Tfw fell for the 16 GiB RAM meme

>tfw fell for the 16 GiB RAM meme

What are you running that needs more?

>tfw fell for the >tfw fell for the 16 GiB RAM meme

Many VMs

Damn, nice, what for user?

>tfw fell for the >tfw fell for the >tfw fell for the 16 GiB RAM meme

>tfw fell for the 8 GiB is enough RAM meme

chrome

My untranslated Nipponese hetnai novels.

I-its true...

>tfw fell for the 16gb RAM meme
>run Windows 10 in a VM with PCI passthrough so I get a chance to actually put the ram to use

>tfw fell for the wait for Volta meme

24 gigs user here
>git
>gud

>launch chrome
>5 chrome processes gobbling up 500 MB instantly
its true

>have 16GB RAM
>fucking fire/waterfox uses up 8 of those gigs if I try to use multiprocess with like 10 tabs

Wish I fell for it 5 years ago.

I constantly have between 7-8gb RAM used when "idle". I have multiple Chromium browsers with multiple tabs open, 3-4 MPV instances open for various shows, word documents, pdfs, for classes, an IDE for programming, Steam, Skype, image galleries, torrent client, other shit - all throughout multiple virtual desktops. When I open a game my usage can be 12gb+ easily. 8gb would be too limiting for me and I laugh at those that didn't upgrade before prices skyrocketed because of your meme.

Just how many things are you doing at once...

Usually only 1, but it's easier to have seperate virtual desktops for things. My main desktop is my "play" with browser/games. One for personal project, another few for different classes so I don't have to close and reopen all documents in few couple days, and the last one for porn - good to keep that one seperate.

>using Chromium on a 1GB RAM netbook
>works fine on 2-3 tabs
losers

>Skype

>tfw when cannot even waste your 2GiB

So.... why don't you just add more instead of bitching about it? Go 32GB and shut your dick holster.

That's like buying gas after a hurricane.

i have 2400mhz 8gb ddr4 and i have never had a problem

I told you 8GB is all you need. Did you also buy extra expensive low latency gayming ram expecting to notice any difference?

>tfw fell for the 16gb ram meme
>barely use more than 4 on linux
>constantly maxed out on windows
mmm

>Get 16gb for Wincuck with my 2500K machine since it's cheap
>Haven't upgraded in years
>Still don't have to upgrade in coming years

Running 2 instances of firefox with a total of 20 tabs, Aura Kingdom playing on highest settings, still cozy enough for the next 5 years at least :>

>not closing everything before stating up a game
retards

Even while running other stuff, never got to the 16gb limit, what games are you even playing that requires that much with shit open?

>unused ram is wasted ram
>programs allocate several gigs each
>computer illiterate nigger panics, buys more ram
>unused ram is wasted ram
>programs eat even more ram than before

tfw have a laptop with 8GB ram soldered on

>try to run CEMU with

>tfw fell for the >tfw fell for the >tfw fell for the >tfw fell for the 16 GiB RAM meme

What I want to know is what the FUCK is it doing with all of that ram? How can Fire/Waterfox use 10+ gigs of ram when all it's doing is sitting there with a handful of Sup Forums tabs open, and the threads don't even have that many images?

>have a vm with gpu passthrough like a real man
>16gb isn't enough

By definition this isn't "idle". Try fixing the way you organise your workspace.

>get laptop for work
>expected to launch VMs, Intellij, Internet browser and build at the same time with 8 gigs
Cheap fucks.

>tfw 32GB DDR4 comfy
>tfw never really needed it but it was like $60 extra over buying 16GB
>tfw it's worth triple right now and considered a richfag luxury, yet here I am comfy with 5% ram usage at all times
I regret investing in bitcoin, should've bought ram instead

>I regret investing in bitcoin, should've bought ram instead

So true it hurts

>fell for the 16gb ram meme back when 2400 ddr4 only cost $75 Canadian dollars
>now decide that I would like to do a Windows 10 GPU passthrough for muh games
>can do so comfortably
Feels good man. If anything, I should have bought more.
