Look for QPDF or Master PDF. Both are alternatives to Adobe.

LibreOffice has limited support for editing PDF files, and I think Evince has some editing functionality as well. There is also PDFToolkit, and PDF Creator. Not sure what you need to edit PDF's for, but Google Docs also has some stuff built-in if you just need to do simple edits.
SumatraPDF is the best viewer, I think. You could try Foxit PDF editor, but I heard it's bloated, slow, and buggy now just like Adobe's stuff.
