The best search engine

The best search engine

Why do you still use cuckcuckgo instead of a searx instance?

It works, I just wish it didn't load so slowly.

because idk what it does better than cuckcuckgo

use another instance that just searx.me

you can define the search engines it uses, it isnt hosted on amazon, there are multiple instances you can use it with rather than just using the duckduckgo.com homepage, and you can even make it incorporate the ddg !bangs

>still using search engines that push net neutrality onto you
ISHYGDDT

how do searx instances deal with google's captchas and bot blocking bullshit?

if i google "something index of" like 2 or 3 times i get a captcha. so how instances deal with this?

Is it better than startpage and if so how? Convince me to switch.

I just use google with a VPN and Javascript off. Come at me, faggots.

>while logged in to my google account

metasearchengine and you can easily build in your own search engines to search.

idk

Nope, try again.

>with my browser window maximized

Looks good, I'll give it a try

Fair enough, but I feel like you're grasping at this point.

CSS scraping :^)

Looks interesting, I will try it.

I have been google search free for over a year now & not looking back.

Yes I still use youtube now and again (not logged in) and bing for porn.

>I have been google search free for over a year now
So you haven't found good results for over a year?
DDG and ixquick are both completely hopeless search engines

u u

Disable all other engines except google and it's fast.

I do not get what this thing achieves.

So you expose your search results to 20 more engines, but you do it by running an extra slow ass piece of python software, rather than in your browser. Why?

nothing gets exposed. it uses POST rather than GET (unless you use chrome)

And how does that prevent your searches from being leaked to all the other services too, assuming you do as expected and enable more than -say- duckduckgo...?

Searx protects the privacy of its users in multiple ways regardless of the type of the instance (private, public). Removal of private data from search requests comes in three forms:

removal of private data from requests going to search services
not forwarding anything from a third party services through search services (e.g. advertisement)
removal of private data from requests going to the result pages

Removing private data means not sending cookies to external search engines and generating a random browser profile for every request. Thus, it does not matter if a public or private instance handles the request, because it is anonymized in both cases. IP addresses will be the IP of the instance. But searx can be configured to use proxy or Tor. Result proxy is supported, too.

Searx does not serve ads or tracking content unlike most search services. So private data is not forwarded to third parties who might monetize it. Besides protecting users from search services, both referring page and search query are hidden from visited result pages.

> removal of private data from requests going to search services
> not forwarding anything from a third party services through search services (e.g. advertisement)
> removal of private data from requests going to the result pages
And why do you want this functionality replicated possibly poorly from what you already need in your browser?

You already kinda need it when you visit any site anyhow, not just the search engine.

I do, but how do i get the latest version of this for docker? Wonderfall/searx is still at 12.0 at the moment.

DDG has an onion service though.

i did a comparison of 6 search engines side by side last week, and duckduckgo actually turned out to be the best by far for finding hentai.

As much as you try not to, everything you do will leave a trace and can be used to gather data on you. The only way to be truly anonymous and not be a data source for google and other companies is to not use the Internet at all.

So at this point, I will use chrome, while logged into my google account with browsing history off and enjoy my seemless and fluid """"""user experience""""""

>seemless

rephrase your statement in proper english

Nice try Mister (((Weinberg)))

Is there any good css or themes for it? I find the results page quite ugly

>that little botnet needs to grow too

yes you can choose them under preferences

is set by default on palemoon
