Hello. I am of Futaba (2chan).
I want to ask France and America, is anime really that much popular outside of Japan?
Sorry for English, it is very difficult even when I try.

Yes
Oui
It's hard to explain. Most people haven't seen anime but there are quite a few people who watch it regularly. More importantly, there are those people that go to your cities and run around like Naruto. Other than those people, it's pretty similar to Japan but slightly less popular.
No. below 5% of them are fucking weeb.
The others are making children now
GOTTA GET A GOOK
git gook'd
Is anime that popular in Japan in the first place?
In Canada its like 10% or less and thats a generous amount am giving here
It's still pretty much a hobby for introvert people, but adults (and pretty much everyone) do know Ghibli movies. Usually if you talk about anime to random people they'll just tell you something like "ah yeah Ghibli stuff are nice, and I like(d) Naruto/Bleach/One Piece", but that's all.
If you're heavy into anime you'll just get seen as someone weird and "not normal" because most リア充 here are closed-minded and brainwashed by American globalism.
Normal anime? Yes.
Shit like OP? No.
Pretty popular, definitely growing in popularity since the 90s when Pokémon, Gundam, Dragonball Z etc were being aired regularly on TV for kids
>adults (and pretty much everyone) do know Ghibli movies
Really? That's not true of the US at all.
My mum loves studio ghibli
Anime is popular here because France used to produce anime as well (we still do a bit but it's shit). In the 80-90 our TVs also had many many anime from Japan, this is one of the reasons France has many weeaboos, we grew up with those, as well as Japanese games.
Of course if you ask Muslims they won't know, so "everyone" might be a bit of a stretch, but still, many people have seen at least one Ghibli movie, and Miyazaki is somewhat well known. Things like Albator and such were also super popular.
What the hell? I bet no one living with 5 miles of me can name a movie from them.
That's 8.04672 km, btw.
>futaba
fuck off, stupid middle age man.
We house a lot of weebs here, and we host animu conventions literally all over the entire country especially in major populated areas, even in random bumfuck places like Wisconsin.
Mostly every kids in the 90s grew up on anime centered programs like Toonami with Gundam, Digimon, Zoids, Dragonball Z, and Pokemon.
Why the fuck are you lying? Spirited Away is literally a beloved movie by anime dorks.
>French muslims don't like anime
Why is this allowed? They must integrate into french culture, this includes weeabooism.
People may be familiar with Pokemon or Dragonball, but very little beyond that.
Occasionally, Disney may release something from Ghibli, like Princess Mononoke, but even knowledge of that is a bit esoteric. In a good way, as a display of worldliness and familiarity of foreign art.
Once discussion shifts to, say, Gundam, it goes esoteric in a bad way, associated with a nerdy hobby around obscure animation nobody else cares about.
Anime isn't particularly popular in the US, but the sample used for your question (Sup Forums) guarantees a skewed response.
we don't use km
For a subculture, it's quite popular, but it's still only a subculture. The average person doesn't watch anime, except things like Pokemon and Digimon when they're children.
>Subculture
We literally have celebshits jumping into the bandwagon of Japanophile.

When this shit happens, its just a matter of time before this becomes a normie thing and anime following in suit.
There is a difference between pretending to like "anime" things and really having it as a serious hobby.
Normies care most about appearances, if they think they'll look interesting appearing as such, nerdy etc, they'll show liking to it, if they don't anymore they'll stop.
This reeks of /r9k/, but is this really how normies view their "interests"? They only become interested in stuff if it affects their appearance in a positive way? Why have any interests at all then?
I've never visited r9k. That's what normies tend to do yes, if they feel accepted liking something then they will, but if the norm is against it they'll see it as something different and will unconsciously reject it and try to find a reason to dismiss it.
It's all about acceptance.
Yes. A lot of normies I know love it now.
Oui oui monsieur! Baget du vous le jacque cousteau! Hon hon
Strange...I stopped caring about being accepted in 8th grade, and assumed everyone else did too.
But, I guess we're the weird ones for being different and wanting to be different. Either that, or there's a low ceiling to the average person's maturity.
Forget I mentioned /r9k/ - that board will fuck you up.
>Shit like OP? No.
actually k-on was a huge hit in japan
t. doesnt even watch cuckime
I LOVE ANIME
DO YOU LOVE ANIME
I like it. There are at least 3 other indians I know who watch anime (including on Sup Forums) and also have have non-shit taste and would reveal powerlevel to.
