Definitely not that

Listen to it more. I thought the same until it clicked

You start.

"No"

inb4 radiohead
inb4 bp

sadly this one. i really wanted to like it

that's aoty tho

side 1 is fucking awesome though

why couldnt most of the album be like this
youtube.com/watch?v=JkICznLrnew

a simple crop and it's already a much better cover

the album is a mess but listenable

OP here. I think it's 6-7/10. Doesn't change the fact that it's a letdown.

Just heard it for the first time. Long and boring sometimes, but enjoyed that song with Bon Iver and the last one...

We're just saying the problem is your expectations. Expecting more than that from Blake...

that's literally aoty, pleb

Radio Silence and Timeless are the only songs on par with his previous work.

radiohead was fucking amazing

Link for this?

why are people so easily to impress

the new SBTRKT release wasn't great

easy to impress? only liked 2 albums from this year so far

...

it's not a letdown if you knew it was going to be shit from the beginning

My problem with it is the cover. It's horrible.
Cringed so fucking hard at the lyrics.

Also the new radiohead

don't know if it works great as an album but some of the songs on this are fucking incredible

Not this that's for sure.

Savages

fuck, there was a new James Blake? brb

it's better than powers that b, and better than them releasing tms/nldw 2

TFW only person on Sup Forums that likes the new james blake, well, I thought it was pretty good atleast, too long.

nah you're not, a lot of people here have shite taste

I love the new James Blake, it has some filler songs but it's almost an hour and a half long so I was kind of expecting that. I'd rate it a solid 8/10.

When have they ever been great?

Also TLOP

desu I only thought Two Men Down and f.o.r.e.v.e.r. were filler in the whole thing

Before this weekend that just passed. 2016 was shit with music. Hope it picks up now. Goddamn 2016 sucked dick.

PW

It's a very sensitive album

Height: 1.96 m

mfw when i listened to this for the first time yesterday while having sex and had no idea it existed

I think the new James Blake is pretty great. Took a second listen for me to warm up to it

>tfw i need a forest fire

She doesn't want to see him and he doesn't know what they feel

"why don't you want to see me?" he wonders

Blake is one of the great musicians in our time, stfu

I'd have to close the window and put headphones on

they might be dead

he'll love them long time

i liked this album when it was called radio silence and the cover was a blueish photograph of james

dressed in white?

>"""""side 1"""""

I know what you mean. Amazing production, very soulful, expressive vocals.

But the lyrics are true garbo. They're just so obvious. I'm all for putting politics in your music, but at least make it clever and actually thought-provoking.

this better not be trivial, it's not just that he's split up with some bird from another band is it?

somebody

Same guy asThe song that comes closest to being profound lyrically is Watch Me. At least when compared to something like 4 Degrees or Drone Bomb Me.

my girlfriend of 2 years left me in January
Nevermen
AnCo
everything about the election
to a lesser extent Radiohead

and Odd Nosdam

>I'm all for putting politics in your music, but at least make it clever and actually thought-provoking.

why. why. why. why.

it's a statement of purpose. there are no rules about it being previously unsaid

if it's your actual purpose you don't have to come up with some arty bullshit to say your purpose indirectly

please

>tfw you literally don't know who James Blake is and got confused that Sup Forums was talking about James Blunt

>similar tfw

sorry to hear that user.

it was definitely good, a few tracks too long

I can relate somewhat to the criticisms of the album but I'm willing to believe the plus points thrown about through reviews. Usually face-value lyrics do irk me a bit when the substance is only surface-deep but I'm willing to let it slide for its purpose as a somewhat catchy pop anthem as stated elsewhere. HudMo & ONP's impact does seem less eclectic and explosive compared to their usual works, I just like to think that they wanted to distance their separate works or are hoping to contribute more should a 2nd be on the cards. Either way I'm going seeing the 3 live in 2 months time and I'm still excited for it, just hoping they add some more twists & bombast to the performance to give it more of an edge.

Hey Flat-ass

...

>f.o.r.e.v.e.r
I thought this was the only meh song on the album. All the rest, including Two Men Down, are fantastic.

I love BP, but it's literally TMS 2.0

Oh i agree, just down think those two songs in particular added much to the album

forever is the only bad song in this album

It's better. 10.

new James Blake is amazing, the most musical album of his
the duration didn't bother me too, I thoroughly enjoyed it

>that's somehow bad

i think it's better than his self-titled

OP the new James Blake is the best release in this recent crop of muh summer anthem releases, better than new Skepta, Drake, Kaytranada, Death Grips, Beyonce, and Radiohead.

For those who liked the new James Blake / think it's his best album:

How old are you?

Not even memeing just curious.

24. Why you asking this, though?

I wanted to see if there's a correlation between your age and if you liked the album. As I said, just curious.

For me 22 and I think it's his worst.

23. i don't know if it's his best but it's good for where music is and where it seems to be going in 2016 and beyond. time will tell how good it truly is but i think it's pretty ambitious, reaching beyond his sound on previous albums. doesn't seem to be getting stale at all to me.

Correlation != Causation

Statistics 101, my nig

BP is good. TMS is not.

also 22 here, and I think I like it more than I liked Overgrown on release, although there are some tracks on it that are pure filler. Like, come on James, if I want pure piano ballads, I'm not coming to you.
I don't think I like it more than his first, though, which I think might just be a little overrated

Eh perhaps it hasn't clicked properly, I'll give it some more listens.

I know user, as I said, just curious.

you may just not like it. there's nothing wrong with that. if you don't like his sound on this album you probably won't like it after more listening. I thought it was fantastic almost immediately

did it well done me

Konnichiwa.

I thought it was gonna be terrible but it was actually pretty fucking decent.

I hope to God this is the worst thing I sit through this year.

You didn't like it at all? I've only listened once but I dig some of the tracks

Ok, the beats are cool and the production fidelity is fantastic, but Jesus, it barely compensates for Serengeti's dogshit flow beginning to end.
>MMM JELLY SCONE SO DELICIOUS
>LEMME EAT THIS SCONE
>LEMME EAT THIS SCONE
He ends up trying so hard to do Yoni's refrigerator magnet / abstract lyrical style that it just comes off as incredibly cheap to me.

I'll probably listen again. Maybe it will grow on me, but damn I do not like Get on this album at all.

two men down n forever are GOAT

This. Such a massive spike this weekend.

(You)

um............ strings that were delivered were rubbish
