That's not how it works at all. You pace your releases to be slightly better than your competition at all times. If you release the bleeding edge developments from your R&D as soon as its practical, #1 you're probably going to have huge manufacturing costs and supply issues because you're not letting the mass manufacturing industry catch up and #2 you risk going into a multi-year slump with nothing up your sleeve if R&D runs into roadblocks.

Release a Line with efficiency and not power in mind that can deliver the same hashrate.
Less Power draw, less PCIe power connectors, smaller heatsinks, better VRAM cooling.

Bad advice especially with pricing/performance being unknown and no dam good reason for needing more performance than a 1080. I'm interested in what new features they can offer for less. The Tesla cards actually mine quite well with no display. You can pick up some older ones and in a free electricity binge they are good.
You can install XEN and game with these and use a workstation or cell phone to play games also.
