Interesting find last week, came across this early 60's Guyatone GP-24 sound hole pickup on Craigslist. It requires no modding to install, it clamps into place with a clip on one side and two little pivoting spider arms on the other, and it's actually very sturdy, doesn't move around at all while playing. It has its own volume/tone controls and an input jack. Sounds fantastic, very clear with lots of tone control, I'll try and get around to recording a tone demo some time this week.

...

>tfw you don't enjoy playing anymore

Just try learning something new and challenging, many. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Looks real neat
How much'd you pay fir it?

Beginner here, can play basic shit but others nope because I strum chords I shouldnt or too slow to change chords(fucking Polly is easy but I can't play, meanwhile Do I wanna Know I can do the intro)

Should I spenmd 60€ per month on guitar lessons? I dont remember the frequency on them but I had them when I was a little kid and learned music sheets some songs and stuff, even performed Cream live

So I have a bunch of guitar strings from different packages but no idea which string is supposed to be what, i'm sure I could figure it out but I just want to make sure I don't screw up. So what sort of gages work for what string? i.e 9-11 high E

80 Canadabucks. There's only 1 listed on eBay right now for $120 CAD.

meh. Just practice, practice, practice. Pick a song you like which is not too hard. Wish you were here and nothing else matters are pretty easy to learn once you're ready for something that isn't just strumming.

where in Canada my friend?

If it's one per week the price's alright. It's nice to have a teacher for the bases of music theory and if you don't want to catch bad habits. Beyond that, it's not essential.

Here you go, friend. The Bible of beginner guitarists.
justinguitar.com/en/BC-000-BeginnersCourse.php

thanks, I'm doing this like the other user linked

I think it is, not less of course.
I was thinking of pursuing music at the uni too after I get good at the guitar since I already have a business but really thinking if worth the money

What are the instruments in the bottom left?

Glorious Fraser Valley, BC.

>mfw people try to tell me that Dookie was recorded with a Gibson G-3

Two different kinds of 3 string dulcimer guitars. The smaller one is a Seagull Merlin, you can buy them retail for $100, they sound great and are super easy to play. The larger and weirder looking one is the Thai version of dulcimer guitars, called a Phin. They're all hand built, I don't believe anybody mass produces them, may be wrong, got mine off some hoarder old lady for $20. All dulcimer guitars have diatonic fret spacing so you tune them to an open tuning, like EBE, and every fret is spaced to a scale so you can't play them wrong. The Phin's are hand built by random dudes and typically the frets are spaced by ear to no particular scale, so they sound really weird.

Here's a little blues track I did on mine: soundcloud.com/epoch6/echo-lake

Why wouldn't that be possible? Pretty sure Mike Dirnt used a Gibson G-3 or Grabber at some point. Plus you can get a decent Pbass sound out of those.

If you can afford it, it is very helpful to have at the beginning to get the basics down.

After you can learn songs and stuff on your own its usually best to cut the cord, unless you really want to be a serious session player or something.

He only played the G-3 live during the dookie tours and didn't use it on an album again until insomniac, he said it in multiple interviews that he used a P/J bass to record Dookie with an SVT II. It was most likely a Precision bass plus since he says it was brand new and active. My Japanese Jazz Bass Special bass NAILS the tone 100%. It was recorded with a PJ.

So I leave my guitars open in my bedroom, on its stand 24/7

The temperature is constant here, except at night where I on the AC.

Is it any bad for the guitar this way? It's an electric btw.

Dirnt timeline

10039 Slappy etc... - G-3
Kerplunk - G-3
Dookie - P/J
Insomniac - G-3
He switches between a 70s P and the G-3 up until warning iirc. He gets his Fender endorsement soon after AmIdiot.

Strings will go a little sharp but other than that no. What affects your neck and fret ends etc. is humidity.

you're fine. Any guitar might need some adjustment after several years, though.

I'll take your word for it, I'm not a GD fan. I'm surprised you can replicate that tone with a Jbass pup though.

I wouldn't do that with my electric guitar. my guitar is in a hard-case like pic related.

I mean, you should be okay having your guitar out like that, i do that with my cheaper classic guitars, but just to let you know that you increase the chances of it accidentally falling and breaking

A PJ sounds a lot different from a JJ.

>Need to get new stuff for my guitar
>I've been out of a job for months despite constant searching

Music for this feel?

A PJ's only going to sound different than a JJ only if you're using both pickups at the same time, if you have the same bridge pickup and pots, it'll sound the same on the bridge.

you have two of the nicest guitars ive ever seen, aged cherry is a GOAT finish

Have I got the perfect music for you, my man.

>using only the J pickup on a PJ

I shiggy diggy

I need help with a problem I'm having with my tube amp. Basically, whenever the amp is on there is a crackling sound that happens about every two seconds, it is also very loud. This happens even when my Strat is unplugged and the amp is dialed to 1. Any thoughts?

And yes I'm using both pickups at the same time.

Microphonic preamp tube

Getting my new walnut pedalboard this week.
Feels good senpai.

The SG is mine (SG Original 2), the Flying V (120th Anniversary V) is my bandmate's. They're basically the same guitar. Same neck, same pickups (classic 57s), same finish. The aged cherry finish is fucking gorgeous in person, it's almost black in dimly lit rooms and a clear wine red in daylight.

It won't fall down, I'm pretty sober to make sure it doesn't. Just want to know if the change in temperature because of the AC does anything to affect the neck or body in general.

buckethead is playing here to tomorrow, should i even go?

You can check if the tube is micro phonic by taking the end of a pencil while the amp is on, and tapping on the tubes lightly. If you hear noise you know its the tube.

You need to be 18+ to post on this website.

I don't own an electric yet, and I hate acoustic. This is my dream guitar.

I'm bored tell me a cool song to learn on acoustic

>bigsby
>dream guitar

You sure they aren't nightmares?

What's wrong with bigbsy trems? Do the make your guitar out of tune?

What do you guys think of Engnater amps? what are their nicest models?

Btw i'm glad we are all nice to each right now and all ~ it was not pleasant to deal with some people who were pointlessly mean towards me at the previous thread

filtered

all wigglesticks make your guitar go out of tune; that's literally what they're for.

Bigsbys are more difficult than others to restring, and suffer from some instability with regard to returning to tune or maintaining consistent tuning when the vibrato bar isn't actually in use.

Tweakers are nice in my experience.

> pointlessly mean towards me
Don't be a spineless faggot, grow up. Like you don't know Sup Forums.

*Egnater amps

Okay thanks, I was actually deciding between the standard model or the one with a wiggle stick.

Don't be mean please. i just want people to be nice.

Really, it's very unpleasant being in a hostile environment. i just want people to be friendly towards one another in here ~

>big amp on flimsy wooden stool

why do people do this?

People were all fine with each other until your candy ass showed up

the best advice I have is to try both. Try to pay attention to whether or not the whambulator gets in the way when you play without using it.

Personally, I have one guitar with a jiggle bridge and I removed the actuation lever and inserted a shim to prevent its detuning on bends or what-have-you. It was fun to play around with when the instrument was new, but I eventually realized that it got in the way more often than not and it wasn't important to the music I was playing. If I need it back, I can remove the shim and reinsert the lever.

If anyone wants to see some hilarious shit google this guys name

a friendly reminder that crazyaga is the most infamous tripfag in Sup Forums.
don't let his post make you mad

Agnes, people would be less hostile toward you if you didn't associate yourself with an identity.

I play on playing punk, alt rock and post punk so I'll probably be strumming the shit out of it and I feel like a waggler staggler will get in the way.

>be from some third world shithole
>regularly do gigs
>vox tries his best getting the audience to participate and stuff
>local audience just sits there quietly drinking, doesn't even bother clapping when songs get played/finished, just weak 'wooo's and 'yeah's

>get to play gigs in Australia and Burgerland
>audience cheers if we play a kinda unknown song
>audience cheers when they recognize a song (top 40s)
>they talk to their mates but still sings along whenever they know lyrics
>audience dances in front when drunk if we play some funky stuff
>audience bantzes with our vocalist who happens to be a cheeky kunt in between songs
>tfw always a 10/10 experience for me

goddamn white people mayne

Is this you?

I fucking love that crow

What's you're cunt?

That is from years ago user, i'm much more knowledgeable now in terms of music.. i still love the albums in that lis ~ (well... the *shels album in particular dropped alot since then though.)

I did not like dream theater back then btw, i just casually went to the "other music" sections in those forums. Devin Townsend was popular there and i loved and still love Devin.

The Philippines?

Woah dude

yea

You're a faggot
Snuggly is better than all of the annoying child-voiced crows of the sequels and you know that

Good for you user, limiting yourself is retarded.

I forgot about that motherfucker.
You and me both man. Wouldn't want one with a bigsby though.

Boring audiences are the worst, my friend got in the quarter finals for a band contest/whatever you call it, and absolutely no one was moving around. Meanwhile when they were playing in another town with a smaller audience, everyone was having fun.
I heard the japanese are also weird as hell, apparently they don't move unless you tell them, just like in this video
youtube.com/watch?v=IGJRl-dMa9Y

Unless you're Jaco a Jazz bridge PU soloed sounds like ass.

How do you go shopping for a guitar and not annoy a bunch of shop owners? I want to spend a day going to every shop in my area but I'll only end up with one guitar from one store. Should I get something really cheap from every place?

Fuckin beautiful, man.

If a guitar shop worker/owner doesn't like you playing their guitars to potentially buy, they don't deserve your business. We have a really cool shop downtown with a LOT of hard to find stuff. And they really ride your ass about trying out the guitars. I've never bought anything from them.

What are your opinions on the Orange Crush series? Specifically the 20, 20RT and 35RT? Which one would be the best value?

I'm looking for a new bedroom amp.

Overpriced and mediocre. For the same price you can get a used Super champ X2, Excelsior, Ramparte, or even a Blues Deluxe Reissue.

I own a crush 20, only cost me £99 and I think its incredible, the clean channel crunches like a tube amp when you turn it up to 11, the distortion is very dark sounding and it takes pedals better than lisa ann takes dick.

>Lisa Ann
Holy mother of pleb taste

I won't buy an orange amp now, thanks user

>used a well known porn star name to better emphasise the point
quit memeing you cuck fucker.

Rubber on the stand can discolour nitro if you've got that. Otherwise not much risk besides knocking it over really.

Aren't his shows insanely cheap? I'd go.

>Egnater
Average amplifiers.

Are SGs the new meme guitar?

Yeah. He's incredible to see in concert, his playing and theatrics are superb.

I just got an idea for a template if some one is willing to make one. It's six slots, guitar or bass, amp and three pedals and you put in your dream guitar/bass, amp and pedals and the other people try to guess what genre you play/create in.

Current:
>Guitar(s)
>Amp(s)
>Pedal(s)
Dream:
>Guitar
>Amp
>3 Pedals

What about people that already own their dream gear? Or don't own any?

Then you either don't have to respond or just say it's the same as aforementioned, friendo :^)

Okey :^)
