/og/ - openSUSE General

In /os/, we discuss about the openSUSE GNU/Linux operating system. opensuse.org

last tried vanished, new thread!

So, what's the official Sup Forums solution to the codec and font rendering question?

Their wiki has a one click solution to fix that nonsense iirc.

Are we now gonna start making a general thread for every distro there is?

Sure, you do the Debian derivatives, I'll do the Arch ones.

I will probably go with openSUSE when I get around to buying a new desktop.

Just wanted to share. Hug me.

But what about fedora?

Have a bump.

Using tumbleweed on my dell e5450. It works pretty good desu. Only issue I had recently was the KDE 5.12 update that corrupted the cache (which I had to delete because KDE shit itself).

What do you mean with fonts?

Improved font rendering.

Don't update to 390.25 drivers, Nvidia fucked up again.
Should have stayed on AMD, fucking faggots.

>tfw using an amd apoo with open sores driver, zero problems

bump

reminder that opensuse is BLOAT by default, no way to get a clean system

Good thread.

this
all you should need 2 install 2 watch innernette and homo porno is web browser and video playback software product

I always thought opensuse is surprisingly clumsy, considering it has enterprise distro behind its back

I got openSUSE installed on a secondary HDD since 2015 but I'm scared to connect to internet without understanding the network settings.
Can you recommend something to read about the network settings that's easy to understand and also recommend some settings for first-time internet connection?
It would be great if there was a firewall that allows me to block all IPs from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255 and shows a real time log, so I can see what's going on at all times and lets me add exceptions manually, kinda like Peerblock (what I use now on Win7).

There is, but it requires some adjustment. YaST is superior, but still not good enough.

See screenshots, you can pick what to install!

1/2

2/2

Up to date system with firefox + ublock origin + umatrix addons is fine.

I'm not very familiar with the built in firewall "SuSEfirewall2" yet.

Have used gufw before, for a nice gui tool for ufw you can switch from SuSEfirewall2 to gufw with below:
systemctl stop SuSEfirewall2
systemctl disable SuSEfirewall2
zypper in ufw gufw
ufw default deny
ufw enable
systemctl enable ufw
systemctl start ufw

What is with all these retarded Linux logos

Does everyone using Linux have autism?
>what picture should I use for my new os
>I know, a gecko!

what is better logo?
a silhouette of a pennis, some cream or a few bits of string, all of them different length?

Sup Forums is too autistic to use god tier distro

I've never tried Fedora, what sells it compared to Ubuntu and openSUSE?

you'll help beta test stuff for red hat for free

It's a chameleon you philistine

*tips*

Does this work with Tumbleweed?

me irl

can you remove systemd from this?

how will I know when the nvidia bug has been fixed? do i have to check 4chins and
ribbit
and opensuse sites everyday?

there is shitshow right now with ssdm and nvidia, tumbleweed is getting more unstable than even, im just waiting for leap 15

>gnome
>kde
>minimal install

Yes.

What is your question or statement?
It's not minimal enough by default?
If you're unhappy with the defaults go with custom.
