It's absolute shit, slower than ever, so it seems, anyway. I feel like they beefed up their marketing, and that's about all.

??
Did you forget how to use settings?

Meanwhile using Pale Moon with 25+addons and over 56 tabs.
>316mb used
B-but furries can't code!

>literally one tab, no addons and using hardware accelaration just to pretend its using less resources

GARBAGE

Show processes?

For real I'd love a web browser that doesn't use insane amounts of memory.

Makes you think pretty hard when a web browser is using more RAM than an Adobe application.

Unused fans are wasted fans.

>discord
>reddit spacing
Idiot

I dunno what you're talking about mate, it's better than dealing with Skype, and it's generally more convenient than IRC at this point.

Oh no! Not 1 GB of RAM what will you do?

>2018
>Using (((57 Chrome)))

Good thing nobody in this thread has said they use chrome

>muh discord!

werks on my machine.

It's using 180MB to display 10MB of images and some text. How is this not a problem?

Do you need help?

Eh, it's not so bad considering it's faster than the forks.

>settings to make it look like a 15 year old browser
>uses more memory than was available 15 years ago
BRAVO

discordapp.com/guidelines

That's nothing OP, I've seen FF climb to 20 gigs of RAM.

Good talk.

What the fuck is running in web browsers to warrant this?

100 tabs of porn videos

>What the fuck is running in web browsers to warrant this?

Combo of programmers taking too many liberties and shitty or maliciously written sites. Or retards with 50+ tabs who dont know how to ise bookmarks. Having your browser and ublock origin properly configured is key. Enable the extra filters and block 3rd party scripts by default. If you want to get crazy use umatrix too.

running almost 100 tabs and ublock origin and it's taking up under 1GB of memory
are you browsing 30 tabs of youtube videos with your browser, you incredible faggot?

Isn't OS X more liberal with caching than Windows/Linux? I remember hackintoshing and memory use was always low.

no idea, friend
chrome eats memory like a fat american on my machine though, yet firefox runs very well and never gives me any issues

Stop using old thinkpads and this wouldn't be a problem

Chrome is abysmal on OS X

Your all mining buttcoin for Hiro.

4chanx and ublock origin is stopping that

Stop using it. You browserniggers are absurd. It's as if you don't sample a variety of browsers and switch between them for best results. You don't work to solve your problem but you make these stupid threads everyday as if browser RAM usage actually matters. Too much RAM use? Use a different browser you stupid piece of retarded shit. Go download IE6 standalone, you deserve it. Sup Forums is not your tech support.

>asscoin mining
>eating RAM

3 tabs 3 extensions

Sorry, wasn't paying attention to this thread but here you have Pale Moon with 1159 (I opened 1155 bookmarks but forgot to count the tabs already open in the filename) loaded tabs with 27 addons.

cripplechan has some atrocious coding ;)

Not that I dont believe you but why wouldnt you put your tabs in the background too for proof?

WTF is up with Firefox.

Pic related, 3 tabs open on Chrome and Firefox, all same sites, and Firefox is eating up 3X the RAM compared to Chrome.

Mozilla has a $400 million dollar yearly revenue. WTF are they spending that money on? Certainly not competent engineers.

They better get their shit together. I basically had to re-learn Firefox and find a shiton of decent addon replacements to keep staying with this browser. It's getting harder and harder to avoid the inevitable Chrome BORG.

>2 tabs Sup Forums and Sup Forums
>3 addons greasemonkey, ublock and umatrix
>600mb

how do you do it Sup Forums?

There are settings you can easily toggle to lower RAM if you want. Just use a search engine.

fuck off. I shouldn't have to re-tune the browser so it's efficient

Don't have to do dick with Chrome It's 100% optimized as-is.

Firefox doesnt rely on building profiles on you and knowing what sites you visit so they'll load faster. So if you dont want to use RAM for some reason you can disable or lower cache, use disk cache instead of memory cache, and/or lower process count.

100% botnet
/ftfy

>Firefox doesnt rely on building profiles on you and knowing what sites you visit so they'll load faster.

WTF you ragging on about? I hardly ever use Chrome, and had my browser opened to 3 website landing pages, and FF still went whore wild with the memory.

>Chrome
>Not eating your RAM

Retard land Ahoy!

I didn't because I have a scrolling bar and thus you'd barely see a percentage of the whole quantity. Tree tabs have the same issue. I could use multiple tab bars but I'd have to either bother messing around with my settings, my add-ons (or the lazy way) just get another addon to do it for me.

Instead have 3 tabs and 27 addons.

Forks, what are they?

>on firefox 36
>before that, 28
>looks like I have to upgrade to the new botnet firefox just to use Sup Forums with 4chanX

They are thing you use to eat, retard. How do you not know that.

>implying
I'm starting to think that most firefox forks are superior to their mother (male).

>chrome
>optimized
lmaooo you clearly never watch your performance

Cmon user, you're making me doubt you even more. You said over 1000 tabs and under 2GB of RAM. Until I see it I dont think I can believe it.

I'm on 56.0.2 and I haven't updated to quantum yet. Is quantum as shit as I've heard about it?

>psst.. hey kid.. I can play webms now

I like it. Its much faster and stable. But I like knowing my software so I went through the settings and changed a few things in about:config

it's alright

>preferences
>general
>lower processes

The only thing that stops me from using Firefox is "look up to Dictionary" feature that has been implemented in chrom* but not in Firefox yet. Until then, I keep using safari. Not that playing webm matters to me.

open 1 tab
oops thats 246mb of ram

Try going back a page with backspace.

>windows
>discord
>>>/reddit/

>New to firefox? Let's get started!
I give up, what's the about:config entry for this?

You can't install the addons and extentions that give you back the functionality they removed, because they removed that functionality too.
They literally decided that you aren't smart enough to know if you can trust something they haven't whitelisted, even if you wrote it yourself. The config option is gone because "even when we moved it off the about:config to an unencrypted plaintext settings file malicious addons could still edit the file and enable the setting!"

NO SCRIPT CAPTCHA DOESN'T WORK ON FIREFOX WHY?

Try Qupzilla.

Okay maybe I should give it a sh-
So I shouldn't update after all considering I have a couple of old add-ons I use from time to time?

Do you have any "legacy extension" installed? Because v57 is incompatible with them.
Try it, and if you don't like it just downgrade it or use Waterfox which is basically the same as Firefox v56 but without Pocket and other similar shit packed.

yeah but chrome can use same settings with low memory usage like fuckin using ur cpu cores really firecucks u can't even make proper multi thread scheduling and tell ppl to disable mt on browser to lower memory usage fuck off.

Its taking 3gb you idiot can you not read

kek the absolute state of ishits

>10+ tabs open
>10 yo cpu @100%
>fuck mozilla

i seriously dont get why is everyone bitching i had 0 problems with mozilla since i switched from chrome 2 months ago

They took that feature from Chrome. Quantum is literally the steal everything from Chrome update.

it sure is hard to run mozilla on 12 yo peace of shit thinkpad isnt it ?

Multiprocess was a mistake.

The fuck are you talking about

>hurr it say firefox so id must bee tha browsur!!

god damnit wrong pic

No it cant you retard. Firefox lets you control cache size and process count. You can also disable cache or use disk or memory cache or both.

Unused RAM is wasted RAM.

When my computer starts paging, it's using too much RAM.

Admittedly their tweaks to Firefox have actually worked. I've got five tabs open and one of them is playing a video and this is the only impact.

On the other hand I have the upper threshold to spare.

You need to buy more RAM in that case.

>1.3 GB ram used on android
You don't know what true hell is

>12 tabs
>875MB
H-How?

...

>I can play webms now
Doubt it, and aren't you Windows only?

Get on my level.

not on my i5 2500k with stock clocks

what do you use so that you have adress bar and tabs combined?

But user, we make these threads because we want to have conversations. We are lonely people, after all.

Probably the UI CSS file

he is technically lying
there is no magic shit to deal with so many tabs except if everything is from the very same lightweight website with little to nothing different between each other, because this way FF can cache those common shit and just deal with little things. Even then it probably load and unload shit, so you don't have 1000 active tabs, because this is dumb, no one would code such absurd as it's nearly impossible and unpractical that you need everything to be up and running.
Those numbers are just a gimmick out of context.

>blaming the browser for something it has no control over

:(

Edge can only play some of the webms I came across, why is that?

>what is webm

Is that supposed to be low? I'm consistently under 1.5 GB with a bunch of tabs. The ram usage is only really potentially noticeable with a bunch of video tabs open.

Unused RAM is wasted RAM
