Which monospace font do you use?

Which monospace font do you use?

Whichever ubuntu default is.

Source Code Pro

Courier New

It's literally called Ubuntu Mono

I think it's DejaVu Sans Mono. It just says 'monospace' on Slackware. I could mess with font.conf but xml is for gays so the only time i mess with fontconfig is to disable the subpixel schizophrenia in other distros.

Anyone knows about a good condensed monospaced font?

Either Hack or Source Code Pro. I like Source Code Pro's glyphs more, but Hack has a more pleasing line height and kern.

'monospace' refers to the system's default monospace font

fixed semi-condensed at 6x13 pixels is good if you're limited on screen space. just disable bold fonts before you use it because the bold glyphs look like ink blots.

terminus regular

$ fc-match monospace
DejaVuSansMono.ttf: "DejaVu Sans Mono" "Book"

fira code. ligatures are so cool

>2018
>not using comic sans for everything
>even when mono is an option

Courier > Courier "nu"

Fantasque Sans Mono is quite good

Source Code Pro or DejaVu Sans Mono depending which is available on a system. Consolas is pretty nice too.

Isn't it the same font but Courier is a bitmap version from back before ttf, and Courier New is the ttf version?

ProFont

inconsolata

why do they always make one symbol smaller than the rest like that little baby hash? and why do the braces always look like parens? i like bitmap fonts but they never get it completely right. you would have to hack together 10 bitmap fonts to make one usable one.

they look pretty different on my system
but i was mistaken; it actually IS the case that Courier New >>>> Courier

I guess you're right about the #. It might have to do with the fact that font is 6x12, so you can't really make it wider than 5px and I guess the creator decided to not make the hash taller, i.e. non-square. But how else should braces look?

how about use a Real Man™'s font like Courier New
or just get your eyes checked

Courier New is way too light, original Courier is bets

not on my system
it just looks fizzy and bolded
Courier New looks crisp and subtle

Menlo on mac

Yea, that one.

someone should make a monospace comic sans
i would but im lazy
