I'd buy a big gaming laptop as a desktop replacement, but the cooling system seems to need more maintenance than a desktop or they'll be clogged with dust, while for a desktop you can run for 4 years and get only small increase in temp from not cleaning.

A gaming laptop is only as good as the games you want to play on them (considering how optimized they are). The 980m in my laptop is pretty old, but a few of the newer games I like to play (Tekken 7, DBFZ, ROTTR) are optimized. FH3, on the other hand is not, and will only run on my desktop.

Just got a Thunderobot dino with a 1070 in it yesterday. Pretty sweet it got 5300 in firestrike, this generation of laptop gpus are just as good as desktop ones which is not a bit of info the haters here like to admit. No I did not buy it to go play games in the park but it is nice to have only one computer that I can easily move and use it on the couch while spending time with my family or what not.

Funny enough with how efficient modern GPUs are and how expensive consumer cards are, you can buy gaming laptops with near desktop level performance for pretty cheap

I'm waiting for those new AMD APU's to come out in mainstream laptops. The R5-2700U will be quite the little monster for a 15w TDP. Good enough for casual 1080p gaming while staying under a $700 price point.

$1200 these days will get you a gaming laptop with decent i7 and full sized GTX 1060 6GB in it. Laptop, power brick, and at most a controller is all you need. Stop being a faggot.
