Reposting due to new thread:

What does Sup Forums think about ceramic watches?

Pic related. Its a Rado Ceramica Diamonds.

I really like the simplistic but elegant geometry of this watch.

Rado mostly ignores traditional watch design language so a lot of people into watches find they look 'wrong'.

What kind of bracelet will fit this?

I think I want to get a Tudor sliding spring lock clasp, would the end pieces fit this watch?

are you a boy?

...

I already have a Daini Type II, but now my old sensei asked me to get a donor watch for him, so now I'm hunting a Suwa Type II.

I've already been asked a few times to source parts before, older watchmakers can't find shit on the Internet, so now I'm that tech geek in movies that hacks the Pentagon mainframe for access codes to the obscure watch parts black market.

why dont you stop the shitposting already user, or at least tell us what hurt you exactly

Does anyone know of good suede/velour straps? I think a gray or light blue one would look good on a sarb035, but i'm not too sure where to look for nice ones.

...

What?

He’s just looking for a bracelet

I see you corrected the last line. Good job.

>chick magnet

I hate the Seiko Diver. It looks like a Dollar Store watch, but that's just my opinion.

The SKX007J is a fine watch

lmao someone edited my screenshot and kept the status bar

What is the lug width?

Is there a decent non-vintage dress watch in the $200 category?
Not the Bambino which is big and has ruined proportions.
Not the Marlin reissue which is overpriced and hard to get.
Quarts/mechanical it doesn't matter.
Let's solve the problem once

gay thread as usual, you watch-wearing faggots
it's just that i have to remind you every time

>Let's solve the problem once
>Let's
it's YOU who has to solve the problem. you either
a) stop being poor
b) stop being a homosexual so you won't need to wear a watch anymore

This is the gayest general on Sup Forums. It belongs on /fa/ because you faggots only discuss aesthetics and fashion.

The last thread was specifically about modern solar watch technology

I

>decent non-vintage dress watch in the $200 category?

These all receive good reviews good-stuffs.com/CLASSICS-TAILORED-_c_16.html

I'm sure there are plenty of small seikos and casios dress watches if quartz it's not a problem for you.

makes itt look more authentic

What will come after quartz?

no u

Not sure because quartz is pretty much good enough. We can make it small enough to fit anywhere, and have radio control, so more accuracy isn't really needeed.
Maybe atomic clocks will be miniaturized enough at some point, but it's not like there really is a point anyway.

Apple Watch

but it also works with quartz or like any phone. They rely on external syncing

Is all solar quartz?

spring drive

To bad I'll likely never find the stock bracelet for it.

When I give up on finding a Citizen bracelet what would be a better fit instead? Jubilee, President or something like H-link or coffin-link?

That's quartz, and it won't replace stepper motors.

In theory, you could have an electric watch, like those that existed right before quartz became mainstream. But I'm pretty sure any solar-powered watch that exists is indeed quartz.

dont reply to the windy knob faggot please user
thanks

Solar atomic coming in April.

Solar is just for power

It could run any movement

oooooh

Post your hands

the hour, minute or second one?

...

...

...

Anyone?

Considering we were speaking of Hi-Beats last thread, some people go fucking crazy over these Lord Marvels. I actually ended up just selling mine for an insane amount of profit. I think I am going to replace it with a Numeral version. Anyone in /wt/ have the numeral version?

ceramic is so easy to break and it can't be fixed. i wouldn't recommend it.

i really want to like the lord marvel, but the hands are just too small. need to be thicker and longer. shame because i prefer the LM case to the king/grand cases.

I guess so, in person I have not felt that way.

No baton? Or is that just stick, but thicker?

What do you guys use to polish your watches?
I already have polywatch for the crystal and now I want to work on the cases of my watches.

This is fucking amazing and I will never in my life be able to afford it.

Isn't it a stamped case?

From what I’ve read it’s stamped as the first step to get those sharp angles, than worked with from there.

Has there ever been something like a watch movement main plate machined out of an ordinary coin?

Pic unrelated.

>What will come after quartz?
MEMS mechanical movements. Jean Claude Biver has already publicly announced that LVMH intends to fire the opening salvos in the coming MEMS revolution. They plan to roll out movements based on the Zenith ZO 342 across Zenith, Hublot, and even TAG HUEHUE.

I would try a StrapCode straight end oyster on that.

>muh Rolex retains value better and is more liquid when you need quick cash

So does this mean Rolex is actually a poorfag brand?

Go to any pawn shop and get your answer

More like, you travel a lot and need to bribe the cops in a shithole, but you have no cash on you

Whether the rough shape of a case is stamped and then machined or entirely machined out of a block on a CNC doesn't really mean that much in terms of external finishing work as all the final shapes and surface finishes would be machined (and/or applied by hand in the case of haute horlogerie) after the rough shape was made regardless of whether that rough shape was achieved by stamping or CNC rough machining. In either case, it's not as if anyone is hand carving cases out of solid blocks of metal.

stamping is bad

I think you missed the point.

But it's a double-edged sword as it also makes you a target, especially in such shitholes. Meaning you probably shouldn't be wearing the Rolex in shitholes in the first place.

Stamping blanks vs. machining blanks on a CNC will make zero difference whatsoever to the finished product as all the final shapes and surfaces have to be machined afterwards anyways.

Ankle watch, bro

"Stamping" is how cases are traditionally and artisanally made.

The trouble with hooded like that is they look weird on anything other than the original bracelet.

Seems like carrying a lump of gold would be a better solution than a fucking watch.

k

No, you'd be better off putting your money in index funds and not traveling at all

Well sure, but don't lose track of the original point here:

Retaining most of its value and being easy to transfer is good for literally anyone and everyone

that isn't stamping...

But it's more important to poorfags.

Poorfags don't buy Rolex

That's a 18mm lug width, bub.

Speaking relatively, of course.

You mean like Bruce Williams

Found a suiting shirt~

Where'd you sell it?

I'm not really sure about his financial situation, but his propensity for flipping raises some red flags.

Also, I'm not too informed on that particular Rolex incident.
Is it in any way conclusive that he faked the whole thing?

What the fuck is wrong with you

Leddit from someone who I knew was looking for one. They paid quite the premium since I had it serviced by a special someone.

>Air-King
It didn't fly so good.

>Is it in any way conclusive that he faked the whole thing?
What would he benefit from making an ass of himself in front of the entire world, let alone cry like a little bitch.

>What would he benefit from making an ass of himself in front of the entire world, let alone cry like a little bitch.
Like I said, I'm not up to speed on the incident.
I remember some rumor about his faking it for some kind of gain. Not sure.

>What would he benefit from making an ass of himself in front of the entire world, let alone cry like a little bitch.
Youtube views. I had never heard of him until someone linked his video here when it happened.

No wonder a r*dditor overpayed for it. It's a nice watch but they're not rare

Serious question are you a homosexual?

Its the only seiko i have ever wanted lol

Thats the best part of it, he could have easily have found one on eBay for probably half the price. It is a nice feeling as an owner that if it breaks there are scads of movements out there that could be used as donors

I looks like the hour hand scraped up the dial between 10 and 20. My guess is the hour hand got bend and the whole gear train rapidly wound down when the escapement got destroyed.

Did he not have his watches insured ?

Also, this goes to the rest of you here. Who the fuck walks around with a $2k+ watch without ensuring it?

It's literally like $50 a year to cover a Rolex. It protects you from theft and damage.

>$50 a year to cover a Rolex
This is not true

Well just won this Suwa penis. I don't mind the damaged dial as it's going as a parts donor for a watchmaker friend.

It's true

Is this a fucking fake?

buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/p593149669

It wasn't even his. He sold his collection of shitters to buy that Air-King off a "friend". He had it and was making a video about it, but that guy decided he wasn't ready to sell it. He was literally on the way to give it back to the guy when he left it on the roof of his car and it became the Highway King

serious answer, no I am not.

You dont like the shirt? Dont worry I think its hideous ~

Can you imagine what the rest of this guy looks like

It wasn't the shirt user, it was any of the following:

1. Ring on pointer finger
2. Rope bracelet
3. Fitness tracker beside rolex
4. THAT rolex
