Beer

What do you like to drink /int? Lagers ,Ales and Cider all welcome.

for me doom bar is one of my favourites, IPA too but i don't mind peroni or estrella on hot days

>Beer
>Cider

Well, overall Pils. But really depends on the food, on the drinks before etc.

I like Altbier

my favorite is pilsner urquell but that's hard to get here

i know, i just tacked it on as an afterthought as its a similar alternative. Bit too sweet for me generally though.

What do you drink in France then ? Except for wines:

EXCUSE ME, SUPERIOR BITTER COMING THROUGH

Altbier is pretty good. No idea how hey can make the worst beer ever just in the next city.

Feels good living close to the Czech border and even having an Bohemian restaurant in town where I can get Pilsner, Staropramen and Budweiser from the tap.
Not exactly needed since our beer is damn good, but a nice alternative now and then.

here we prefer vino, but craft beer is on the rise

We have some shitty french beers like kronenbourg, sometimes guiness, people mostly drink heineken. I live in the south tho so we don't have many brands, the closer to Belgium and Germany you get, the better they are. Beers are also way more expensive in France than in Germany.

I love JK and Crispin cider. I'm not a beer snob but bud lite and coors light taste like piss.

Not him, but aren't there any good ones in Alsace?

>Beers are also way more expensive in France than in Germany.

I guess it is everywhere.
Cheep beer here is around 30 Cent / 0,5 liters. Normal one like 60-70 Cent.

I don't remember I was too young to drink the last time I've been to Alsace, I know kronenbourg comes from there but it tastes awful. There are probably some lesser known ones that taste good.

Here it's around 7€ for 6x25cl for heineken, which isn't even good

Yeah in Germany the beers are really good and cheap, I've never drink so much beer in my life than in Berlin, a shame you don't export more

any good german ones you recommend?

The thing is that the big ones you get everywhere like Beck's really suck. (seriously, that shit tasts like water with hop, how is that even beer?) So it is a bit like with 'murrica and muh microbrews. I do know quite a few foreigners that enjoy wheat beer like Paulaner or Erdinger which they can buy at home.
I am a Pils drinker myself and from bigger breweries I really like Kulmbacher (drinking it right now) or DAB. The best of the really big ones is Bitburger if you ask me.

>7€ for 6x25cl
In a normal shop? Sounds crazy...
How high is the alcohol tax?

Yeah, and we even seem to brew some stuff abroad and sell it under the name. Bought a Löwenbräu in Moscow and it was fucking disgusting...

sounds like our prices in london, too fucking high
never tried klumbacher or bitburger, don't think i have even seen it actually, will have to try and find some.

Seattle Dry cider. There's getting to be a lot of good small cider producers now.

Beerwise, the season's changing now. It is amber time, ideally a malty toffee one.

the purest bitter taste you can find among hungarian beers

Stella, Rodenbach, Duvel, Vedett, Westvleteren,

And ofc Gulden Draak and Piraat

Franziskaner Hefeweizen.

I don't drink much. What are the differences between the types of beers? The last one I had was a lager from Belgium because I wanted to try it without knowing what a lager is.

>tfw you like beer but you find its harsh taste going absolutely horribly alongside the savory taste of food and you can't understand people who drink it with food

Not him but I find erdinger a bit much, it's impossible to drink much of it, it's like a glass of breakfast cereal

Hello Ahmed, how's life in Germany?

Most recent brand discovery. I like the hoppy taste of northern beers anyway, and besides the usual pils they also make wheat beer, dark beer, strong beer, porter and two ales.

>Hello Ahmed, how's life in Germany?
Are you 12 or something?

Do your people even make beer out of things other than water yet?

DAB is the most horrid dog shit beer I've tasted in a long while. I think it's the entire region that typically produces beers that taste like licking a doormat.

You have to be 21 to enter this thread cleetus, can I see some ID?

Lagers are fizzy and served cold, ales are darker, have more flavour and arent fizzy. That's the main difference really

English ale like old speckled hen. Other than that, not much.

Try Pelforth.

I drink pretty much everything, usually default to local craft beers for casual weekday drinking because of the ideal cost and portion size. Recently have been leaning hard into sours and away from IPAs/ISAs.

Then you are drinking the wrong beer for you, experiment, drink less bitter beer.

All the beer of my favourite brewery. They have everything and they all taste good.

Old Specked Hen is not an old ale, just like how in Scotland what they call wee heavy's aren't. Commercial British ales are universally watered down and low alcohol compared to traditional styles.

Old ales are supposed to be one step below barleywine, at 7% abv or more. Old Speckled Hen is 4.5. Likewise, India pale ales are traditionally 6%, and very hoppy. They were invented to keep on ships going to India, hence the name. They aren't near-hopless and 4%.

If you want good beer in Britain, the only choice is real ales.

Why so many?

Where do I start?

They are one of the oldest brewery in Germany and in the last 1000 years they just happened to created different recepts for different kid of beers. Since you're a flip/bro/ you probably drink red horese or san miguel. I wouldn't recommend the dark coloured sorts, especially those over 7% alc.

any beer

Weiss

Good choice, I prefer the Bernsteinweizen myself.
