nobody is going to use a player with such an ugly logo
and people still use vlc
>no gui
(lol
>gui
lol
what makes this media player better than VLC?
What is the best frontend?
But I though you tards still used MPC-HC?
Haven't been in the thread in a long time. Is scale=ewa_lanczossharp still the best option for live video (meaning not animated) or is there something better now?
was this image made in gimp, if so it shows
the split is not equal size
They should've let me make the logo

got an easy to use and understand gui for setting this all up?
just use emacs
oe Shinchiro, you forgot to bundle the ANGLE dlls on your mpv release.
Where do I got those?
no one use angle now
really? So what replaced Angle for us Windows users?
...
Perfect.

Every time
Native HDR playback when?
I like
mpv has had that for ages
Nope, all mpv can do is convert HDR to SDR but it can't show the actual HDR image on a HDR capable display:
github.com
github.com
github.com
>Closed
>mpv does support HDR content
???
It does "support" hdr content but can't sent the HDR metadata to the display so it can't really show HDR.
MadVR can tho.
it can play hdr content on hdr tv, it just doesn't autodetect it.
currently emerging smplayer so it can translate my mouse clicks into autistic weeb player commands
SMPlayer
Subtitle tech is actually surprisingly hard
Everything about text is hard because computers are stupid and understand 1 and 0 only.
there was a time when you won't need anything but CoreAVC for h264 decoding.
I mean madshi is old and busted. Deal with it.
Madshi is still pretty active on doom9 but last madvr build was a month ago!
I am sure he is preparing something huge but what?
There were some interests for motion interpolation recently, so why not this?
>emerging
Pretty sure you're already autistic.
Does this thing have a GUI yet or is it still trash?
Is this mpv general?
How lightweight is mpv? If I want to stream radio on my toaster laptop, will it be better to use mpv or just browser?
I'm running 32-bit Mint.
Report it.
>will it be better to use mpv or just browser?
You're kidding, right? Any standalone video player is more lightweight than a web browser. mpv is pretty lightweight, but the default settings are tuned for modern computers, so the cache can use a lot of RAM.
I mean if I'm already in the middle of browsing. Does a mere new tab still consume higher resource?
how can I exit mpv when long pressing left click?
The minute I start using mpv on OS X the fan on my macbook air goes crazy. If i just use plex via the browser my battery life is extended
That's because hardware acceleration is disabled by default in mpv.
Is it? Not him, but on my mint I got no screen tearing on default mpv, but the screen still tear on my browser until after I turn on hardware acceleration in the browser setting.
OSX and Mint are different things, brainlet.
Um, ok?
Does that mean mpv default setting differs for each OS or something?
How do I enable hardware acceleration?
rate my config:
profile=opengl-hq
ytdl-format=bestvideo[width
I think you can use the "hwdec" option: mpv.io
Does this advanced media player have playlists and a volume control yet?
>ytdl-format=bestvideo[width
it was set to 'auto' and I just changed it to 'vda'
should that do the trick? I'm a brainlet too unfortunately
are you unbanned from animebytes yet?
That should be used for an official mpv normie GUI edition
I don't know what that is; much like how MPV developers don't know what music is. Isn't that the audio that plays during magical girl transformation sequences?
>normie
truly the player for sissy anime faggots
Daily reminder:
>In general, it's very strongly advised to avoid hardware decoding unless absolutely necessary, i.e. if your CPU is insufficient to decode the file in questions. If you run into any weird decoding issues, frame glitches or discoloration, and you have --hwdec turned on, the first thing you should try is disabling it.
On 0.28 it's gpu-hq.
You need to add /best or it will fail on non-dash streams.

Can anyone help me with something?
I try to use mpv to watch live jewtube stream but when it opens, it shows ~1s then the stream stops.
For example my cmd line is
mpv youtube.com
Working fine on my loonix machine. Update your youtube-dl and mpv?
Yes, same thing, can you paste me your ytdl settings?
>I try to use mpv to watch live jewtube stream but when it opens, it shows ~1s then the stream stops.
0.28 is fucked for streams, for example the bakamplayer version(something quite old by now) doesnt have this issue
on windows i just use the git builds to solve this, im kind of fucked on linux since im not gonna compile one for myself
It could be a windows only bug I think I remember hearing something about youtube streaming. I don't have a ytdl line in my config. Try --no-config on command line.
How do I set a track on repeat? Loop requires manually choosing which span of seconds to loop. I want the track to loop.
If you're not familiar with the term, a track is like an episode of anime, except it's purely auditory and musical in nature, and also isn't anime.
Solved problem by downloading latest git sourceforge.net
Doesn't work on OS X either unfortunately. I have the latest youtube-dl and mpv and here is my youtube-dl settings
# Streaming
ytdl=yes
hls-bitrate=max
ytdl-format=bestvideo[height=1080]+bestaudio
You can loop a track by pressing shift+L (L for loop). It took me thousands of hours to discover this, but I am passing my hacker knowledge onto you. I also realized there is a shift key on the right side of the keyboard, so you can do it with one hand if you are a manlet and don't have pianist hands to do it with only your left hand. Again this took me many hundreds of hours hacking the command line to perfect.
ytdl-format=bestvideo[height
I am on windows 7 on a shitty laptop with integrated intel i5 5200U and a nvidia 940M.
I have enabled "open mpv with GPU (not integrated intel graphics)".
What should i keep in mpv.conf ?
>hwdec = no or yes
Also are there any test files i could download to check if everything is working as intended ?
Mah nigga, I have the same configuration. I'm also interested in same question
Thank you, user
It however works every other time i.e it will work once, then if i close mpv and try to run it again it will give me pic related
You pasted it in config? In mpv.exe location config?
I'm on OS X, user
I want to create a plugin for MPV that would automatically copy the currently-displayed subtitles to the clipboard. Where should I get started? How can I access the subtitle stream?
>active
>last message is month ago
The subtlety of this image is genius
I'm not a programmer so this is probably cringeworthy code. I just modified an existing script I had slightly. It seems to work, it copies the subtitle text that's currently on screen. It's for linux and needs xsel installed. For windows/osx you would have to modify the os.execute line. I don't know how that works.
function copy_to_clipboard(contents)
os.execute("printf \"" .. contents .. "\" | xsel -ib")
end
function copy_sub_text_to_clipboard()
local subtext = mp.get_property("sub-text","")
copy_to_clipboard(subtext)
mp.osd_message("Copied text to clipboard ", 2)
end
mp.add_key_binding("x", "copy_sub_text_to_clipboard", copy_sub_text_to_clipboard)
Hey thanks man, this is the nicest surprise I've received in a while. I just save it as a .lua in ~/.config/mpv/scripts right?
Yeah, also the keybind is "x" which you can change on the last line.
Thanks again, friend, you've made my week. I watch shows and movies with J-subtitles to practice my Japanese and I'd been using the terminal dictionary sdcv to look up words that I didn't know, which was particularly difficult if I couldn't hear exactly how they were pronouncing something. Now that I can just use a mouseover dictionary, I'll save a lot of time. Thanks a ton!
Madshi has won since he made the choice to create windows only applications.
What are these errors that I get with hwdec enabled?
Wasn't there some sort of lua script to help language learners?
whats even the point of mpv
I knew there was, found it.

Hope it can help you user.
2bh i just use the films & tv app on windows 10 for watching stuff
damn man at least use vlc tf is wrong with you
