Hey Sup Forums I'm buying a new laptop and i want your opinion on it. I've narrowed it down to three with the pic being one. What do you think?

Here's the 2nd

nope.

>hp

Here's the final one.
What do you think and if you guys know better deals let me know. My price range is $700 - $1,000.
I want at least 2 TB hard drive and 16 gbs in ram

I think you should kill yourself immediately.

These are all horrible choices. The specs, pricing, most of them being HUGE blocks.

Jump off a cliff.

This.

Just use a fucking online site like amazon or newegg or some other reputable vendor. You only buy from local if you're a retard.

These prices aren't much better if at all from those sites.

All computers are "overpriced" these days.

You can get better deals online. The only benefit from buying from Costco is the 90 day return policy, and 2 year warranty.

get a Macbook instead of literally any of those.

Why that much though?

Unless you are doing anything intensive beyond gaming, 8GB should be enough.

Your more relevant specs are GPU and CPU, harddrive space is the easiest to work around with cheap external storage.

Also if you buy directly from manufacturers, you might get option to upgrade to windows 10 pro

>save a hundred to couple hundreds on same spec laptop
>its not much better

You're a brainlet.

Go to slickdeals or something and find a deal. It might take a week or two, but if you insist on buying such garbage, at least save a few hundred.

>hundreds cheaper

Have we been going to the same websites?

Try maybe 20 to 40 bucks cheaper at best if there isn't a flash sale going on with select inventory.

Order a ThinkPad T420 from Ebay for $150.

You'll like it a lot better than any of these three pieces of shit.

I know very little about computers so please, enlighten me on what a good deal is. I want a laptop that can last, be good for work, but also powerful enough to play games on. What should I know?

That if you're not spending at least $1500 then it's not going to be a gaming laptop.

Most of the people on this board are gonna yell at you for not getting a Thinkpad or whatever the shit. You have to tell us what you're going to use your laptop for. What's your work? What games?

The 949.99 Dell is the better buy but I strongly recommend buying something better online.

>HP
Commit suicide

So they can then spend 300 on upgrades to make it usable?

This post is right.

It's really 2 camps you'll need a laptop for - checking your FB of your ex fucking better looking guys and jerking to whatever porn you like that week.

The other is you actually want to play games on it and if you want it to last and play them at least decently, you're look at as this poster said, 1500-2000.

I guess a 3rd option is you actually use and need a laptop for work as a professional in photography or video or some other work - it seems that's unlikely as you're woefully unaware and just buying the i7 cause Intel said it's best.

Already a better deal than anything listed, although I don't care much for the 1050, it'll do just fine at $800

>The other is you actually want to play games on it and if you want it to last and play them at least decently, you're look at as this poster said, 1500-2000.
Considering RAM and GPU prices, oddly better than buying your own PC these day.

Thank you, I was going to link the below to show at least 3-4 better laptops on a non-tech site that would be better spec'd or better use of cash.
slickdeals.net/deals/computers/?src=catnav_computers

God, isn't that the truth. I built my desktop a couple years ago and it should last a couple more before I get an urge to upgrade. Hopefully pricing is more sane then.

Also another thing to keep in mind, most gaming laptops out there are really fucking flashy. Huge and thick and have accents and blinking LEDs, very few gaming laptops are suitable to bring into a workplace. With that in mind, here's what I'm planning on getting once it gets back in stock.

amazon.com/GIGABYTE-Aero-15W-BK4-i7-7700HQ-GeForce/dp/B076FLGX9D/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1519958404&sr=8-1&keywords=aero+15x&th=1

Dell
Much better build and the AMD graphics will just werk in linux
Costco isn't a bad place to buy shit, a bit overpriced but theyll take returns no questions asked until like 6 months after purchase
I've seen hacidic jews return half eaten cakes and shit they just take it.

Give one of OP's choices weighed almost 5 fucking pounds and doesn't do more than a chromebook, I assumed size and weight weren't major factors.

On the slickdeals site I linked, the Asus laptop is nice and relatively understated for MUH GAMEZ. The Gigabyte you linked is a very sexy machine - I wish more computers would take such styling.

fuckin boot

get the fuck back to the barracks and clean your room shit head

I need a decent work laptop because of the statistical programs I'll be running. My original plan was just to get a $400 piece of shit and call it a day but, I don't want it to poop out on me during a work sessions. Gaming is a plus but, not too important yet I think running my work program will be equivalent to playing a moderately powerful game. Going over $1,000 is beyond my price range, if I wait to save up the cash I might as well buy a temporary piece of shit.
Also it has to be a laptop my work has protocols so I can't get tablets or even desktops. It has to be a laptop

Ok - Nobody here suggested anything but a laptop.

I doubt, HIGHLY, doubt, whatever your work program is needs an i7 and a dedicated GPU. HIGHLY doubt it - especially given you're some sort of tech idiot on Sup Forums.

A $400 computer is going to be fine, trust me. At least one that's on a deal, don't go to fucking Best Buy and get it.

Also, what fucking workplace makes you buy your own laptop with NO guidance on what to get? I hope you get paid at least $60, but then I fear you're doing better than me yet can't into laptops.

Already did now, I need something for work

buy a surface pro, or a new sony vaio

Here
amazon.com/Flagship-Inspiron-Touchscreen-Quad-Core-Bluetooth/dp/B077YSPHZX/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1519959308&sr=1-9&keywords=Dell laptop

Now leave

>the description
I'm fucking dying!

Agreed -- What with the huge 5400 RPM hard drives and not a sensible SSD?

Looks, good. I will.

it doesn't have a gpu but that just means it wont die on you because of heat issues
you can probably still play overshit on low
save the difference for a decent desktop down the line

>5400 RPM SATA drive
Dont do it OP

>5400 RPM drive
wut? they still put those in new laptop?

I bet in a day your spend 60% time on gaming and is the reason subconsciously you are upping your rig.

No SSD, not even worth looking at.
Hard drives are the single biggest point of failure, especially in laptops. They are slow, use more power, and weigh more. Plus you have to treat it like a delicate flower while it's on if you don't want to cause a head crash.

buy a dell xps

You are not wrong

cheap and most people don't care especially since W10 improved boot times drastically.

What's it like being even fucking dumber than the piece of shit computers you presented us with

>laptop
>retail

Pick one.

how is linux driver support on the microsoft surface line?

Christ on a fucking crutch.
Here is my Laptop, i absolutely love it and it is right in your range. It also BTFO's all your other choices.
dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/inspiron-15-7000-gaming/spd/inspiron-15-7567-laptop
You're welcome.
>inb4 gaymur shit
>inb4 backlit keyboard

Could someone please explain to my why people buy new laptops?

Why not grab a last-gen refurbished one from the manufacturer for half the price of what it sold for new, and make small upgrades if you really need to?

>bought $400 refurbished dell latitude about 5 years ago
>added an extra 4GB ram a couple years ago
>still just werkz, while my friend replaced his second macbook in three years

Get the Dell. HP Pavilion is a heap of shit that WILL have heat issues within a year, if not out of the box. i7-8550U and 16 GB RAM seems a little over the top for laptop specs imo -- very reasonable for the price, I just think there are very few use cases that call for an i7 in a laptop.

Because $400 used is $600 brand new with warranty/ unused battery and $200 is the price I'd pay to make sure that the semen on my keyboard originated from my dick exclusively.

Why would I want a laptop another man has already jizzed on?

My laptop has a worse CPU and I emulate PS3 and WiiU games on it.

Swap out the HDD for an SSD and that thing would fly.

Never buy HP shit

The dell has precision touchpad drivers unlike HP

just wipe it down with rubbing alcohol, god damn

Why aren't you buying a used thinkpad for your undoubtedly modest normie "Facebook machine" needs? Literally anything from 2013-onward will be fine.

Acer Helios 300 if you're looking for a good laptop that can play games, 7th gen i7, 8gb of ram and a gtx 1060 6gb for a bit over 1,000 on Amazon. Will put all those others to shame and also run games well.

I wouldn't buy a computer right now. Just get a thinkpad and wait for a bit.
I just picked up a T510 for no reason at all and I currently have $75 Into it. Just get something like that

What are you waiting for the intel 8th gen H series?

Honestly OP - If you want a fucken desktop to slay on CS1.6 just buy a fucken desktop...

>not buying from costco

Literally retarded. All electronics come STANDARD with a 2 YEAR WARRANTY from Costco. You'd be dumb to buy online especially considering the abysmal service you'd get if something where to shit the bed.

Fuck the manufacturers warranty.

this. My sister once returned half a Galon of orange juice because "it started to taste bad" 1 week after opening it

i7-8550u isn't that better than i5-8250u. Just clock speed difference. That i5 still has 8 threads.

OP, I'd say save some bucks and go with i5 version of Dell

Quadcore is OK, but keep in mind you'll need to buy a SSD on your own. Its cheaper, invest 100 $ into a 850 EVO, then get a case to make your internal HDD external.

All three of your options use spinning rust drives. Even worse, they're 5400 RPM. That's pretty garbage. Maybe you should stop looking at computers that are available in brick and mortar stores.

You want a buisness refurb. They're basically the only good laptops anymore.

>Being a (((new))) laptop
KEK

>No SSD
Fuck off

>5 pounds
>fuckhuge form factor
>HDD
jesus why even buy a laptop if it's not portable
