Why do TVs have such weird pixel grids?

Literal chinese panels.

my GPU's base clock is 1050 yet won't go above 925 no matter what I do. why is this?

Yeah but so are actual PC monitors though

Try MSI Afterburner.

a decent hacker will fuck up any windows installation because microsoft does not update them on spot like it happens with linuxes (a fix in under a hour) and there are still ways to fuck your system. security updates, firewalls, AVs, whatever will protect you from random, mass copied malware but never from a dedicated attacker

Hey Sup Forums,

I was doing some research between the Ryzen 7 1700X, and the i5 8600K and I ocncluded that the 8600K was ultimately better, despite the 1700X performing better when multi-threading (or some shit like that I'm not an expert).
Can anyone advise which is better?

Also, if I were to get a 1080 Ti, would it even be worth considering the 8600K, or should I just upgrade to an i7? Do the CPU and GPU have to compliment each other in that way?

Thanks

>I use multi-threaded applications
Ryzen
>I play games
Intel.

The 8600K is more than enough for the 1080Ti, and yes, but you wont see a bottleneck with it.

should i use this beast?

Get the new Nokia 1.

Thanks man

the camera is kinda weak, but they crammed so much power in that thing, amazing
btw, i own the u8180 and wanted to spend a week with it for the sake of it

When I go to the Nvidia Control Panel to add custom settings for a program, the Recent Programs option shows a huge list of programs, some of which I've since uninstalled, and some are porn games I really don't want people seeing. How can I clear this?

How is this build for a home media server & media player?
Will serve video to three other devices.
I'm wondering about hdd power draw, but I assume since the PSU has 7 SATA connectors I'm good

looks like someone has been a naughty boy ;)

Still won't crack 925, and I just ran Fortnite at max graphics. Any ideas what could be going on?

Open GPU-Z, post both description and sensors tabs.

>open image in new tab
>it automatically downloads itself

How?

...

Post MSI Afterburner.

>my GPU's base clock is 1050 yet won't go above 925
ifit's below the supposed fabric settings, make a complaint. they give you no guarantee to make it work even a little bit above the base clock but anything else is the manufacturers fault

If it worked fine before do a system restore.
And/or reinstall drivers.

had to reupload

Funny enough I just recently did a system restore and reinstalled drivers to the last decent AMD one and nothing changed. I'm afraid to jump drivers since I was having problems with the most recent AMD one

What's the best vpn for torrenting?
Super fast isn't super important as my internet speed is only 15mbps

Literally any of them.

some VPNs don't like torrenting

>Magical Girl Panty Quest S1+S2 (1080p dual audio FLAC)
>15gb
alright so what the FUCK is the deal with hevc? because this sounds too good to be true. How late am I to the party here?

Repostan from the last thread. Any of you have expirence with installing freenas?
I'm trying use an old Dell Vosto (E4500 cpu with 4 gigs of ram) as a freenas machine but the boot drive it creates always freezes up the BIOS which lead me to this thread: forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/freenas-9-3-freezes-dell-pc-in-bios-stage.25761/
I have the boot drive open in Gparted but there are no partitions on the drive (pic related).
I'm really at a loss here, did the installation just fuck up? (I have tried this several times now)

Just use tribler and torrent over tor while on vpn

i meant that some of them have some policies on torrenting like blocked countires etc. (mostly VPNs under US jurisdiction) the vast majority of VPNs are okay with torrenting

I need to move my PC to the floor to save on desk space, but I have carpet in my house. I have a thicc case, too big for any floor caddy that I've seen. I'm thinking about buying a cheap cutting board to rest the computer on; is this a terrible idea? Does anyone have a better solution in mind? Here's the cutting board in question:

Are TN panels on monitors really that bad? I get the colors turn to shit when you look at them at different angles but I never have my monitor at any sort of angle at all.

im asking this because im looking to buy a new monitor and trying to save some money as well. alot of the monitors within my budget seem to mostly been TN panels.

How can I preserve thermal paste?

TN panels have a very low latency so i've heard them being used by hardcore gamers. other than that, there's no really any advantage to use them

I'll email AMD in a second, but I'm also having another problem. When I try to underclock the GPU, it doesn't do that either. It's like my GPU isn't responding to my input

I think I really have no other option than to install Windows 10. Beyond OldNewExplorer/Classic Shell/other similar programs and installing custom themes from deviantArt, what options do I have for improving the UI?

i see. well im not really looking for any sort of gaming advantages or anything. i play multiplayer games but i dont have that "MLG pro gamer" mentality.

I was just curious because usually when i see people talk about monitors and someone brings up a TN panel monitor, they get blasted with
>kek, he bought a TN monitor
type of remarks.

they're considered poor quality

What's a good torrent site, I've only ever used pirate bay.

any specific type of torrents?

music or movies maybe
anime
what tech job is in high demand and isn't soul draining

...

for movies: rarbg. for anime: nyaa for music...maybe also rarbg, maybe rutracker

thank ya

Is there any other interesting or useful internal expansion slots (aside from a GPU, USB hub, Wifi/Bluetooth connector)?

They're the easiest to make, therefore the cheapest, therefore the most common. Generally you don't get great colors out of TN, and while IPS isn't a guarantee, they're usually a lot more vibrant. These days the price difference is small enough that I would definitely get IPS if you're not that worried about response time.

I'm trying to learn more about the OSI model and tcp packet captures, in particular about the size of the files sent in a tcpdump.

Problem is, there is plenty of documentation about how to run a tcpdump and what flags to set, yet fucking nothing about what each part actually means, or what the size of the IP header is, etc.

Anyone have any good sources with examples? Ideally a sample dump with parts underlined actually explaining what each part is.

should i create a swap partition on an ssd?

Yes.

>man tcpdump
>tcpdump -h
>tcpdump --help

What book should I read if I'm interested in microcontrollers? I've played with the MSP430, MSP432, CC3200, and ESP8266. In a college course on embedded programming, the data sheet was our textbook

Alright, Sup Forums, redline me on conductive pens. I accidentally a trace on my GPU, and I imagine I'd have nothing to lose but my time and money if I were to use a conductive pen and potentially fix it. Does Sup Forums have any recommendations for this? I'd like something with a thin, fine tip, as the traces are quite thin.

You have no idea the hell that awaits you if you fucked up a trace.
How did you even manage to do it in first place.

thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for

>pay for app on play store website
>try to install from yalp store
>download hangs
>try to install from apk
>gives an error because it wasn't from play store
What do?

If I get a cpu cooler that holds two fans, how do I make sure that those two fans go at the same speed?

Your motherboard will do the job.
By default on most if not all motherboards CPU_ALT slot will work at the same speed than CPU_FAN slot.

Use monitoring software, but generally if they are plugged into the mobo or a controller, the software will automatically control them

As far as a refund, you have to go through the play store. It's out of the 3rd party's hands.

As far as getting it to install... idk

Turn on developer mode and enable third party apks

do I have to go into the Bios on start up if I have to make adjustments?

Like most fan control settings, yes.

If I have more fans than my mobo has fan connectors, I have to power the extra fans with my psu, and they will all automatically spin at the fastest speed, if I want to slow them down, I will have to get some sort of hardware to do it, right?

Yes, a fan controller.

Already did that, it lets me install the APK but when I open the actual app it errors

Just report the bug. Unless you want to go down the path of debugging yourself.

I recently overclocked my i5 4690k (asrock mobo) to 4.5ghz. I've been looking at the power saving settings, and while I've been able to get the clock speed multiplier to drop at lower CPU usage, I haven't yet figured out which BIOS setting needs to be changed to get the voltage to drop at idle. It seems to be fixed at the manually configured voltage (1.22v). How do I change this? Will it have a major effect on idle power consumption or the lifespan of the CPU?

Try C3 in the power states menu

I went to pry the heatsink off the GPU, and it just so happened to hit the only trace that was around for inches. I shouldn't have used my screwdriver.

>pry
Why fucking Pry, its only 4 screws.

Spreadsheet question. I'm at my wit's end with some thing that should be so simple.
>Want to use =OFFSET() to get the value of the cell 9 rows above the result of cell B24
>B24 contains `=LARGE(5:5,1)` so it shows the largest value on row 5 which is always changing
>Do `=OFFSET(B24,-9)`
>Ends up getting the value of the cell 9 rows above 24
>Doesn't get the value of the cell 9 rows above the cell B24 is referencing
How do I get =OFFSET() to give the value of the cell 9 rows above the cell that B24 references instead of B24 itself?

If I'm on Windows and want to use Linux in a VM which is the best software to use?

I'm thinking about switching to Windows 98 for all of my productivity needs.

Can I do it for under $100

Try indirect instead of offset?

I've been using Virtual Box. It's worked well for me, not sure if there's other better options.

Tried a few combos but they lead to formula parse errors and such. Some of these failed ones include:
>=INDIRECT(OFFSET(B24,-9),TRUE)
>=OFFSET(INDIRECT("B24"),-9,0)
>=INDIRECT("B24")
There's probably some ridiculous answer that involves more nesting and stuff but I wouldn't have a clue.

Would it be feasible for a power supply to be "built' into a circuit board using software and specialized hardware, bypassing the need for a large power supply? For example, a PC's power cable going from the wall outlet, directly into a port on the motherboard, with specialized hardware doing the AC to low-voltage DC conversion as soon as it was plugged into power, reading instructions from nvm.

This is ugly as fuck, but mess around with it

=INDIRECT(MID(ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()), 2, FIND("$", ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()), 2)-2)&(ROW()-8))

I have two gtx 1080 tis. Both of these cards are mining, can I play games the same time I mine on both.

Is it time for me to get a new router? I remember having annoyingly high ping and lower bandwidth than I should have before I replaced my router five years ago

slightly cleaner
=INDIRECT(LEFT(ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()), FIND("$", ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()), 2)-1)&(ROW()-8))

As long as it can work out eventually. So I guess every instance of ROW() and COLUMN() should stay untouched, and "$" should be replaced with the cell I want the data from? Will fiddle around with it and see what happens anyway, cheers user.

The only difference between the two is keeping the "$" in front of the column reference.

Either one should be working. lmk

I just started programming last year for my ECE courses in C and assembly for arm cortex m4.

I try to use vim but I don't see it as of now (1 week in) any better as vscode. I actually see it slowing me down at times.

Is vim really worth the long learning curve? Any professionals here in this chat that use vim and can tell me how its quintessential for work over VScode or other editors?

To expand, the formula uses ADDRESS to create a self-referential string, which is then parsed by left (or mid) to select the column name, which is delimited by the second "$".

Then it's just a matter of concatenating the column with (row()-8)

>got a new NZXT S340 case and an 8gb stick of Ram to have 16gb total
>move parts to new case
>now PC wont boot up my ssd
>mobo detects the ssds and hdds I have installed in the Bios and changing boot priority does fuck all.
>also tried the repair trick with the bootable usb drive and went into command prompt to reassign the drive and that did nothing either
Wat do? Will I have to do a clean install of W10? Specs are i3-8100, MSI z370 gaming plus mobo, Gtx 760, 16gb ddr4 ram @ 3000mhz, 1 crucial 250gb ssd drive with W10, 2 WD 1TB HDDs.

What apps are used for network management and accountability on linux/windows PCs like the Fing and zANTI apps on android?

breaking it down...

=ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()) // "$B$24"

=LEFT(ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()), FIND("$", ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()), 2)-1) // "$B"

=LEFT(ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()), FIND("$", ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()), 2)-1)&(ROW()-8) // "$B16"

=INDIRECT(LEFT(ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()), FIND("$", ADDRESS(ROW(), COLUMN()), 2)-1)&(ROW()-8)) // value of cell $B16

Is there a way to 'recover' and find out what videos were either deleted or made private on (((Youtube))) instead of just having [DELETED VIDEO] instead of the actual title of the video.

last thing, depending on your specific needs, you won't even need the "-1" in the LEFT, you'd get $B$16 instead of $B16

What do ?

Yep that did it nicely, many thanks.

glad to help, user

Why the fuck does hardware acceleration in Chrome and Firefox make video playback WORSE?

I have a 4790k and 980 Ti and I have to turn off hardware acceleration to get usable video streaming WHAT THE FUCK

why isnt there a decentraalised Sup Forums clone yet? im in the uk and we're about to be dicked on in april when the government decide Sup Forums is a porn site and we need kikepass to use over18 content.
