You didn't format your boot drive during the installation process, did you?
Install win7 now.
Fuck you too yiff in hell idiot
...
I don't know, I just burned the ubuntu iso to USB and clicked next and ok during installation. the windows 10 media creation tool doesn't work in Ubuntu so now I don't know how to go back to windows 10.
Making a windows install image from Linux is easy. Just download the ISO image from here: microsoft.com
Once you have it downloaded, install WoeUSB, and use it to unpack the ISO onto a USB drive.
(protip; all of the work the WoeUSB does is done by a simple shell script wrapped by the GUI, so you don't have to compile it; just check out the git repo, and use that shell script)
If you just clicked "yes" to everything, you probably erased everything on your computer. Learn to read in the future.
thanks for the help kind user, downloading the ISO right now
a sign from god to ascend to linux heaven and give up childish videogames
This
this. deleted my windows which I used to play league and installed Manjaro with KDE, comfy/10
won't come back ever again
on a related note, I installed Kubuntu...and I'm at a loss about what to do next now that I've updated drivers and everything...
what the fuck do I do now, I looked at 'man' for some terminal commands and that's about it
>what do i do
what? use your computer however you used to use it
enjoy your no games and start watching anime trash instead.
>falling for Sup Forums meme
lel
>Too stupid to follow instructions on a fucking auto-installer
Amazing
Are you saying that when the installation said
>Install Ubuntu alongside with Windows
>Install Ubuntu and use the whole disk (WARNING: This will erase all your data)
>Partition everything manually
You chose the option that says erase everything and clicked next? What could they have done differently to prevent you from doing that? I'm not sure but I think there might even be a popup window that says you are about to delete everything.
Think about what you want to do and google how to do it maybe.
Install gentoo.
>tfw windows users never read anything and then cry on social media about the consequences
>he fell for the Linux meme
>"I can't read!"
who the fuck can't follow a simple install guide?
Since you've fried your windows install you might as well check and see if you can recover any of your files hanging around on other hard drives and usbs.
In the future, you should backup your hard drive before shrinking the windows partition (before even installing linoox!)
Check your disk for any other partitions like recovery etc
It’s only fair, stupidity should be punished
Different user here.
When I installed ubuntu on my laptop, there was no "alongside windows" option. I said fuck it and gave up my factory-installed windows partition
I'm a debianfag so probably not ubuntu accurate but it's named something different on ours it's - "Guided - Use the largest continuous free space".
It's like pokemon romhacking, you need to find the free space to have somewhere to put your stuff! Because Windows is hogging all of it, even the shit that shows up on your drive as free technically isn't free for linux to use. You have to shrink the windows partition first to have room to install linoox. It's like windows is a thin person wearing a fat person suit, you have to get rid of some of the pretend fat so that linux can get in.
That's just normal partitioning and has nothing to do with Windows. Unpartitioned space can't be (normally) used so if Linux was the only OS you'd probably have it take up the entire drive too, and thus be required to shrink it if you decided to install a second OS.
>I use a lot of software that is only available on the system I currently use
>I know, I will use a different system!
>Oh my god how come I can't use the software that is only available in a different system on the one that I use now for no reason
>How come deleting all of the partitions in my hard drive to install a system gets rid of my previous system
>I just clicked next and ok during installation.
I'm not going to lie OP. You're stupid enough that you deserve it, but it's true that Linux is still not there. It's true that for instance a DS4 can give troubles on Linux that are not present on Windows -even- while using ds4drv, it's messy, awkward and doesn't support certain functions. It's true that most games that are available on both platforms natively -still- run better on Windows. It is also true that, despite the advancements, WINE is still a buggy solution. You shouldn't have done this anyways. I mean I know that you are mentally deficient and you probably ate lead paint chips back when you were a child on a regular basis, but just saying.
Heres my advice, stay away from gnu/linux and windows. Try osx. It might be more on your level of intelligence
It is worth noting, at this juncture, that those who wish to dual boot Linux and Windows would be well served by creating their partitions in Windows disk manager BEFORE attempting to install the Linux distro. This way you can see that WIndows can see the partition, and that it isn't supposed to write there, and the partition should be visible when installing the distro. Saves a lot of trouble.
The absolute state of Sup Forums brainlets
>Imagine being this retarded
Happened to me too. How many partitions do you have used? Do you have legacy BIOS?
I had Windows 10 installed over 7.
Nice bait
Windows is as dumb as MacOS.
Get this through your thick skull: if you have to ask i.e.
>Hey Sup Forums, lobotomite here, what linux distribution is for noobz? xD
linux is not for you.
I'm very glad you fucked up your windows partition and lost whatever you had there. Maybe, you fucking imbecile, think twice before doing anything blindly.
>lost files
I re-installed Windows thanks to and everything is good now. all my stuff is stored on secondary disks and steam has all the saves I need. back to playing AC Origins and never going back to loonix :)
this is the worst bait thread Sup Forums has ever seen
I don't know if anyone really can be this stupid.
So where's the thread complaining how Windows just wiped your Ubuntu installation without asking? Oh right, you have different standards for them.
Why are people unable to think before they do something?
See ya
Use it for the equivalent of a chromebook because that's all your average user does on Linux.
Find software to replace software you used on windows, find out there is always something inferior and missing on all of it.
Make your windows shake and wobble when you move them and think woop cool, I' "enjoying" Linux now.
That's what you get for not setting up a proper dual boot, newfriend. Now enjoy your memebuntu.
