this was known, it was only a matter of time, mobo manufacturers told they could make cpu's work on the old boards without a problem, but intel demanded to drop compability
Oh shit, I didn't expect that. What's the exact differences between the chipsets? "CPU and iGPU functioning" makes it sound like minor things might be broken.
the cpus are exactly the same except for +2cores? what can really be broken? it the same shit as the 7xxx series.
>Inlel must be hacked to force compatibility
the absolute state of inlel
i wonder how many normies will do this
oyvey we don't want them to not buy new mobos now don't we ?
>intel corporation are lying jewish pricks
everyone already knew this
kudos on the niggers that got that shit into a working state, tho
would this work on an asus p8p67 pro rev 3 board?
ok now i get it. I have to allow a shitload of scripts to see that web page
gonna have those reparations lasts for 100 years goyim
the fuck are you on about nigga, i have ublock origin and it loads well.
Is the only mod just shoving new microcode and new Intel ME into the BIOS and flash? Seems it should at least partially work this way.
>Intel are lying Jews
Shocked
A socket change a year keeps the goyim in fear
I'd suppose that's the only thing that needs to be done. The problem might be extracting the microcode from a CL BIOS and injecting it into SL/KL Bioses, as it might be segmented in way that makes it difficult to do so. Like on AMD you couldn't take microcodes from an AM3+ bios to an AM3 bios.
You realize that 8100 is a Kaby Lake?
Wake us up when they actually get a 8400, 8600 and 8700 to work on a100/200 series board.
The problem is that majority of 100/200 boards don't have the power delivery to handle Coffee Lake when they are stressed.
Intel wanted to avoid a repeat of Pentium III 1.13Ghz debacle.
They are legit reasons why they had to change pin layout for Socket 1150v2. It the same reason why older Socket 2011 boards cannot work with Haswell-E/Broadwell-E chips.
Doesn't help anyone who is buying new since you can't apply the mod without a Skylake or Kaby Lake CPU. Even for those upgrading, the best you can do is upgrade from a Celeron/Pentium to a Coffee Lake Core i3, which is the same as a Kaby Lake Core i5 but cheaper.
So basically you can save $30 or so by doing this mod on an existing budget board and upgrading your CPU.
You can for SKL/KBL and CFL, but can be tedious and involves manual hex-modding with UEFITool. I believe you can just simply download the Linux microcode update file, and then shove the CFL microcode in with MMTool if you are using Aptio. Anyway, I read the win-raid forums and for the most basic mod, they needed the microcode update and updates related to the IGP such as the VBIOS update. There is also a requirement for the BIOS file for modification to be before a certain date because the newer Intel ME locks CFL out of Z170/270 artifically.
>a 4 core 4 thread CPU works just fine on a platform that has always had a 4 core 4 thread CPU in its' family
Until the 6 cores can work on 100/200 series boards, this is irrelevant.
>8700 vs 7700
HMMMMMMMMM
nigger they draw the same amount of power
z170/270 boards were designed with overclocks on 6700/7700k's and shit
in fact the 8700k only draws 20w more than a 7700k

>tdp = power draw
nigger ya wut, git out.
So bottom line is they could make coffee lake compatible with the older socket but didn't because of jewery?
i also posted an image that directly shows the powwer draw on idle and load you fucktard
There's some power delivery pin(s?) missing from the older sockets. Overclocking might not work as well and using a 8700k on a shitty board with shit VRM might blow it up.
When you take the dick out of your ass you'd realize that power delivery is heavily over designed on motherboards and they should have no issues except in very fringe cases. They could've used a blacklist/whitelist where some CPU/motherboard combinations wouldn't work. Instead they completely banned it.
It's pure greed.
>Only tested on i3
>A literal Kaby re-brand
I want to see i5 or i7 because I believe this "hack"
Power benches are way more spread than most other metrics, it all depends on Mobo and quality of chip.
But what really matters is that chipset is in charge of TDP and requires adjustments to meet Intel requirments
Waiting for 9xxx and their integrated igpu's. I want to drop using additional gpu for the 2 basic games I play.
Also, waiting for thunderbolt usb c motherboards.
>Ryzen 2xxxG just released with best IGP ever
>banking on Intel for IGP performance, ever
Wasn't Intel supposed to use AMD GPUs in their processors?
That's for some very specific OEM chips, not across their catalog.
Yes and they are stupidly expensive. Would be cheaper to buy a separate GPU even with current insane prices.
so i could upgrade my 6700k on my z170 asus ranger to a 8700k?
>Still barely any faster than a GT 1030 / RX 550
>iGPU isn't faster than a dedicated GPU
WOWOWOWWOWOWOWO
kek, Kike Lake is literally a housefire
>P8P67 LGA 1156
Are you retarded?
Are you
