there's one better than the d15 tho, IIRC it's a thermalright one that's basically the same thing but with extremely loud and fast fans
>extremely loud and fast fans
Then it's worse as far as I care.
just bought thise one for my setup
didnt know these existed like 2 years ago
Just got one of these and my idle temps are ambient, load temp is about 30 C higher
Enermax Liqtech TR4 is the only reasonable choice for SP3r2
*bends your skylake cpu*
noctua really should make a d15 for TR4
Didn't they though? With a larger baseplate?
I hate those chocolate shitstain fans
I returned that piece of shit because the revision with LGA2066 supported backplate wouldn't line up on my 990FX board.
ALPENFÖHN OLYMP
what on g-d's green earth
MasterAir Pro is better now m8
what the fuck
Why get a noctua any more when you can get a non-poo coloured cpu with exact performance and for cheaper?
What the fuck? you'd burn out the VRM on that board with anything that needs that.
>lanparty
What happened to these manufacturers?
I own a 212 evo and it's not as great as everyone says, might as well be as good as a stock cooler, it's dissapointing to see so many people fall for this meme aswell, i recommend upgrading to a way better cooler ASAP wether it be a AIO , be quiet cooler, custom loop, noctua, don't skimp on the cooler, if your gonna buy one then get a good one, otherwise stick with stock (i have a 4790k and get around maybe 40c , but that's with expensive thermal paste i got from a friend)
Why spend more? This is my 212 EVO while encoding a video.
>barely hits 60C
>fan still at idle
Better than the 212 and in the same price class
Scythe kotetsu have better performance and about the same price.
ah the V10 meme back then. 200W of TEC power
The non-slim version obviously
After the last thread went window shopping and there is a new kid on the block price to performance wise, pic related. Not buying tho my shitbox's hottest core temp running P95 is 78c. Logical justification is the most difficult problem with computer hardware.
NH-D15 is dual tower. NH-U14S TR4-SP3 is a single tower design and putting another fan on it won't help much. It runs 12c hotter than Enermax Liqtech TR4 360
NH-D14 is quieter
>fan in the middle

I have to agree, the 212 is p good fambly
Why is your fan at 750RPM at idle temps?
And why the heck is your CPU at 1.33V?
At that price they're expecting user to populate with fans from his extensive personal collection. Get one 2$ fan plus handwaving by sellers.
>@100% fan
Why do sites do this? It's a rather useless measure.
Despite the memes, FD R5's have good sound reduction. I don't notice the fans. Regarding voltage, EZ OC just does it like that I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Your CPU fan shouldn't be 750RPM at idle.
And the i5 6600k will normally turbo to 3.9GHz, so it doesn't even look like you're OC'd.
212 kepps my [email protected] going for 7 years
In the fan settings in the uefi I've set the speed higher than default for all temps. However if it shouldn't be at 750 at idle then what should it be, and why?
It's a good metric to use here because threadrippers throttle at 83c, which means with an ambient temp of 24c, an NH-U14 will get you throttled at peak load even if the fan is spinning at fastest speed.
By what logic
Not him but my case fans sit at 700rpm at idle. They don't need to spin much when not under CPU or GPU load, so may as well have them near silent.
My CPU spins at 900 at idle
Yeah I'm right there with you, which is why I am confused why idling at 750RPM is bad or abnormal.

This is impossible
Wait, never mind, I read the axes wrong.
You're thinking of the Le Grand Macho m8
>extremely loud and fast fans
>LGM
>Loud fans
What the fuck are you on about?
>delta increases vertically all around 38dB
I don't think that's right
>no hyper 212
>no pure rock
What the fuck kind of comparison is this? And why doesn't it include any of the most popular coolers?
Ambient is 37dB so that's when the fans would be at idle.
I forgot ambient noise existed, please ignore me
>212
That cooler is a joke. It's small and the shitty cooler master fan is, like everything from them, noisy. Don't know why they insist on using pure garbage fans on everything be it cases or coolers.
Be Quiet's coolers are amazing for the price, the huge 150W TDP rated Pure Rock combined with a 65W TDP CPU is absolutely silent even if you stress the CPU for hours. I honestly hate those flimsy metal clips they use to fasten the fan, though.
>the huge 150W TDP rated Pure Rock combined with a 65W TDP CPU is absolutely silent even if you stress the CPU for hours
And here's a 212 EVO doing the same thing on an undervolted 95W one:
Because the be quiet is super hard to install while the motherboard is in my case.
Also I replaced my Be quiet dark rock 3 with the Noctua nh-15s, so much better temps, much easier to install.
you're not overclocking.
no, it was the Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme
>320W TDP
>Speed: 600~2500RPM
>Noise Level: 21~45dBA
Path? That, my dear, blocks ram, gpu, airflow, and your case from closing.
judges you from afar
for me, its the phanteks PH-TC14PE
