I've been looking for an alternative to MPC since it's not developed anymore and I hate VLC, is MPV stable and fully usable for random usage?

So I just tried to rebuild mpv on my system and
[149/522] Compiling video/out/opengl/hwdec_cuda.c In file included from ../video/out/vulkan/common.h:26:0, from ../video/out/vulkan/malloc.h:3, from ../video/out/vulkan/malloc.c:1: /usr/include/vulkan/vulkan.h:51:10: fatal error: vulkan_wayland.h: No such file or directory #include "vulkan_wayland.h" ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ compilation terminated.
Waf: Leaving directory `/mnt/file/Downloads/mpv-build-git/src/mpv-build/mpv/build' Build failed -> task in 'objects' failed with exit status 1 (run with -v to display more information) ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build(). Aborting...
Any ideas?, I can make do with using the repo version for now but, I'd rather have the git build.

somewhere over here, just a few weeks ago was a script for subtitles, which provided showing the meaning of the words. Have you any clue which one was that?
use mpc-qt its based off libmpv but looks just like mpc-hc

>Greatest >can't play 4K videos without adding strange flags >flags that could have been incorporated in a menu that would change on the fly >or even better with some keyboard shortcut lazy software. The opposite of unix philosophy. Everything must be done right and simple!

>(Ie: Can my semi-tech illiterate wife use it without trouble?) No. Give her potplayer or VLC. You have to frequently edit your mpv configs because the retard devs think it's a good idea to keep everything outside the program so you need constantly to mess with the hardware acceleration features

>put keep-open=yes into mpv.conf >it no longer closes upon end rocket science, I know

Whenever I load up a file on its own, the subtitles in the first ~1:30 play fine, but when I load the same file as the first entry in a plaintext playlist, the subtitles don't display. They do, however, display after that amount of time has passed.
What the fuck kind of shenanigans is this?

How do I test whether my configs are working properly on windows?
Does MPV do any sort of logging if you can enable it?
Jose Parker
add vf=vflip if the video is flipped it works
Grayson Scott
Fact: 90% of users wouldn't notice if MPV was replaced with a 10 year old version of MPlayer

How is this better than VLC? My friend asked why.
Ethan Perez
isn't this a good thing?

Install vulkan dev shit.
Ryan Cooper
All my configs would break.
Brayden Thomas
Your friend sounds retarded
Noah Nelson
I would notice immediately because HDR tone mapping wouldn't be working.

Carson Butler
Is this a weird way of saying ordered chapters? Yes, it has for ages.
Ryan Scott
>Is this a weird way of saying ordered chapters? No.
Colton Long
What the fuck is a linked mkv then?
Carter Sanchez
An ordered chapter without the chapter.

How is this better than Plex?
Owen Martin
Plex's video player is based on mpv
Hudson Powell
Because it's a window that reproduces a video flawlessly, why u need VLC?
Charles King
Do you have an example?
Tyler Powell
what's a nice cinematic font to use?
Dominic Barnes
I have no idea what VLC is or does sorry
Aaron Hughes
Only madvr + media player classic or mpv are capable of perfect video playback with no dropped/repeated frames.
