Sup Forums friends who still use Windows 7...

Sup Forums friends who still use Windows 7, why don't you just make the switch to GNU/Linux or give in to microshit and install 10? We both know that Microsoft and everyone else (browser vendors, etc.) will stop supporting Windows 7 in 5-10 years, and your outdated OS will become insecure and unusable at that point. We also know that Windows 10 is supposed to be the last version of Windows, but even if Microsoft did decide to release "Windows 11" at some point in the future, it would still have all the annoying shit that makes Windows 10 bad (UWP apps, telemetry, update popups). Your best bet is either opting for a non-shit edition of Windows 10 and customizing it yourself, or ditching the Windows platform altogether and going GNU. You are doing a real disservice to your future self by holding on to the sinking ship that is Windows 7.

Don't recommend non-free software to people, please.

Just because it'll lose support in the future doesn't mean I have to switch right now. I'd rather wait with my superior OS until Windows 10 is either fixed or patched to the point of usability. In the meanwhile, it's just not comfortable to use. The whole UI and system messages treating me like a baby are harmful to my experience.
Linux-based operating systems are uncomfortable from a different perspective, and I'll need a lot more than stopped support to make me do the leap. I'll also need a course to figure out basic and advanced use of the OS. I tried some around 2010 and the mere process of installing and uninstalling a game was too complicated and unclear.

I'll wait those 5-10 years with my better OS. We'll talk then.

>muh unsupported will mean it's unusable
Nigger 99% of security is in the browser.

Too bad support for 7 will be dropped just like support for XP was, and you'll be left using a browser with unpatched security holes.

There are forks of Firefox that still work with Windows 2000. Please die.

Tip: If you look up for Microsoft products's life cycle you can read on their website that the support for "Windows 10" will end at some point. That kind of indicates launching a new OS in the future.
There's no sense on their words "Windows 10 will be the last" if it has a life cycle about support.

>5-10 years
Try less than 2

>5-10 years,
so 2-4 times the lifetime of an average machine?

I switched to Linux and use Win7 only for gayms.

Only gaymer manchildren buy a new machine every 2.5 years.

>LTSB 2019 maybe...
Likely not though, not sure what I'm gonna do unless they revamp 10 as in it's current state it's garbage...

>Sup Forums friends who still use Windows 7, why don't you just make the switch to GNU/Linux or give in to microshit and install 10?

Because
1) I have a job
2) 10 is worse than 7 on everything

i like games, i'm just waiting for valve's really fucking slow linux push to hit critical mass and dx12 can suck a dick

I switched to macOS(tm) and I regret nothing

>mother, father, sister all prefer 7
>cousins firm upgraded to 10, caused too many problems so they downgraded to 7
>my work still uses 7
>I still use 7
It just werks
UI is consistent and easy to find stuff
No forced updates

>t. Mr Poor

Tfw moved to linux from 7 since I had to install win10 to play the upcoming metro exodus. No way in hell I'm using win10 as my main OS.

.....bhahahAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

>in 5-10 years
THAT SOON!!!!!?

Lads I just made a new build, was forced onto windows 10 because windows 7 couldnt detect my Usbs and I had enough of trying to get it to work. Is there a recommended list of shit to do to make windows 10 usable

>Boot windows quickly to check a file on USB instead of using my Linux partition (i don't give a shit about windows).
>Can't open the file because there is an asterisk in the name
>Can't rename the file or even delete it
>Search on the web how to delete it
>pajeet's solution is to use the console
>thought that using windows was easy and "user friendly"
>Muhh argument you don't need use the console on Windows
What a shitty OS

Did you choose to be a real man and actually buy a Mac or are you one of those hackintosh faggots?

Windows 10 is amazing though. Why can't you use it as your main OS?

MacOS is a meme now. They tack on so much bullshit features instead improving their OS. I only use it now because nothing matches Final Cut for me right now

I would use win10 but the start menu is nigger aids, god it is HORRIBLE

>GAYMER FAGGOT

You can unpin everything and resize it to be more like Win 7 again

I just have a Windows distro for when I play games and I use Linux Mint for browsing/programming/general bullshit

Because i use OS for men, aka windows7 + vlite + good configuration

how can GNU even compete with Neo-luddism?

I will NEVER get the morons shilling for broken useless bullshit like mpv or loonix

Literally not fucking useable and half of the essential features to get a decent workflow missing

Heck mpv doesn't even have a fucking GUI lmao

Ever heard of a ms08 netapi exploit?

I use it to play GTAV and Witcher 3

I have windows 10 and it keeps force installing updates randomly with 0 fucking way to stop it, it's so god damn frustrating expecially when every fucking update there's always a chance it'll error or even brick your shit, also obligatory botnet, so go fuck yourself with a hornets nest faggot OP.

my soybook pro isn't compatible with windows 10 and any linux option for it will no doubt have some features not working (such as wifi, audio, etc)

Because you can't draw circles en gimp.

I'm still using Win XP. I'm thinking eventually I'll get a chromebook for web browsing and continue using the Win XP machine for everything else. For me "everything else" is primarily note taking with WordPad.

mpv allows you to change volume, language, or subtitles using the GUI, and you can use shortcuts for more advanced settings. If you want a video player that does things that aren't the job of a video player, you can always use VLC.

There are frontends like smplayer for it.

fuck, I still use xp

What the fug do you even have a computer for? Just get a fucking notepad.
