Why is your ping so high? My hybrid ping is faster than DSL somehow.
I'll have 3x of the speed after 2 AM but this is already 3x the speed of my DSL. Still better than nothing.
#justgermanthings
The ping is high due to the distance from me to the testing server. That server is the only one that I have found in Australia that can maintain a fast enough download speed without crapping out. It also doesn't help that I'm about 450kms away from the nearest capital city.
Romania reporting in. Planning to upgrade.
oh hi there

embarrassing

speedtest.net
>I pay $69.99/month for 150Mb/s down
Why so much?
I can get gigabit from comcast for that price. 2 gigabit for about double that.
Comcast pretty much owns my area. The only other provider with speeds like this around here is TDS fiber, and they only offer service outside the city. Still decent speeds and not too expensive.
FiOS is available in every part of DC.
Oh, I'm not in DC. I just always use the DC server so it's consistent every time. I'm actually in east TN.
Isn't Cumcast and Xfinity the same company?
Yes
5.4 usd per month for 30mb/s
Then why are they offering decent speed/price in one area and fucking people in the ass in the next area?
Because one area has a fiber ISP that is competitive, and the other area only has comcast.
That's how local monopolies work.
Exactly. I payed 40 € for DSL 2000 in Germany until November 2017. Now I pay the same for hybrid. The only pther option would be living without internet.
Are any of you fags with gigabit getting even half of your plan? I understand overhead and what not, but with att gigabit I have never, ever seen on steam for example more than 70mb/s and that was a spike, evenly I never get more than 30mb/s and that's like a Monday morning. Same with anything really, fast.com never shows more than 500mbps, etc y'all get my point.
I get 500-700mbps regularly on torrents
I rarely download on steam, but when I do it's always solid.
I also managed to download a windows 10 ISO from microsoft the other day in under 3 minutes.
Are you on Xfinity? What equipment do you have? I do have their provided equipment, I'm starting to believe att is fucking me.
Verizon, all equipment is whatever they provided.
Obviously using ethernet not wifi.
Public WiFi in Toronto. TELUS

Yeah i use it too wired. One time I got this response from someone:
"When you buy internet service, you are buying the link between the CO and your dmarc. AT&T has no control over everything else. If a website like Steam was to provide 1Gbps upload speed to everyone out there with gigabit internet, their servers would be going down pretty quick."
So no, you won't get 1000Mbps from websites. Only off att.com/speedtest"
To me that just seems like I am getting ripped off. In just a second I will go and try to download something off steam. And being a Friday night I'll be lucky to see 20mb/s
I think this is pretty good for a 29.90€/month plan.
>And being a Friday night I'll be lucky to see 20mb/s
Damn, here is my friday night result
Honestly sounds more like AT&T just have a shitty internal network, or they're too cheap to pay for adequate backbone peering.

I'll go test after I eat my dinner, but as much as I hate to do so, I'm going to see if Xfinity has gigabit here because this is ridiculous. I might as well be paying for the 300mbps plan.
There we go... I am averaging 120mbps... Is a fucking joke
yeah that's pretty shit for "gigabit"
I've pretty much never seen my steam downloads below 300-400mbps.
Useful for other things, like hosting websites, Dropbox-like filesharing (e.g. ownCloud/Nextcloud, syncthing, etc).
I can't wait to get NBN so I can start hosting my website and email at my house instead of 3rd party providers.
