That’s not what apple is known for. Giving your customers freedom means letting dummies break their phones which means they will blame the company for not making trustworthy products. That’s a dumb business strategy. You should want to establish consistent reliability in your brand image regardless of complains about “freedom”, and any android phone is not doing that.

hardware and software do not become magically better for being "integrated" by the "same" vendor. macs, pixelbooks and surface devices are build by chinese manufacturers and designed by american companys, the software is written by some dude in india mostly. the software is also written according to speculations of "what will sell". And the basis for said software is not to special afterall, mac runs xnu wich is just freebsd with mach bolted on and held together by hope mostly, pixelbooks run gentoo with the usual linux kernel and on surface devices its regular old nt. the browsers are mostly just webkit wich runs about the same wherever you use it.

This, people running Linux on a dell computer and just as stupid as people using windows.

How is maintenance? My only gripe about used devices is the motherboard or processor being in shitty condition for some reason. They're like 7 years old, after all.
