Is this considered OK in 2018??

I swear Australia is still in the early 2000's with internet technology

To be honest it's more than necessary for everyday work.

>faster than 91% of AU
Sad

i don't need faster than my 5 mb / 0.2 mb

Have you considered moving to a continent where they did not lose the war against birds?

Honestly, I would move to New Zealand if they didn't have such shit Internet.

>mfw 100/40mbps
>mad that cunts won't sell me anything faster

Perhaps this is a conditioning, to make the public think it's all we need.

Wait until VR content and 360 video are the norm on youtube, etc... Much more bandwidth again will be needed to watch the videos.

I honestly don't mind 50/20. It's really the backhaul capacity that's important when it comes to ISP's, not that they really give a shit about it

>Perhaps this is a conditioning, to make the public think it's all we need.

Doesn't help our government explicitly said that 25down 10 up was perfectly fine for people.

Only to have netflix become popular in the three years after, heavily straining the network.

kek

Gettin close to that 1% boy.

Would you happen to have a big nose?

I get pretty much same speed OP. it's easily fine for over 90% of people I would say. The majority in Australia don't give a fuck about internet or even know how to turn a computer on...

The main issue i think is that people who don't need good internet get it and people who want or need it cant even get it

get on my level

I'd say someone else is using all your bandwidth

jesus christ. Ring your ISP

This is way better than most connections in Australia.

Shared WiFi with 5 flatmates. Can I use ettercap to rate-limit those greedy bastards?

only because there's nobody there to use it

Look, the typical Australian household doesn't need anymore than 5mbps. In excess of 20mbps is just a costly waste, we are about being efficient and fixing up labours mistake. The internet isn't some infinite resource. With our technology of HFC and mixed copper networks more Australians can reach world class high speed broadband of 20mbps and we've delivered this under budget saving the Australian tax payer $30 billion dollars and connected 600,000 Australians monthly. Our HFC and copper mixed networks are world class, providing Australians with the fastest broadband available.

$5 for this

Attached: file.png (776x314, 36K)

Not the best outcome but I am happy enough going from a measly 3Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream to 20Mbps downstream and 5Mbps up for the same price.
That shit was suffering.

Upload speed is still dreadful but thankfully I don't upload much, mostly small documents.

Wifi

But that's just it... They want us to settle for less just because it's better than what we used to have. You know what's really fucking sad though? 4G in many cases is fucking faster than fibre optic, hfc or mixed copper.

only $2500/month for 3TB goyim

Attached: xd.jpg (350x200, 11K)

$250 a month.... FTTP for a "250/100" connection.....

Attached: 1.png (350x200, 21K)

I can't test my home network speed right now, but it's around 15mbps/7mbps

Upload is a little lower than it usually is (~2.4mbps) but sit at 115mbps regardless of time of day, no peak slowdowns even now when most nbn connections would due to "congestion". On the old HFC network and have to 'upgrade' to nbn in a few months over the same sort of network style. Hopefully will be able to get around 90mbps or so consistently.

Attached: speedtestres.png (350x200, 21K)

Why not go with another provider? Aussie broadband is a genuine solid choice, though they do have data caps but still for cheaper you could be on 100/40 and about 3TB maybe more. Friend is with them with FTTN nbn and gets 48/18 on speedtests on the 50/20 plan, and he's over 100km from the POI that his connection operates from (obviously node is closer)

yeah I am going to. my internet is fast from midnight up until about 4pm then it slows to a crawl. ISP hasnt and wont buy more CVC's to service my area.

WAKE ME UP INSIDE

Attached: Capture.png (1238x428, 74K)

Ah that's unfortunate but yeah that's the way most providers are operating with the NBN. The few that are buying CVC like Aussie BB and Exetel are going alright. Fortunately we're with Telstra on old copper and just enjoying it while it lasts as it's been great so far with no slowdowns at all for the past few years regardless of time, nothing during the evening certainly. Going to stick with them when we have to move to NBN and hopefully it will be favourable, otherwise might swap to Aussie Broadband as they genuinely manage their CVC capacity. Telstra already has capacity to all of the CVCs on the NBN and also partial ownership over one of the main trans-atlantic cables so hopefully they don't dud up our services when we switch over.

>TPG
You poor bastard. I hope that's not NBN, otherwise I would try and cancel contract and go with another provider as that's just bullshit and beyond pathetic in terms of speeds. They must have completely fucked over their CVC or just not bothered to buy enough capacity at all and don't care about their customers.

You are like little baby.

I dunno my Aussie internet is bretty gud

That treasonous fucker needs a beating.

in the middle of a city, i get this.

Attached: fml.png (800x312, 44K)

Probably, what part of ca

It's likely Optus not getting enough backhaul. They never really bother buying much capacity. Try changing provider maybe. Nowadays they don't lock people into contract due to so many cases taken to the telco ombudsman of them promising higher speeds and not delivering yet locking people in and refusing to allow them to leave the contract.

It's not bad everywhere

NBN in mid 2019, but it was HFC so god knows now.

I need to move out.

Attached: 3748896613.png (350x200, 21K)

I have 25 symmetrical where I'm at. It's enough for anything I do.

Those upload speeds are woeful, it's a lot more symmetrical when you're upgraded over to NBN HFC.
They're planning on upgrading to DOCSIS 3.1 which can bring gigabit speeds. That'll probably happen in 2 decades seeing how things are going.

2017 lmao

TPG is apparently shit, but it seems to keep a steady speed in my area. 50/20 plan, got a 'free' upgrade from an earlier 25/5 plan.

when was this ever considered acceptible

Not that bad considering i live in a shitty country and i pay about 25 euros for TV/unlimited landline/VDSL 40mb

Attached: speedtest.png (350x200, 22K)

4/2MBps is not that bad depending on how much you pay

Anything more than 20mbps for personal use is a waste. Those who need speed more than that are pirates and porn hoarder. Both are illegal and degenerate.

did your gym teacher touched you when you were a kid or something

What did I win?

Attached: 7147939201.png (350x200, 19K)

Yeah they might be woeful but still i enjoy the quicker download. 14.5MB/s through steam and a lot of other things, and can download at that for hours on end with no slowdowns. Obviously higher upload will be a lot nicer though, just hoping I keep close to the 100mbps I have at the moment and don't get a huge downgrade.

so what do you run on speeds like that? Multi cinema complex with 3d screens and a whole array of aircraft simulators plud the entire USA department of defence or are you just doing a bit of shopping on ebay?

I have around 8TB of anime and another 4TB of TVs and Movies.

I also seed around 1-2TB a month.

also, the cost for slower speeds isn't significantly cheap enough to warrant it.

Pic related

Hahaha, Austrialias internet is lightning fast compared to Germanistan
Its also expensive as fuck here
Even Africa has better internet

That is a lot faster than internet in Bulgaria, where 10mb/s download is considered fast. My internet was barely 1mb down and 2 up.

Is this good for $80/month?

I didn't know AT&T offered gigabit in California. Is that a residential line, and how much are you paying?

pricing should be similar to other gigabit offerings in the US. Anywhere from $60-120/month.

Yup, bad news is AT&T fiber is probably the worst fiber provider in the nation. They have garbage peering and you'll rarely see full speeds.

But you should still manage 150-300mbps on average for downloads which is way better than what you currently get.

You weren't alive in the early 2000s if you think that was the norm then.

That is patently false. I get 900+ up and down all the time. It costs less than 100meg Comcast and I don’t have a bandwidth cap.
