Thus far, it's been a really good experience! I can recommend it to anyone here. Though i feel like it could use some more polished UI elements and maybe some more usable features.

No, it doesn't. It has GSF dependency but so do many other fdroid apps. It will work fine without google services. You can also download the app from their site wire-app.wire.com

everything's pretty much the same when it comes to pairwise communication, but for group messaging someone really needs to put together an implementation/service based on ART: eprint.iacr.org
beyond that, there's nothing that includes a PQ-hard DH in it; it's not going to be nice to broadcast enormous lattice pubs, or even worse code-based pubs to everyone within a group.
the sweet spot is probably an isogeny DH with a classical ECDLP problem on a base curve that's held inside the public key or something, but I have no idea how you can fit that into a tree structure when there's key re-use attacks on SIDH, there's two differing isogeny degree public keys you need to generate, and I have no idea what I'm talking about.
