Comfiest desktop experience

My dudes, I fell for your Kgarbage and arch linux memes and now I'm back on Ubuntu 17.10. It's by far the comfiest desktop experience possible. Noobs, don't fall for Sup Forums memes.
I have one question : why the fuck aren't you using ubuntu?

Bloatware

>comfiest
GNOME that got completely trashed.
>why the fuck aren't you using ubuntu?
Because I know how a computer works and I don't need 1000 packages to help me use my computer.

>not using Ubuntu MATE
>not using Xubuntu
>actually using Unity desktop

Are you actually getting any work done?!

Install whatever works for you

Ubuntu if you want to have a working setup fast and don't care about customization, also good for people who don't want useless headaches
Arch if you need ridiculous rice and really want to be part of a community that is ran by children
Debian, Gentoo or Slackware if you actually know what you are doing
Red hat or SLE if you're a corporation

Ubuntu 17.10 switched to gnome my man. Ubuntu dudes tweaked it slightly to make it look like unity, but it's gnome all the way through.
>Are you actually getting any work done?!
Yes!! No more crashes/freezes/graphical glitches that I experienced on Kgarbage. Hold tight, I'll be shilling ubuntu and gnome in the coming days and expose Sup Forums's kgarbage memes.
Peace my bro.

That aint Unity.

>why the fuck aren't you using ubuntu?
I like OpenSUSE.

>my dude
>my man
>my bro
lmfao

>GNU/Linux distributions
>For home use, suitable for newbies and advanced users.
OpenSUSE, Fedora, Debian
>For NEETs, for learning what is Linux.
Arch, Gentoo
>For embedded use
Alpine, Linux From Scratch, Debian, Android.
>Enterprise desktop
Red Hat Linux, SuSE enterprise Linux.
>Server
RHEL, SLES, Linux From Scratch, Debian.

>>For home use, suitable for newbies and advanced users.
Fact : Ubuntu is the most popular.
>>Server
Fact : Ubuntu is the most popular
My dudes, why do you hate Ubuntu so much?

Where is ubuntu?

Linux Mint is better

Attached: sure.jpg (580x283, 98K)

>Server
>Fact : Ubuntu is the most popular
Not sure, but within home users it is popular.

I still don't get how it got so pupular
It's literally ubuntu but with a retarded dev team

Why Apple is so popular? For same reason ubuntu is.

My man, those are "distrowatch page hits". They don't represent real world usage. Ubuntu is literally miles ahead of any other distro for home and server usage. No comparison. Period. End of story. Done.

Why do people even use ubuntu for servers? All lunix servers I ever had to use were running centos or debian

I quit when they were sending my "local" search queries to amazon

mint and manjaro are my favorite OS's now

seriously, mint is ubuntu done right.

but I switched to manjaro because after a while, you have to upgrade your entire OS (just like ubuntu)
manjaro is a rolling release based on arch but more stable and easier to use

t. couldn't install gentoo

>but more stable and easier to use
Whoahoho! Are you in for some surprises. If you think Arch breaks a lot, you won't last very long with Manjaro. Once the Manjaro devs put their retard mojo on the kernel, it's all over.

>thinks hes smart because he knows how to install packages using the terminal
>mate desktop is an unstable pile of garbage
>xfce is an ancient pile of garbage that's still using gtk2
currently, if you want a desktop environment with the latest technologies that is also stable, GNOME is the best choice.

>lmfao
found the nigger

>latest technologies that is also stable, GNOME
timeout and polling
OH yes, GNOME is sooooooo modern

I use manjaro since october last year.

optimized it for privacy, security, rice and ease of use.

so far, I am really happy with it.

The on-by-default telemetry.

what bout solus

Why the fuck aren't you using Windows 10?

>android

Because it's meant for people with little/no knowledge of linux, and cinnamon is a good DE for people who used windows their whole lives. Maybe if there was an official cinnamon flavor of Ubuntu things would be different, since the average person who just installed linux for the first time wants everything preconfigured.

>t. NEETs with 2GB RAM and 1366x768 resolution

is there an argument for Xfce that doesn't boil down to "muh minimal resource usage"?

I'm using Kubuntu (new to UNIX so I'm sticking to a simple distro), which comes with KDE. I like how it looks, and I have a powerful computer so I could care fuck all if it's a bit more resource than other alternatives

Attached: KDE-vs-Xfce.jpg (600x300, 44K)

Mac OS is the consumer OS there is, bar none. There's no argument.

Attached: desktop-2M.jpg (5120x2880, 1.98M)

I have 4gb of RAM and, well same resolution..

5120x2880

Jesus christ, my tv doesnt have such resolution, do you really fucking need it ?

Not him, but if you're on 1080p or below macOS looks like dog shit.

because i use zorin and i actually like it a lot

I have been using 1920x1080 on a 55cm monitor since 2008 and never feelt the need to upgrade.
I mean, when I watch fullHD from across the room I can tell if the bitch has crabs or not, how much better can it get ?

Last time I used Ubuntu it was over 5 years ago, it took my computer nearly 20 minutes to load up a Live Installation on a Ram Disk, by comparison it took Mint less than 5 minutes to do so. I quit Ubuntu entirely back then.

>2011

It's High PPI 2560x1440, which people "need". So yes.

Because Linux Mint with the cinnamon desktop, Mint Y icons, desktop icons enabled, a nice watery desktop background, transparent panel theme, a very thick auto-hide bottom panel for favorite apps, and a very thin omnipresent top panel for account menu, all apps menu, clock, weather, and notifications, is much comfier.

KDE barely uses more ram than Xfce now.

Ubuntu's default file explorer can't be tiled and is a pain in the ass to permanently replace with one that can. Nautilus is clearly outdated, I'll switch to Ubuntu when Ubuntu switches to Nemo

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/nemo3
sudo apt update
sudo apt install nemo

wow, that was hard.

I'd really love to use KDE but I didn't find a good distro for it.
>Kubuntu is a buggy piece of shit
>Arch may eventually break
>Neon & Debian have packages as old as my grandma (don't ever mention testing or sid)
>Manjaro is a an Arch for retards
>openSUSE is the most bloated distro ever
>Fedora is moving too fast
>et cetera

Help me kudasai

I fucking hate Ubuntu but this stupid nigger is right. Distrowatch in NO way represents actual usage. it simply counts how many people were curious that day and clicked on a distro's Distrowatch page. So it's also extremely vulnerable to manipulation *cough Mint cough*. And by every actual way to count under the sun, Ubuntu is leagues ahead of everyone else. Mint isn't even in the game in any meaningful way. Ubuntu, Fedora/RHEL, and Debian utterly dominate the landscape. Everyone else are bit player also-rans.

I use lubuntu or some other meme *buntu instead. Bunsenlabs is a nice biggener friendly OS too.

I always change the WM to awesome though, because that's a top quality meme. Not worth ricing other than putting keybinds in, removing most of the pane modes, and changing the theme to zenburn.

And crashes way more

Just use Arch, don’t update all willy nilly

At least you have good tastes in music.

holy crap this looks worse than before

what did they do?

>Linux Mint

Stopped reading right the tqbh senpai

gnome

>Mint and Manjaro are my favorite
You probably use Linux because your dad got mad at you when you first installed it on his PC, and now you think it's edgy.

Is the background a cute anime girl or am I seeing things?

I like my XFCE setup personally. I've had guests over before who liked it and said it helped convince them they should move to linucks

for me it's cinnamon

Neon. Kubuntu is ass because KDE and Ubuntu basically have opposite develop/stabilize schedules. KDE makes a thing, and kubuntu keeps the shit versions because of Ubuntu feature froze at that time. Neon puts everything on KDE's schedule.

You can do a minimal install of Suse and install the desktop yourself

Or just use Manajro because that isnt really an argument

The comfiest desktop experience was made long time ago.

Attached: beos-aa.png (1024x768, 30K)

God is dead and so is your OS. Haiku is just taxidermy.

it's a nice taxidermy
just wish the legs didn't keep falling off

but seriously, Haiku has probably the best feeling UI available in $CURRENT_YEAR
shit's absurdly comfortable
kinda helps that Haiku's Tracker is a direct descendant of the BeOS one
if it were remotely stable, I'd probably struggle through trying to use it day to day (and admittedly, a lot of the software I use is ported), the UI is that nice

Found the racist. btw not black, just a Sup Forums noob

Solus is a comfier experience for the most part. It's GUI package manager isn't complete garbage and the whole OS along with Budgie is simple and easy to understand without any unnecessary bloat.

Only downside is that because it's still a new distro, it can be buggy sometimes although fixes are quick.

Good to see a happy camper.
Happy shilling champ.

Ubuntu 18, coming out next month by the way DOES NOT USE GNOME

Attached: 1405049605059.jpg (673x680, 336K)

Nonsense. Unity is dead, Ubuntu switched to gnome. It looks a little like unity, but it's gnome
arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/04/ubuntu-unity-is-dead-desktop-will-switch-back-to-gnome-next-year/

I'd say it looks like shit.

HURR MUH RAM
DURR MUH RESALUSCHAN

I get being too lazy for Arch/Gentoo or whatever
But why the fuck Ubuntu?
Solus, and hell even Fedora are like a billion times better.

I hopped fro Ubuntu to Fedora a while ago, and I have to say it was definitely worth it

I'm not using ubuntu because I'm sick of shit working half-assed. The comfiest desktop experience is actually a hackintosh, sorry pal :\

Attached: Screen Shot 2018-03-18 at 1.42.47 AM.jpg (3438x1440, 1.6M)

XFCE is insanely stable and does everything you expect it to with no surprises

This. People complaining about Arch breaking are usually just not careful about when they update. If you don't update constantly and just check irc before updating you'll know if there may be issues

Canonical literally just doesn't give a fuck anymore about desktop users, this is just them slapping something together

If you're not literally 15 years old or younger, you've used older versions of Ubuntu (11.04 and older) and know that modern Ubuntu is 10000% trash.

Even MATE doesn't really capture the perfection of oldschool Ubuntu.

Fuck yeah, gnome 2 with the top and bottom bars and the nice clean program menu. Absolutely no bullshit, no fuckery, and it looked classy as hell too

Ubuntu gnome is worst than fedora.
the shitty modifications to vanilla gnome limit customization

because i have grown to despise apt with a passion

How to reinstall Gnome with its default theme, not the Ubuntu theme?

try not being utterly retarded

I can't.

Attached: 1498343801586.jpg (600x663, 62K)

But neon has old ass packages. I don't want to depend on ppa

Stop shilling, Ubuntu mate is exactly the same as old school Ubuntu, it is even better

A little hint: stop posting. Lurk for two years before posting. Follow the rules.

>>Manjaro is a an Arch for retards
It's comfy and you don't have to worry about anything. Their driver detection works great. I installed Manjaro KDE with an hybrid gpu and it installed at that bubbleshit or whatever is called. Never had a single crash, and I still have pacman and all that shit, and I can instal mutiple kernels and switch them with a comfy GUI. Manjaro is for retards but it's the best distro for retards.

>iTunes

I find Antergos is better

is there a way to combine the ubuntu app sidebar and the taskbar, so it's Windows 7-like?

that's not comfy, it's just infantilizing

How's better? It's just an Arch installer. It doesn't have any of the advantages of Manjaro. No stable repo, no kernel manager, no manjaro hardware detection. I mean antergos is good for its purpose but it has nothing to do with manjaro. It's like comparing a debian quick installer with ubuntu (although in this case I'd also find the debian installer better).

it's an aardvark are you into aardvarks?

Okay then what does it use?

>comfiest
Wrong
pic related is the only correct answer

wow dude that looks lit as fuck
I wish I could afford a mac

I hopped from Arch to Gentoo. No regrets.
