I miss unity

this. I think I have to stick with 16.04 til 2020

as it seems there is going to be ubuntu 18.04 unity version.

aw hell yeah I'm hangin out here until I can figure out what to switch to

> Adp
user for fucks sake use ublock origin

>miss unity
That was a shit, user.

Why?

Attached: MuIYx1r.gif (245x250, 415K)

Also Sup Forums x for maximum lurking abilities.

Isn't Unity still around?

Sure. I'm probably going to kde next, I just haven't decided what distro. Maybe kubuntu 18.04

/Autism/

dostedt

OS X on PowerPC was more comfy than default Ubuntu today. Unity/Unity styled Gnome really is a fucking disgrace.

Because you have fucking ads on Sup Forums and adp is a scam

Oh I didn't know adp is a scam

/comfy/

Attached: Capture.png (1027x633, 97K)

I put it on ublock origin instead. it did get rid of the ads at the bottom of the page so thats good

serious question, why would anyone use ubuntu over plain debian?

etoile is dead.
unity8 pretty much died because cannonical *had* to waste resources on mir.
Ubports is a fucking joke

I'm using it because everything's already set up and because I know if I want newer software there's ppa's for everything, and debian forums/support can be full of assholes sometimes

Debian old shitty distro, Ubuntu modern and support all hardware in the world

Also I prefer unity

>uptime: 2min
Ubuntu is based on Debian Sid and the hardware support should be the same. Debian can be old but it can be modern as well, just put it on the same level as Ubuntu. It's going to be equally stable if the packages are the same versions.

>global menu
>HUD
>actually usable out of the box unlike GNOME
it was okay

gnome IS usable ootb

I'm on KDE myself. I think the community will keep unity alive.

If you want a ..buntu OS you should try KDE Neon.

Personally I use Manjaro with KDE since 3 years, highly recommend.

>uptime 3 hours

Attached: Capture.png (1920x987, 174K)

how to get the blur :^)

>uptime 29 days

You win
I just installed this last month. Put it on an Intel NUC

>bash

Don't be autistic.

I'm currently using arch with just openbox. Is KDE worth a try?

I don't know about neon, I don't think it's what I want for my main os. I would run neon in a vm for checking out features but I don't want to be the person getting hit with unforseen bugs from new software. KDE is great but I don't want to be a tester on my primary os.

Manjaro idk anything about. I think I'm really just not a rolling release person. Also I don't usually use derivative distro's. It took me forever to be comfortable with Ubuntu and that's one of the biggest distro's out there. We'll see though!

Attached: Screenshot at 2018-03-18 20-37-12.png (1920x1080, 1.38M)

why you got a menu at the top and the bottom

I don't use the bottom menu but i can't remove it either (or dont know how yet), but it doesn't bother me. The top one is removable though.

I see the Gnome shills are up in arms over KDE's recent ascension to best DE.

kde-dev
But I suggest waiting for plasma 5.13 which is going to include that blur instead of playing with unstable versions.

And from the bottom one i can search stuff, so it has its uses.

Which has proper window snapping/windows resizeable from all edges without jumping through a ton of hoops?

Openbox is the most comfy shit

Here you go user:

Whatever works!

Very cool.

Yep. I'm a blur fag and I too can't wait for plasma 5.13

facts

Gnome is unusable no matter what you do with it.

it's actually very nice in terms of usability

it's ugly

now wipe everything and build that on arch

Install gentoo.

KDE

that blur is gonna win me over, its irresistible

blur dev user here
I like your setup
I don't know if you noticed already but by default a noise is added to the blur
I see it is also enabled in your settings
is it noticeable?
is it distracting?
I made it look similar to how windows 10 fluent design looks (pic)
did you notice any visual glitch with the blur?
I hardly get any feedback on it from users (maybe because noone uses it yet?)

just wait until this summer

that's not even the old max blur right?

Attached: acrylic-material-layers-fluent-design.jpg?itok=dLaorbrc.jpg (1569x905, 133K)

Not the image at least

Not an user you're replying to, but thank you for your effort and keep doing what you do.
I love you.

5/5

Yeah I know about the noise. It looks good imo, though it should be kept kinda low. The only "glitch" I know of is that the blur not applied everywhere, e.g. Desktop Grid, see pic related.

Attached: Screenshot_20180318_221414.png (1920x1080, 959K)

noice

>The only "glitch" I know of is that the blur not applied everywhere, e.g. Desktop Grid, see pic related
I don't know if that will be or can be fixed
some other animations also disable the blur, like the minimize/maximize, magic lamp, wobble, slide in, basically window transforming animations
that is a known bug and may be fixed later

also you could try my window decoration theme if you like transparency

thanks

Do you think it could be possible to blur the "titlebar" in software that uses CSD like firefox?
Pic related

I thought the blur was what everyone hated about windows lmao

posting comfy in comfy thread

Spanish

Unless the toolkit or firefox supports it, then no.
It's called Client Side Decorations for a reason.

I fell in love with it in vista. In fact, The aesthetics was the only thing I liked about it.

Second.

Talk to me about clover OS. Isn't it literally just installing Gentoo? What are the differences, besides some rice that you could easily achieve on Gentoo?

God mate that looks like canned dogshit how can you use that without stabbing yourself in the face?

Ubports is working on Unity 8 desktop

see

I'm still using it, user, so should you.

it's prericed gentoo with an install script and insane CFLAGS
try it if you want minimalism and performance and can't be arsed to install gentoo completely manually

I think you can set the gtk headerbar to transparent, by just defining an rgba color or using the opacity keyword.
ie.
headerbar.default-decoration {opacity:0.5;}

Never tried though.

lovely

I want to have secks.

dont encourage that trash

Plasma is sexy

/very comfy/

who peed in your cereal?

the people who continue to ruin any sort of aesthetics that currently exists
so stop encouraging them :)

>comfy
This makes me irrationally upset for whatever reason.

the fatso bears the burden of his autism on his shoulders in a straight posture.

what's aesthetic by your standards?
GNOME? Windows 10? OS X?

Dumbasses, "aesthetic" doesn't mean "good looking". It literally just means it's man made and looks like something.

pish posh

Someone post arch with an unconfirmed LXDE desktop.
Comfy af looking
