Have you guys noticed lately that movie occasionally refuses to close? It'll sit there using 20MB of RAM refusing to close
Have to kill the process

Mpv*
Fucking phone posting

>no madshi
>no haasn
It's strange...

>threads keep dying
Is it over?

Haasn is pretty active. Madshi on the other hand...

Could you prove it?

There isn't any new big feature to discuss.

>no new big feature
It's over.

Check his GitHub.

Thinking about switch from dead™ MPC-HC. Does MPV support x265 HEVC and 10-bit HDR through nvidia hardware acceleration?

>Does MPV support x265 HEVC and 10-bit HDR
Yes.

>nvidia hardware acceleration
Does HEVC have hardware decoding yet?

Dunno about Maxwell cards but my 1070 is basically idle during HEVC playback because it has a dedicated decoder for it. It was actually one of the reason I bought it on release in 2016

>tfw the auto sub download scripts only work on lunix
why live

Yes it happens sometimes...
Wait for next release or report the bug if it really bothers you

OK I tried the latest version and it used CPU so I'll stick to MPC for now. MPV is getting there and versions with GUI are almost usable now. Almost.

Doesn't even work on lunix

Hardware acceleration is off by default for good reason. You can enable though in your conf file.

Why not just using potplayer with madvr?
There are optimised CNN upscalers, very good compression artefacts remover, optimized smoothmotion, auto HDR and so on.

Why not just use mpv?
It has optimised upscalers, very good compression artifact remover, video-sync=display-resample, HDR, more customization, more features, is FOSS, and crossplatform.

>find some subtitles downloader
>REQUIREMENTS: Python
fucking hell why

It has no compression artefacts remover, just a really simple debanding algo.
RAVU and FSRCNNX are slow compared to NGU and NGU-AA, so they are not optimized.
Display resample is very good but has weird issues with old hardware.
HDR is a mess in mpv...

>for good reason
Yeah and hundreds of million TVs sold with HEVC decoders are a scam too.
Fuck off shill, now you showed yourself.

>our shit doesn't work but it's not our fault

lol, you're retarded. mpv is made to play on all types of hardware.

why does it suck then? I mean my chink TCL tv can play hevc without problems like these and so does MPC
get fucked shill

See And its not just different hardware but different OSs too. Is Sup Forums still down or something?

My pc can play HEVC with out problems using mpv. I'm guessing your on windows, have you tried different APIs or gpu-context? I'm using windows with vulkan and it performs better than any other player I've used.

Most TVs do suck though. Often they come with motion interpolation and other nonsense.

how do i change the mpv settings? i cant find the config file

on which os ?

windows. i read the manual and went to the mpv folder in roaming but it was empty

you have to create a "mpv.conf" file with the notepad

oh, ok thanks

How do I make it so MPV opens on a certain monitor?

I've got
geometry=1245:0
autofit=1280

In my conf but it If I open on one monitor it opens on that monitor and open on another it opens on another.

I want to be able to click on one in the other but have it open on the same monitor EVERY time.

Cheers

RAVU very high is faster than NGU AA medium. HDR to SDR looks miles better in mpv.

Protip to all using MPV:

Don't keep the Desktop as your screenshots location.

I found out that was the source of a bug when I had 6000 anime screenshots causing explorer to crash even though I had show icons off.

Right clicking on the subtitle and audio track buttons should list all the available options.

>madvr

Came here to post this.

Does someone mind sharing the lines in their config to always prioritize JP audio and ENG subs?

alang=jpn
slang=eng

How do I modify subtitle offset?

>mpv.io/manual/master
>ctrl+f offset
>click next until desired option is found.

Thanks, I put in en and jp as well just in case.

I want Streamlink to use a different config than regular how do I command line to a different config in the same directory?

regular config is just mpv.conf
want to change to mpvStream.conf when ran from streamlink

Have you tried autoprofiles? You only need one conf file.

Can you explain this further?

>6000 anime screenshots
WTF

Nevermind I figured it out.
Thanks.

Yea it's prett self-explanatory. Depending on what you want to do it may take some creative thinking. I have a basic setup for streams

# Streams
ytdl=yes
hls-bitrate=max
ytdl-format=bestvideo[height

why does using vulkan cause my 8700k to run at its max frequency even with dxva2-copy enabled with no hq profile?

oh ya, for a shitty 720p h264 youtube video

Whats your config?

#profile=gpu-hq
#scale=ewa_lanczossharp
#cscale=ewa_lanczossharp
hwdec=auto
video-sync=display-resample
#interpolation
#tscale=oversample
ytdl-format=bestvideo[height

I usually don't bother with these arguments and I can't believe I'm defending madvr in an mpv thread but -
Even after somewhat recent improvements mpv is still seriously lacking in HDR > SDR. For the most part I think it's the red spectrum that's causing issues, I did heap of testing not long ago and that was certainly the most obvious and glaring issue. Fire for example came out as this horrible dull colour while madvr seemed to accentuate the colour spectrum resulting in a very rich colour.

Add
gpu-context=winvk
#vd-lavc-dr=yes
#spirv-compiler=shaderc
Try with and without the commented out options. Also, if you have integrated igpu make sure you select your gpu to use mpv

Attached: 45645.png (850x683, 56K)

I tried all of those and it's still running at max frequency. I have the igpu disabled, only using a 1050ti

Madvr looks too cartoonish to me. What mpv version you tested it with?

Not sure then, are you sure you're config is even being loaded? There shouldn't be high cpu usage when hwdec is enabled. And are you using newer version of vulkan?

Attached: 754564.png (799x72, 10K)

well it loads my other settings like no-border and ytdl stuff. I'm using whatever vulkan comes with the latest nvidia drivers.

I don't remember specifically, I tend to mindlessly update mpv weekly without thinking about it
It would have been the latest shinchirobuild from around that time

I've noticed though that it will not use dxva2, only dxva2-copy

No errors? Might be something else wrong with your system, idk.

well it doesn't run at max with opengl

actually nevermind yes it does. On a 3mbit jellyfish h264 video lol

ok I think I found what's causing it. The video-sync=display-resample option. If I comment everything out it will stay at a low frequency but if I just add only that one option in then it will put my 8700k at max.

By does it matter that your CPU is running at a high frequency?
Frequency =/= CPU usage

well I don't really think a 720p 3mbit video should make a 8700k run at 4.4ghz. If anything it's just wasted power consumption.

Then don't use Vulkan? d3d11 werks really well for me on new Nvidia cards.

seriously, please give me a sub download script that works on windows

so I finally figured out how to do bass boost

af=volume=volume=0.4,bass=g=10:f=80

Thank me latter

correction, to prevent clipping you need to lower the volume more

af=volume=volume=0.125,bass=g=10:f=80

So what's the AUR package for the latest mpv? I don't want to compile it is there any?

okay, odd I must have used an older build by accident when setting things up.

what does this player have to offer over MPC+Codec Pack+SVP ?

You get rid of Windows

is ffplay better than mpv?

d3d11 doesn't vsync correctly

werks for me™

I'm not a Sup Forums-tier autist but not a tech illiterate normie either but I don't understand how mpv works.

Optimal config for watching animu?

>I'm not a Sup Forums-tier autist but not a tech illiterate normie
>but I don't understand how mpv works.
Nice try normie. mpv isnt hard to setup. Either is using the archives for example configs.

use a profile? Why different .conf?

You're probably a "gamer" who forces VSync off in the control panel. Change it back to "Use the 3D application setting" and VSync will work with d3d11.

Attached: use the 3d application setting.png (500x131, 5K)

no I don't force vsync off

Do you have it set to Fast or Adaptive?

no I never even touched it
