>That bezel

It's not a huge issue for me in all honesty.

im having a no-handed orgasm as we speak so that's a yes.

You could put some really neat stickers on that area. That would make it look even cooler.

Did they ever end up making that retro thinkpad they were talking about a while back?

Aren't they all sort of retro?

But like actually retro, in the style of the old IBM ones.

You mean like bulkier and squarer?

It would be perfect for a really rugged field laptop, otherwise, what's the point?

To answer my own question, yes they did end up making it.

Too bad I'm broke.

dude it's just a t470 with a t420 keyboard
it's a scam for the reddit audience that listens to Sup Forums from a distance

Still looks sort of cool

Lol no. It's as if you took all the worst parts of classic thinkpads and windshit and then removed the best part of classic thinkpads

Also that bezel is fucking gay.

No, that thing is superseded, not worthy vs. the quad core T480 and T580. Get an older one or the latest, not this POS.

i haven't actually touched these since my ibm thinkpad died. lenovo is just more chinese junk. i've had an acer and a hp running like champs for 10 and 7 years respectively. how long do these chinkpads even last? they look flimsy to me and the fan was buzzing in the display model i looked at about a year ago.

>keep the worst part of classic thinkpads (the looks)
>remove the best part of classic thinkpads (the modularity, the build quality, the I/O options)

Wow so amazing!

My T430s is still chugging along after six years. I'm extremely happy with it.

> dual core
2018 is the year of the quad-core laptop.

>25 watt quad core
news flash Lenovo unlocks the full 25 watts on all the dual core chips since broadwell

The hinge makes it so that ports cannot be placed in the back of the machine.

Why have a machine that can't have Ethernet and power in the only logical place?

Dude, the 2018 T series Thinkpads all go up to 45 watt with an optional 15 watt setting.

Yeah, but it's the same new garbage with the old logo iirc.

Just a T470 with a different keyboard. The keyboard feels nice desu but Lenovo is utterly retarded for not making it an optional keyboard for the new lineup. Hell, I'd pay extra for that option. Nobody ever wanted a special edition. I blame /r/thinkpad for this, retarded Reddit faggots losing their mind over a shitty plastic keyboard on one year old hardware.

You do know we have a dedicated thinkpad thread, right?

>dual core

their product naming scheme is fucking retarded

why are there so many models

The only actually good thinkpads are the P workstations
And even those seem to have some firmware problems

>45 watt
That's how much my W520 uses. How do you even cool that in a smaller form factor?

aget a T480 you dumb mother fucker. Or a T580 with UHD display

Ask /tpg/.

The moment kaby lake-r was announced all kaby lake laptops lost the Sup Forums seal of approval. Doubly so at the announcement of ryzen mobile.

Either that or a 4-core Covfefe clocked to a pathetic 1.6GHz, pick your poison

Barely, but the T480/T480s seem to do a pretty good job compared to competitors.

Ryzen mobile is 4c8t and is pretty damn fucking good

Those aren't even available to buy yet, are they?

What's the best modern generation of X series? I have the X230 and from what I understand there are newer generations with crazy battery life out there. I just don't want to downgrade otherwise just to get some battery life.

Really great point. I didn't notice first, and I am also a huge fan of ports on the back.

X/T/W are different sizes/powers. Pretty simple. P is basically W. A T with an s at the end is slower powered, similar to an X. The others don't matter.

X280 is amazing except for:
>soldered ram (at least they now have a second empty slot for a second stick, still sucks
>only one non-exchangeable battery
>same size as the x1 carbon which has a 14 inch display, they could have at least turned into a 13 incher.

Not for other than Thinkpad

i have the t470s from work i7-7600U , 16gb ram, 512gb ssd. It's literally trash. no nvidia GPU.
Battery is okay. Should've picked the P50

Still X230. When X280s become much, much cheaper and the X230s start becoming painfully old, that'll be the upgrade - nothing in between is worth it.

>only one non-exchangeable battery
That sucks. That means the laptop will have a calculated end of life predetermined. No battery lasts forever, it's nicer to be able to swap a new one if it's the only thing going bad.

Why the bezelphobia?
