>It's rarely so simple to give a firm verdict on a smartphone, whether it's a flagship or not. But Sony has a winner here, as the XZ2 Compact is one of the best smartphones right now and it's cheap at that. It pulls a real OnePlus in today's insane race of premium prices. But it also does an excellent one up from the previous XZ1 Compact model with better screen, camera, performance, and sound.
Pros >Very compact footprint, not that bigger than the XZ1 Compact >Solid, ergonomic, and grippy water-proof design >Snapdragon 845 chipset >Efficient battery life >Excellent daylight and low-light image quality in high resolution >Great 960fps slow-mo videos in 720p and 1080p resolution >Impressive stereo speakers and audio quality >Cheap for a flagship by today's standards
Cons >The chubby design is not everyone's cup of tea >No audio jack >Lacks the new Dynamic Vibration System and wireless charging
>Sony has tried and succeeded in fitting everything that's cool and cutting-edge into this XS-sized smartphone. So, everything boils down to pricing. Is the Xperia XZ2 Compact among the best new smartphones €600 can buy?
>Unchinkphones >Nokia, iPhone, Sony Yeah, totally unchink...
Wyatt Lopez
Android was a mistake.
Christopher Richardson
that's a looong face

Which one to grab ? redmi 4x or redmi 5a ?

>The chubby design What did he mean by this?
Matthew Perry
Okay guys I have a LG G5, and I am fucking done, never again am I buying a big brand phone, what a piece of garbage. What's a good chinkphone, and where to buy it ? I want a good camera, the rest isn't that important.
Grayson Martinez
I just caved and bought a 128g pixel 2. was this a good idea?
Isaiah Nelson
What's better between Newpipe or Youtube vanced?

well at least they didn't fucked the design with an itoddler notch atrocity. hope they managed to fit the fingerprind sensor under the screen and it will have a double camera.
Juan Reed
no headphone jack so its automatically a shit phone
Charles Cruz
Should I get an S7 or the Moto Z2 Play? They are around the same price but the S7 seems more powerful.
Tyler Nelson
cause it is retard. I don't like Samsung's design it's an instant no-no for me, but you do as you please
Ethan Nguyen
N4 might finally be giving up on me. Is there anything like Nexus phones in 2018 i.e. high-spec, reasonably priced? Shoot me some recs.

What's the go to rom for the original pixel xl?
Leo Nelson
Lineage
Blake Robinson
What are the go-to ROMs for Samsung flagships these days? I'm still on CM 12.1 on my Note 3 but about to upgrade to an S7 and trying to figure out my options. Tried upgrading my CM to Lineage and my firmware is too old so my SIM card won't work. The only likely fix is to download a new one and hope it works, but a download of it from Sammobile will take 6 fucking hours.
Grayson Collins
Can you be a bit more specific?
Anthony Kelly
You'll have to backup data Flash your modem etc from the xda forum
So apparantely some of my apps need google play services with all permissions checked in order tk function (needs access to sms, caalls, camera, mic etc.). Should i allow play services access all this shit, or is that sacrificeing the rest of my privacy? Or im just paranoid af
Landon Adams
AFAIK once you upgrade, you can't go back... Stay as you are
Sebastian White
I had random HTC's and LG's and they all had this feature
Gavin Johnson
- Best user experience on an Android that will last me 2-3 years with eligibility to be traded in for a new model if it goes south. A good screen, great software with little bloat that can be used on any network with modern internals. - Decent build strength and a good selection of cases and tempered glass screen protectors. (The fact I have to say that annoys me, OnePlus phones have fuck all for tempered glass protectors)
Nokias are designed in Finland by HMD global, Sony phones in Japan and apple phones in the US
Alexander Gonzalez
Regular one, the XL is LG and therefore shit.
Always go HTC over LG.
Luis Morgan
The screen of the xl is shit.
Cameron Gray
how did they make a bezeless screen so bezelled. It might be the ugliest >$400 phone of 2017
Adrian Scott
I thought about that too. I heard the newer ones along with the contrast display updates it isn't so bad so I thought about it. If I buy a Pixel 2 on eBay will Google still support it? I'm worried in case it bites the shit or something similar and if they'll replace it or exchange it for the Pixel 3 when it comes out or give a discount towards it.
Considering that they gift a PS4 for preorder, it may be worth it.
Evan Bell
soyphone 6s plus or oneplus 5 Upgrading from 5 years of android and 0 years of ios, maybe its time to see what the other side is like? ios just looks so comfy. Maybe im just getting tired of android after 3 years on my current s4...
You'll get tired of iOS quickly, it's not much different feature wise to Android so you won't miss much by not using it.
The handsets are nice though.
James Sanchez
Should I root my Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact?
What would be the benefits? I previously had an xperia from two years ago and used Sony Concept Software, which is no more maintained sadly. I don't want playstation store and facebook bloashit on my phone, but what are the other things I can do with root?
You will probably regret it. Android has it's flaws, but iOS is just shittier in any way.
Jayden Lee
I am amused by the fact someone only complains now despite the fact I put it into OP last time already.
Carson Morgan
I found a Galaxy S7 for $400 at B&H Photo. When i emailed them to ask if it was new, they told me it was "open box", they opened it to unlock the phone, and it has no official warranty. Is this a sneaky way of telling me it's used? The site says its "not pre-owned" but it seems suspicious.
how? customisation of home screen doesnt really bother me desu, just sick of material design and the lag fest that is my s4
Brayden Collins
Don't bother with a 6s plus unless you can get one used on the cheap, they have maybe another 2 years of OS updates before Apple puts them out in the cold.
I went to an iPhone SE after 3 years on a Blackberry Z10 and one very horrible year on an Moto G4 Plus (thanks Sup Forums). Overall I like it, but I think I like the size (much closer to my Z10) and battery life more than the OS, which just seems unremarkable to me. The best I can say about it is that it works very well but not flawlessly out of the box, and requires very minimal interference (which is good since you can't change anything). The inclusion of a proper backup option is nice, and something that really, really ought to be on Android, seeing as we used to have it on Blackberry OS 5 way back when.
This, in terms of functionality there is very little difference between the two, despite how passionate some people get.
Android and iOS are both complete shit compared to BB10. God damn we did not know how good we had it; even just having a proper and functional file manager out of the box was great. People panned the gesture-based interface but you know what, Apple is now doing the exact same shit with iOS, and I bet you Android will follow suit before long.
tl;dr the one good mobile OS is dead, so take your pick between the two shit options that remain.
The screen got larger but the actual physical size of the phone is not much bigger. It grew by like 6 millimeters.
Kevin Sanders
I've been on 5.0.1 ever since I got the s4 so I imagine that ill be fine with the whole obsolete (+ im planning to upgrade again back to android after 2 years). Was thinking of buying one new since used iphones (or phones in general) though im no stranger to used phones since I found my s4 in a field and kept it after not being able to trace back to anyone (no sim card in, a couple apps installed but other than that it was fresh, makes me wonder how it even got to that point). Battery life seems to be really good on the 6s+, but I wouldnt trust it after some retard has used it for a year or 2 to last another 2 years.
I think ill get on fine with the restrictive OS since I use my phone like 1-2 hours per day as I sit at my computer all day. Thanks user for the input
Ian Phillips
Don't get an S7. Their batteries are total dog shit.
you'll like it at first but that'll be just the novelty, once it wears off you'll see all the infuriating little details and you'll regret it
i have one
it was a gift
and i'm have practically no say in what goes on with my phone. if you go through make sure you get it with ios 10 because despite being worse in almost every other considerable way, ios 11 will suck your battery like it's money. can't wait for this piece of shit to die on me
i've been looking into the oneplus 5t and i've liked it a lot but it has bad rep here for being chinkshit so i wouldn't know about that
Aside from how it started the whole "lol no headphone jack" trend, for which I still resent it, the iPhone 7 is just a really solid performer and there isn't much that you can fault it for, aside from slightly underwhelming battery life.
Better hope your computer is Windows or Mac OS, because boy is it ever a huge pain in the ass to manage an iPhone with Linux.
Adrian King
I am doing the same from a moto X pure, although I think it is actually an upgrade. Anyway, I paid $350 for mine (32GB). How much did you pay for yours?
Cameron Garcia
No jacks is stupid but I bought a PMP anticipating my next phone would not have one so don't mind as much as I previously would have. Also wondering how long I can take advantage of that cheap battery replacement after Apple admitted to throttling people and made the cost $29. Unless that was a permanent change, in which case good.
Phones are overpriced in Japan so my used (though A rank, basically new with no box) was around $400 USD for 32gb. I could get network restricted ones for cheaper but this is the cheapest I could actually use.
Jackson Evans
Windows lol I don't know why anyone would not at least dual boot with windows, pure linux just seems a little shite for the average joe
you should consider yourself lucky, its about £400 for 32GB Grade A condition over here >buying literally any non plus model why? much smaller battery, lower res screen, no dual camera meme for you to not use. Would shell the shekels for the plus always
Ryder Murphy
I think the $29 deal is only for 2018. After this year, no more at-cost replacements.
I'm debating if I should get the battery replaced on my iPhone SE. I only got it a few months ago and it's a little over a year and a half old, but the guy who owned it before me said he used GPS a lot and charged it "sometimes twice a day", so I dunno.
Jacob Nguyen
>>buying literally any non plus model >why? Less money.
Jeremiah Jenkins
I can choose between 7 and 6s plus and I would take the 6s plus any day since the battery mainly
and the whole no headphone jack meme
Colton Green
that and moving from a 1080p screen to a 750p screen is literally a downgrade, as well as the screen size is too small for me
Nolan Gutierrez
I opted for the iPhone 7 over the 6S plus because of the new, better performing A10 chip. I'm willing to sacrifice battery life
Aiden Robinson
Is going from 1080p on a larger screen to 750p on a 4.7in. screen really that noticeable though? I know with both cases you can't see the pixels, so what's the big deal? Both screens are great looking!
Logan Long
and the screen size and res too many compromises for me but if it suits you then it suits you, user. what has come to my attention is a 32GB 7+ for £60 more than 6s plus 64GB... worth it? I'm not much of a storage hog as again I dont use my phone tonnes and ive been getting by on this 16GB a little cautiously but still fits a lot on. bite? hows the /nojack/ life been?
Caleb Davis
>why? Because if you have a computer, your phone doesn't need to be larger than 5"
As for pure Linux, yeah, it's usually kind of a shit experience. Right now I have a gaymen desktop running Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 on a Thinkpad L430 (don't judge, I got it for free). The Linux install is fine for basic tasks but I find myself frustrated by the number of things that it can't do. I've thought about putting Windows 7 back several times now.
Tyler Anderson
Oneplus 2 on carbonrom with twilight substratum theme. also AM3D Zirene sound mod. fucking great
opinions?
Josiah Reyes
Um. Where are you able to find a 64GB 7+ for 60eu more? Did you mean 32GB?
Brody Williams
no experience in dual booting (vmfag here) but from my friends that have done so, they rate it positively. It's probably worth the hassle honestly so you can get the best of both OSs
And even being a handlet, I really want a 5.5" screen since 5" still feels small for media consumption (youtube videos, porn) so going to 4.7" is just a straight up downgrade to me >just watch porn on your desktop no. out of habit I only use my phone. probably because I still live with my family so I dont want them opening my room door to me busting a nut.
Parker Gonzalez
I'd do it if I were you. At least as far as my personal use goes, battery concerns start to impact the entire way I use the device. Noticing a degrading battery means I start to use certain apps less, turn on low power mode often, sacrifice viewing brightness out of battery paranoia, etc. Would rather pay the $29 at some point, get a battery refresh, and continue not caring for a lot longer.
>buying literally any non plus model >why? Cost and size mainly. The resolution on screens this small is irrelevant after a certain ppi. The dual camera thing is also whatever if I don't care about portrait mode, which I don't.
William Kelly
32GB 7+ for £60 more than a 64GB 6s+ it was written there but this should spell it out
Coming from 441ppi to 326ppi is going to feel like a downgrade no matter what, especially since I get the whole price thing, but it feels like too much to sacrifice for me at least, to shave the coins off the pricetag
Jaxson Sanders
>opinions? Oneplus 2 is outdated.
Justin Gonzalez
>Coming from 441ppi to 326ppi is going to feel like a downgrade no matter what On paper yes, but in the flesh. You will be hard pressed to differentiate between the two.
Logan Ross
Seems sketchy, and that price is too damn high. I got one for about 300 bucks a year ago.
it wont be as bad as it seems due to the diamond pentil meme that is amoled displays but even then why should I pay more money than I was planning to on a phone that is a downgrade in some major areas (particularly screen size. 4.7" may be comfy for you but its cramped for me) Ive seen a couple iphone non + models and desu the pixels are noticeable if youre particularly looking (which is, if youre particularly looking which you wont be most of the time)
