>be me >poor as fuck >decide to get a new PC >"get 16GB user, you will need it" >spend literally all of my money on that pricey RAM >get new PC >the biggest RAM usage I've had is 7GB >never gone above 8GB >literally zero money now >mfw I'm gonna get evicted because of falling for the 16GB of RAM meme
Do do realize that no RAM goes unutilized OP? If it's not being partitioned for application use the remaining space is used for application and disk cashe, so it still does speed up your PC. But surely you're just memeing and are not that fucking retarded.
I'm quite the opposite, I fell for the "8GB is all you need meme", partially due to RAM prices, and looking to jump to 16GB. The problem is my old 2x4 kit will be useless to me.
Jace Reyes
>The problem is my old 2x4 kit will be useless to me. Did you seriously buy some Micro ATX / ITX board that has only 2 RAM slots?
Asher Edwards
Should've bough those RAM sticks a couple years ago. Last time I checked a couple months back the prices were double of what I paid for in 2015, for the same sticks. And the prices were doubled just recently then too.
For laptops its man, would recommend desktop for gaming though.
Ethan Mitchell
for 400 bucks it's fucking worth it, it works for what I need.
Kayden Kelly
300 is kind of a lower number for a processor SKU. The "HQ" suffix means it's a higher performance, higher wattage cpu though so it might work out anyway. The biggest issue you'll be facing here is heat production though. A laptop can only handle so much before it has to start throttling, and that's where both CPU and GPU will count for nothing if the laptop doesn't feature a godlike cooling solution.
the mobile 1060 is slower than the fucking 3GB desktop version, so keep that in mind. You're not getting an actual 1060.
Dylan Diaz
Cheers guys, thing is I already have a PS4 which covers quite a lot of games I'd be interested, the laptop would most likely be used for grand strategy games etc and the odd PC game that stands out to me or needs mods etc.
Also as work occasionally makes me travel it would be used for those times.
From what I can tell then a 1060 is likely overkill for a laptop and just going to eventually brick itself from heat strain/damage?
Dominic Gonzalez
For some reason I was under the impression/delusion that the 10 series are the same across both or at least very similar?
I would also presume that this is a 3 GB as it refuses to say anywhere on the site. Either way surely it's still faster than a 1050ti and therefore quite decent (especially as I'm a consolefag and therefore happy with 30fps)?
Sell it and buy 8gb then you stupid sheep. Maybe if you weren't a gullible faggot you might be a decent shitposter. Why do niggers still make these threads.
Kevin Barnes
Hey mate, I'm just tired people shilling their company and shitting on the other side, when in reality both companies only see customers as a means of money, not your fucking friend. But no, it's always "g-g-got to hide the negatives of the company I am shilling for, because I believe the other company is worse, so we got to be on equal fair, jewish tactics ground"
Chase Bailey
I mean, if I order 2x8GB and run all my sticks at 3000MHz then I won't mind having 24GB of it. I don't think I get quad channel though.
Jayden Harris
That's a pretty ballin' laptop for that price. If I didn't already have a 1060 desktop I would buy. You'll probably have to add RAM in the near future, but if it doesn't throttle, you wouldn't build a cheaper desktop with those specs today anyway.
Michael Powell
performance difference between single channel and dual channel: pretty big
performance difference between dual channel and quad channel: meh
word in the street is you'll get 1700 performance with the 2600. How does that make you feel.
Noah Davis
Muhahaha, I have bought my 16GB ram for 75€.
Blake Perry
nah, that'd be a >30% perf increase over zen 1 impossible
Landon Russell
There's no fucking way. I'd believe it if it was Zen2, but this is just a refresh.
Evan Lee
>asus dont do it
Liam King
>fell for the 8GB meme >had to give my wife's son up for adoption to afford the extra 4GB >never use more than 3GB
Christopher Reyes
>decide to build new PC few years ago >dont fall for the 16gb ram meme >ok >fast forward to today >ram prices skyrocket >should have just fell for the 16gb ram meme
