Running URXVT, and for some reason no matter what I do I can't get fonts to work/ change properly. Every time I try setting a different font, it either completely breaks the entire terminal, or it just defaults to the same exact font every time. I don't even know what font it defaults to, since every single font looks them same when set in .Xresources.

What am I doing wrong? If possible, I would really like to use Terminus, but it refuses to set properly.

Depends what you want to store.
I wouldn't put an OS on seagate but it should be fine for a copy of your movies and tv shows.
Don't put the sole copy of important personal files on it.

how likely that a 160GB WD HDD manufactured in 2007 i pulled out from an IBM server and has been in use for more than 45550 hours now (about half of it's lifetime) would assplode and die any time soon?

it's pretty loud with it's specific dentistry drill noise every time it starts cranking something.

Your brain is nuts, but both laser and inkjet printer manufacturershave "creative" methods to extract money from you on consumables, and may make really shitty printers that work poorly.

At least get something where you can purchase cheap ink / toner either as cartridge or refill, preferably without replacing chips.

Bought this beauty in 2008? and it has been in continuous use since on a computer that never gets turned off except when i was getting updates on windows or a crash or something. No, heat naturally rises and air movement doesnt cool machines the same way that it cools our bodies because they dont use evaporation. Hot air circulating inside your case literally does nothing. You need to exchange the hot air for cooler air by moving it out, which automatically moves cooler air in.

Laser, I am in the same boat.
I can get thousands (i think drums are rated at 10-20k pages each) for each refill and on ebay refills are like $20-30. Very low per page costs. Inkjets can buy refill kits but theyre messy and dont work well IMO, and the carts would die in 1-4 weeks printing at college scale.

Also you get profs that make ppt with black backgrounds and shit, not a worry with laser where with a jet you end up with a wet page worth about a dollar for the ink cost.

I wouldnt know, I buy oem chips without cooler. The last prebuilt i had was a dell in the xp era and even it had a windtunnel thing that pushed air over the cpu and out an exit via ducting.

But, depending on the chips now i dont know that it matters since they are so low power/heat. Even OC they hit high clock with air cooling.

My 1tb WD Blue failed shortly after I got it, since then I've used Seagate. So there's another conflicting and anecdotal opinion for you. There's no good answer, buying drives is pretty stressful.

So I have had a overclock of my GTX 980 OCV1 going for a little while now of

125% power limit
+200 core clock
+200 memory clock

I played Doom and Dark Souls 3 and saw no issues.

But recently I tried Final Fantasy XV and got weird black flashes during battles.

And now I have downloaded Tomb Raider 2013 and tried to play the game at the Ultimate setting and I had a complete system failure (automatic shutdown) at a certain in the game where Lara builds a fire. I noticed this section of the game was causing my memory clock to go up to 3702mhz and stay there for several seconds right before the failure point. I saw this happen two times.

I turned off my overclocks and this stopped happening.

So my theory is: either the memory clock is too high to be stable, or I am causing my VRMs to get so hot they cause a system crash. Which do you think is more likely?

why don't you monitor the temps?

The temperature of the GPU was fine the whole way through, staying around the level of 60 degrees.

oh and by the way that is only the core of the GPU, there is no temperature sensor on the VRMs, so I have no idea how hot they were getting.

Firstly, response time != input lag. Newer displays are generally getting better with response time, but for input lag, not so much. New model 1080p screens aren't great since all the attention is focused on muh 4K, if you want a nice panel and don't need the resolution your best bet is to get a used one.
