I was a fool and spilled some tea over my Early 2011 MBP. I immediately switched it off, removed the battery and SSD and left it sealed in rice for 3 days. The only damage done is a few keys to the left don’t work. Unfortunately one of these keys is the shift key, and it registers as being always pressed. This means I ALWAYS boot into safe mode! I bought a Bluetooth keyboard but the laptop still boots in safe mode. Is there anyway I can disconnect the built in keyboard without pulling the power ribbon?

what's that thing on his head

I think it might be a little algae

>Is there anyway I can disconnect the built in keyboard without pulling the power ribbon?
What do you think?

Maybe? There’s a built in feature to ignore the trackpad so I thought there might be one for the keyboard

Bumpu

The best thing you can do is take it all apart, and clean each individual component in demineralized water.

his brain

Dude. There is some way of changing what a key does in macOS. I forgot exactly how but at some point I made caps lock do nothing and I think it works for shift as well. Then you can make caps lock act as the shift key.

Be thankful, my laptop has its power key stuck. Might try the demineralized water idea

I don't know what this topic is about but Axolotls are super cute looking.

Throw it in the trash and buy a thinkpad

Will give that a try, really don’t wanna replace the logic board totally Ahh no! Can you remember where you found that?

They are! I really want one of my own some day

Buy a new MBP poorfag.

i did the same, but the single key it broke came back to life months later, when i toggled its function in keyboard settings, i which i had changed before a few times.

So they design ThinkPads to resisist water being spilt on them?
The soldier says, "Hey, you Navy guys don't wash your hands after pissing!"
The Sailor says, " We don't piss on our hands."

It'll still fuck up if you spill beer or soda on it, won't it?

>the Sup Forumsentooman says "buckle up when going for a drive"
>the mactoddler says "lol hu needs seatbelts?"

stupid analogy
same

>thinkpads
>let's take this very common thing into account and see if we can not prevent damage due to it

>macbooks
>let's take this very common thing into account and see if we can fuck the user over if it happens

in both cases the user spilling water is an idiot but only in one is the company also idiotic

MACTODDLERS BTFO

I love my mbp but this kind of thing scares the shit out of me.

>t. mactoddler

>i bought poorly made chinkshit and im afraid it'll break
topkek

OP here, I can’t help being poor fag

Did you spill water too?

MACTODDLERS BTFO

OH NO NO NO NO

Sorry mate, seems like remapping only works for caps, command, control and alt... that's kinda dumb but you know...

Install keyremap4macbook and disable shift. There you go.
