I guess what I'm thinking is inking the thermal paper by hand and using heat resistant tape to attach it to the keycap. Then I could use a homemade heat press to press the keycap against the heating element with a thin piece of silicone between them. Or am I just retarded and about to melt some perfectly good blank keycaps

I have been thinking of getting a new keyboard, A mechanical one at that because my 20 year old membrane one is dying(keys getting stuck, even after cleaning) and decided id get a mechanical one. My budget would be like $150 CAD but I dont mind going a little higher. I dont really care too much about noise either however I want switches that could last some heavy typing. Hell I dont mind if they take more force to "press" then the average keyboard. And of course the layout just standard QWERTY. Just something built well and is a full keyboard(numpads). Lastly id rather not have something with a bunch of TRGB's but some dim white lights on the letters looks nice.
>have to wait for the aliexpress sale on the RK61 REEE LETS FUCKING GO ALREADY I WANT TO TRY THE %60 MEME
Nathaniel Carter
red dragon for like $25 bucks
Chase Baker
>red dragon Hmm, I do't like the look of it, also doesnt have a numpad
Thomas Jones
Logitech G413 because undecided and a step above rubber dome and still cheap. From there you'll make the rational choice on what kind of switch you want.
Owen Martin
I mean you can get a set of blank PBT keycaps for like 10 bucks. Just make a simple design and test it out. I wish I can type korean, but there was a you tube video of some guy in korea making custom dye-sub PBT keycaps, but he had what looked like an expensive set up. The methods should be the same tho.
>G413 Was going to buy it but the g910 orion spectrum (the new g910 with better keys) is on sale at the same price on amazon UK. i need to be able to change the color of muh gayming leds
Dominic Thompson
i saw someone hand wiring a keyboard with some little bars and it was pretty gud hand wiring, it looked very steampunk. Could someone tell me what was the material used?
Blake Bennett
Copper cables
James Kelly
what are the least fuckup-prone stabilizers available, Sup Forums?
Jaxon Nelson
It might not belong in this thread but: Whats the best clicky membrane keyboard?
Landon Cook
Cherry. Not like there's much choice with stabilizers.
Ayden Parker
shit are they supposed to come out with the spacebar I'm trying to replace?
that's pretty much what mine looks like, so how tf do those center bits keep lifting out?
Landon Gomez
no, they where 100% straight and perfect, he vended them in cute 90 angles to
Ayden Garcia
You mean the cross pieces on either side of the switch? They shouldn't lift out.
Logan Ross
>some autist decides to make a new capacitative buckling spring keyboard >decides to release it using a retarded layout, lifted straight from a 80s IBM keyboard
why the fuck isn't unicomp making a tkl or even a 60-70% board with BS? that shit would sell hot cakes
Christopher Lee
because its probably a garage operation in a first world country where the development of a new mold would take at least 10k
Brandon Thomas
They're lazy, just buy an SSK they aren't expensive.
Carson Fisher
If I recall correctly they don't have the tooling for SSKs.
Nathaniel Adams
cause why should they? no one else is making cheap buckling spring keyboards. The only reason cherry actually came out with a new switch is because of competition from the chinks. tooling is expensive
David Jenkins
it doesn't need to be the exact same design this shit would literally print money, especially if they shill it right
Jose Taylor
>this shit would literally print money No, people would rather buy an IBM SSK.
Aaron Adams
where have you been? ever since hipsters took over the SSK is now even more expensive then a kishy model F
Blake Morales
yeah sure, no one gives a fuck but ibm autists a 70% with buckling springs would be the best sold keyboard in modern history
Isaac Green
I really like Cherry Clears, but wish they didn't have the characteristic Cherry grittiness. Has anything similar to clears come out in the last couple of years? Last time I checked Gatreon etc, didn't have anything.
Lucas Wright
> is now even more expensive then a kishy model F Not even close, they sell for $150-200
they're closer to 300-350 now a f107 with a controller preinstalled is 325
Jonathan Ward
you can easily make them. if an autist on Sup Forums can do it in one afternoon, then you can
Jacob Young
I like the DSA keycaps I use on my smaller board, so it makes sense to get SA keycaps for my full-size board, right? I figure getting DSA keycaps on the larger board would make it difficult to reach the extreme rows, so I should get SA.
>If you have to make it they aren't real what kind of logic is that? I don't know about you but these are real, and not photoshop
Hudson Gomez
which keycaps?
Juan Bailey
I find it funny that he has it listed as a 101w even though it isn't. Also that's the older badge model which is rarer, but some hipster probably fell for the memes. If you think that's bad look at beamspring keyboards. they used to sell for 300-400 and now they're closer to 1000, and redditors still buy them
Angel Lee
Hi I'm user, and I buy mechanical keyboards because the click and clacks soothe my 'tism.
Xavier Gonzalez
>Also that's the older badge model which is rarer They sell for $100 or less anywhere else, ebay prices are retarded. >they used to sell for 300-400 and now they're closer to 1000 Kek that's why I sold mine
Sebastian Watson
What a retard it probably has ABS keycaps too
Jack Baker
the older ones were doubleshot ABS
Gabriel Parker
its literally cheaper to buy a cheap chink keyboard like a red dragon over a cheapo membrane at this point
Brayden Foster
>a 70% with buckling springs would be the best sold keyboard in modern history Doesn't either Plum or Noppoo literally make a 75-key keyboard with springs?
Lucas Allen
those are capacitive springs, not buckling springs
>on an image board >describes what they saw from a video with words Post a picture you nerd
Most modify their clears with lube and/or a slightly weaker spring. There are premium switches with all that shit done already but they're expensive and don't have good availability: MODs, scamios, probably a bunch of new ones too but I wouldn't know specifically.
Ian Jones
>mechanical board >barely mechanical switches bunch of losers forgot how a true mechanical switch looks like youtube.com/watch?v=VvTSLRab7Kg
