When you really love an obscure bandcamp release but don't want to post it here because Sup Forums will think the band...

No band has ever gotten known without some kind of "viraling"
I think they would prefer the popularity over some kind of lessened reputation anyway
just drop it in a sharethread obviously
Post it OP
the real reason i don't post it is because i don't want her to be ruined by Sup Forums
Listening to this right now. Good shit.
My favorite band camp band is one I used to see on here sometimes but they haven't been very active the last few years so I haven't seen em in awhile palettetown.bandcamp.com
viral marketers pls go
i mean this board is stagnating (and has been for years) with the same shit discussed every day. so that would be a breathe of fresh air. gonna give it a listen.
...
Big Sean
I actually want this to go viral, is a dominican post-rock band called vohke, check it out. vohke.bandcamp.com
Youre one of the most autistic viralers to ever come to this board. Please fuck off forever, faggot.
But isn't that album made by Shia Labeouf
I wish I would of screencapped the time you went full retard trying to prove that it wasnt you viraling and you started crying.
...
>because Sup Forums will think the band is viraling
objectively very true lamo
What the fuck would even compel you to share obscure finds with the often underage, often retarded fucking idiots that linger this board.
These people don't deserve to be spoonfed. That's why I intentionally avoid all chart, RYM, and last.fm threads, because I never want anyone here to know what I listen to, lest some retard decides on a whim snatches one of my finds, enjoys it, and starts adopting my tastes. Fuck that.
If these people care about music half as much as they care about their goddamn memes, they'll find good shit on their own.
*decides on a whim to snatch
yeah fuck introducintg interesting artists to new people. much better to make smug posts in every thread. really helps the board.
this
you dumb fuck. you don't even care about music, you care about "taste"
You read my post; that much is clear. For whatever reason, though, you're spouting and presenting arguments that I addressed in anticipation.
>introducing interesting artists to new people
New people that are often retarded and/or underrage. New people that litter this board with memes from which there is no goddamn escape. New people that would discover said musicians if they investigated music with half the intensity with which they propagate their fucking memes and satiate their shitposting.
You're a fucking idiot.
Ok
I agree with you on a lot of things but not this one. If I find an obscure artist I like I believe I'm obligated to share their work as much as possible so that one day, as unlikely as it may be, they may be able to support themselves through their art. Plus, I believe good art must be shared, not everyone will like it, but it feels good to me to expose people to new things that could become joyous part of their life.
not him but wow what shitty arguments
>often retarded and/or underage
vocal minority, there are a ton of people who genuinely appreciate recs or shares
>new people that would discover said musicians if they investigated music with half the intensity with which they [..]
again, it's a vocal minority. i don't think a lot of us would be here if we all didn't genuinely love discussing, finding, and sharing music.
also, why would anyone necessarily find some obscure bandcamp release just because they are looking for good music? i'm sure there are sooo many great bandcamp releases that i just haven't stumbled across before
I was really hoping that you were going to disagree with me.
My intent with these posts has been to provoke disagreement. I would like to be proven wrong, to be convinced of your opinion and sincerely want to share music with the people on this board.
This is better. If the exercise is borne through some sort of sacrificial selflessness seeking to serve the greater good, I could conceivably share.
>arguments
>anticipation
>presenting
meme words
maybe not posting like a complete misanthropic ass might spur more discussion.
>vocal minority
Then the majority ought to start being vocal. Even I make a conscious effort to respond courteously when I receive a recommendation. It's not that fucking hard, just two words and a captcha form.
>i don't think a lot of us would be here if we all didn't genuinely love discussing, finding, and sharing music
You should visit Sup Forums. More and more, memes alone are compelling people to visit boards they'd otherwise have no fucking place participating in.
>why would anyone necessarily find some obscure bandcamp release just because they are looking
I presume you mean *good bandcamp release?
That's simply a consequence of constant effort. With relentless search, you're bound to find something good, and once that becomes routine, you develop sense of instinct and intuition that help you find good music even quicker.
>conscious
>consequence
meme words
That's fair. I'm sorry.
I've grown out of posting new stuff on Sup Forums. People here don't seem nearly as interested to find new music as they used to be.
Then again, maybe I am just old and cynical.
if you had I would post the screenshots of the same thing that show multiple posters trying to talk about the album while being erroneously censored. I talk to RUI all the time on slsk and he thinks this shit is hilarious. I showed him that thread and he said he was gonna start viral posting all the time.
I haven't heard that in so long
Rose tinted memories bud. No matter what year it is, Sup Forums was always better "a few years ago," you just remember all the good times and none of the boring times. Post some new shit in this thread if you want peeps to listen.
Youre such a worthless piece of shit, rui
nah RUI is an agent of peace on the internet brauvh
drive.google.com
No this isn't rose spectacles, Sup Forums really was more inclined to search for new music on its own, this is the generational shift that has happened between the 2000s and 2010s.
People now have simply become so over saturated with choices, that they can no longer choose for themselves and expect to be spoonfeed. It's why poptimism is a thing. There's no community or any sense to be well versed in anything.
I do agree that people should be more thankful in response to recs. I've been on this board since I was underage, which I should mention was years ago, and my primary use for the board has always been getting recs and giving recs. I've found countless favorite bands thanks to kind peeps sharing some tunes. There are a lot of asswipes on here but as you yourself know as a user, we're not all bad
>These people don't deserve to be spoonfed.
>spoonfed
>the rest of this post
just leave
Sup Forums sharethreads are 90% posting obscure stuff that is a worse version of more popular artists because it is more obscure and it's always been like that
>help you find good music even quicker.
sharing helps you find good music even quicker. why do you dislike sharing, again? because someone might listen to it?
People who are elitist about what music they listen to are the biggest part of the problem.
Anyone care to check this out? Think it could actually click with a lot of Sup Forums people, shoegazy psychedelic rock
Secret Mommy - Plays
secretmommy.bandcamp.com
violently comfy glitch/folk/idm combo.
I've never heard anything else like this and I want more, help me Sup Forums
unty you are so autistic man, take a walk or something
this isn't related to your argument at all but you type like a 15 year-old autistic kid who got 140 on an IQ test he found on facebook and keeps sending letters to mensa and crying because they won't reply
also I'm not sure how many of you would consider this obscure but wishing.bandcamp.com
>tags: experimental, nice, Portland
Hope the music isn't as insufferable as they as people indubitably are.
thanks, these are pretty close.
Liking that first link so far.
>tfw soulseek doesn't have kraak
Gonna have to buy this shit, damn.
It's by Tuk, not Kraak. Kraak is just the label.
>it's an unty thread
Still don't have it in a decent bitrate, I'll just grab it when I get paid. I like it though.
secretghostrecordings.bandcamp.com
I love this shit. It's the only example of folksy garage rock mixed with shoegaze that I know of.
I've had this album for a while, it's really good shit. Love Wild Ivy.
>see cover in some thread like a year ago
>catches my eye because vibrant colors and i love deer
>bookmark bandcamp link
>put off listening to it forever because it's probably just some mediocre bedroom demo shit
>finally get around to listening to it one day
>it's fucking amazing
I felt really stupid for that.
>tfw downloaded an album by a guy who posted in BC threads (I assume, maybe it was just a fan)
>tfw he deleted his profile and you can't find his shit anywhere now
Terrible feel. Tony McCowen, bring your goddamn page back and make more tunes you asshole.
The percussion in the first track reminds me of Ochre and Mum, kind of. You could try them?
dave-roland.bandcamp.com
I really do like this guy's strangely composed and played music. I also like that he's from the same part of Canada as me too.
This is something I made.
It's a mixture of composition, classical music, electronic and IDM, mainstream pop, and shoegaze.
The Chemical Brothers meets Weezer meets Maurice Ravel
banzaei.bandcamp.com
I really hope you lovely, beautiful, great people enjoy this piece of music-art
I think it will SURPRISE YOU!
Don't let yourself down - listen through the first track, then the next...
If you need a sneak peak, listen to "I Thought So"
I'm really happy to share this and I think people should hear it for themselves!!!!
really nice stuff, I have it on cassette
I really like your mentality and I'm trying to get better at doing this by making mix CDs for my friends (they seem to enjoy them, it's not me just pushing it on them) but I tend to not share obscure artists I find, mostly out of insecurity and fear of being judged. Were you always really open and are you open in other areas of life, or did you have to work on it?
why tf would i tell you
Or post places you recommend finding good shit outside of Sup Forums. Try something constructive, friend. :)
my friend posted this today
it's written from the perspective of a desert hermit who's lost his mind and finds a microphone basically that's why the vocals are just shouts and shrieks
I've always been open about my taste in pretty much everything. Most people I know respect that. People are gonna judge you sometimes but take it in stride, it's not as big a deal as you think.
It took me about 3 sentences in to realize only Unty would be capable of making such a fucking trainwreck of a post, and low and behold!
anyway
jigsawrecords.bandcamp.com
Yeah, I'm realizing that as I get older. It's just a bunch of self esteem/anxiety bullshit. Thank you, man! I appreciate the response.
HOLY SHIT THIS IS FUCKIGN NICE
I've already listened to them, they don't scratch the same itch
Many people viral their music here, that's why. Even I did it at some point, got more than 8k plays from Sup Forums alone.
was out but i'm finally responding
>the majority ought to start being vocal
argue with that, i agree. i'm just saying you shouldn't assume everyone on Sup Forums are unappreciative meme-posting fucks who don't care about music
>You should visit Sup Forums
I mean yeah memeing is going to happen here, Sup Forums is a special case imo. on Sup Forums i try to just ignore threads i know are going to be shit. there are still a lot of quality threads and discussions on here desu
>you develop a sense of instinct and intuition that help you find good music even quicker
sure, but that doesn't mean two people with good senses of musical intuition will stumble upon the same music, especially when the music is obscure
when you have good taste, obviously you'll find other people that like the shit that you like, but sometimes you just stumble upon some bandcamp release with no supporters and it honestly is up to you to share it, because it's pretty goddamn hard to find.
i personally appreciate all of the recs in this thread, and may not have been able to find the stuff myself. i'm just a giant proponent of sharing music. if me and my friends find shit we like we just share it with each other, cause we trust each other's tastes
>>Sup Forums
I love you unty, never change
Wow you're diluded
youtube.com
check this
fuck all of you
Why?
>Buy Now $1,000 USD or more
>tripfag
>this retarded
fuck off unty, no one likes you.
You're scared of people liking what you like? Why, because then you won't feel special anymore? Get out, you pretentious faggot. Music is made to be shared.
Swear to god I'm not a shill, but I found this in a bandcamp thread here recently and loved it. Really good Sufjan-ish atmospheric emotional folk stuff
Because they don't want people buying the album, you idiot. They're exercising their right to be anti-commercial.
This thread is some next level viral marketing, damn
...
