Such a good album. It's hard to think of any musical act with as many back to back classics as them.

>when Da Art of Storytelling Pt. 2 comes on

You can't make fun of them

is that one of the death grips

because everyone knows they are one of the best groups ever and theres no real reason to argue facts

Because most of Sup Forums doesn't listen to hip hop. Besides Kanye and Death Grips and occasionally Aesop.

Also true

Best Outkast track

youtube.com/watch?v=Jf64uuaj1yM

What are some groups you think are most similar to OutKast? something UGK too

Player's Ball is my shit

i try to listen to them but i just do not like there music at all. i live in north carolina so everyone hypes andre 3000 as the greatest but i just dont see it

Rapwise gotta put it into context of late 90s early 2000s because some are less impressive but the production of Aquemini and ATLiens is timeless

Favorite song off of Aquemini?

It used to be Da Art of Storytellin', pt. 1, then Liberation, but now I think it's West Savannah.

Cunninlynguists maybe? They're eclectic yet undeniably southern

youtube.com/watch?v=Puk1ze_AHPk

Das Racist
Not trolling

Any thoughts on this one?

That song with George Clinton is great but the whole album kinda sounds like P-Funk to me. There are a couple features on here I could have done without... Follow Us is a bit hard to sit through... but the last 3 tracks are perfect

Big Boi doesn't get nearly enough credit.
youtube.com/watch?v=4h_CN2WZQqQ

ah something for me to help kill the rest of my night, thnx anons

SpottieOttieDopaliscious easily

I almost every song on that album, have no idea why this album didn't win a Grammy, almost flawless
I hate the album cover
>SpottieOttieDopaliscious
Those orgasmic horns

As for UGK influence, I'd most definitely say Big K.R.I.T.
He can go between a deep, soulful, reflective cut
youtube.com/watch?v=sqYgfX6dfxc

to a trunk-knocking banger
youtube.com/watch?v=424ZkA3C3fg

and back. truly one of the best that modern rap has to offer.

seconding big k.r.i.t.

speaking of ugk and players, love that intl players anthem

Nobody realizes it's the TOP 3 southern duos collabing.
Outkast
Featuring UGK
Produced by DJ Paul & Juicy J

That alone makes me nut

Killer Mike's last album felt like a continuation of Outkast's legacy.

Stankonia>ATLiens>Aquemini>SB/TLB>SPCM

All five are great

youtube.com/watch?v=36DCuT1KxM4

I recall reading something on Andre doing his part in one take, or ad-libbing a lot of this

nor did i. nice. at some point ill need to explore s. hiphop

Da Art of Storytellin Part 1 if I'm looking to listen to great lyrics. SpottiOttieDopalicious if I'm wanting to just listen to the beat.

imo they are the best duo in hip hop.

If I had to rank their albums:

1. Aquemini
2.ATLiens
3.Speakerboxxx/Love Below
4.Stankonia
5.Southernplayalistc
6.Idlewild

Also Speakerboxxx > Love Below

pretty much, if it's not some hipster shit or some mainstream shit then it won't be discussed here

man southernplayalistic is underrated as fuck, easily almost as good as ATLiens and Aquemini for me

Skew it on the Bar-B is the best Outkast song.

That song blows my mind even have 100+ listens.

It just didn't have the same levels of production.

Still good, but it's aged the quickest of their albums while ATLiens, Stankonia, and Aquemini are timeless.

It's still a great album. For me 1,2, and 6 are pretty clear, but 3-5 are hard to put in order. Their first 5 albums could all be considered classics

ATLiens isn't even close to timeless. It sounds nothing like modern southern music at all, whereas Stankonia and Aquemini had a few modern, more industrial elements.

Stankonia above Aquemini ??

1. Aquemini
2. Stankonia
3. Southernplayalistic
4. ATLiens
5. The Love Below
6. Speakerboxxx
7. Idlewild

For the most part I always thought Stankonia as the weak sellout album, very frontloaded and bombastic, but it grew on me as time went on, compared to any of its contemporaries it's aged like fine wine. I guess it helps that the album contains the song that got me into hip hop (B.O.B.)

I love the first half of ATLiens, but personally it just becomes a trainwreck after that with the exception of 13th Floor, one of their best tracks.

is outkast the only redeemable aspect of the south?

That's kinda bullshit. Been here for half a decade and I've seen a plethora of hip-hop heads come through here

fuck off

I apologize, user. It's just I'm stuck in TN and it isn't my natural environment.

>vol tards errywhere

I just get a little edgy

>why is popular music not discussed on Sup Forums? ;_;
see

>Southernplayalistcadillacmuzik the worst
>Stankonia the best
FUCK that triggered me, delete this immediately
ATLiens>Aquemini=Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik>Stankonia>The Love Below>Speakerboxxx>Idlewild

Scarface
UGK
SUC
8B&MJG
K-Rino
Z-Ro
Paul Wall
Big Krit
Denzel Curry
3 6 Mafia

Anyone else just really love Slump?

don't forget moe and dj screw

easily west savannah. Big boi so underrated

8 Ball & MJG

Ayy
youtube.com/watch?v=53ofQagPlLw

yes!

WHAT THE FUNK IS GOING OH-I ON

Synthesizer is great, I'm partial to Chonkyfire though, the keyboards and guitar are en fuego

What does Sup Forums think of speakerboxxx/love below?

I loved speakerboxxx almost as much as aquemini, but love below was kinda boring after the first 10 or so tracks imo

>at some fucking warehouse dj set the other night
>pretty bummed, not really feeling it
>outside for a ciggy
>they throw on fucking ATLiens
i've never run back into a venue faster
that song is such a classic

>east point, smoke some dank

Speakerboxxx felt most like an Outkast album but I I were to count it as one then I'd rank it as one of their worst
The Love Below had Roses and that was it for me, it had a few other alright songs like She Lives In My Lap and Dracula's Wedding but it was pretty much a Andre solo album and I wasn't feeling it.

>*stock flame sound effect*

Why isn't cypress hill discussed either?

Aquemeni is unmatched. My fave rap album ever
I'm like this except switch Speakerboxx and Southernplayalistic

when the horns in Spottie come on

Kek, this. If you're not talking about Death Grips, Kanye, or Chance then no one cares. Outkast are fucking legendary and amazing.

OutKast are undeniably amazing and one of the great groups in music.

I always find them under-discussed amongst hip hop heads in general, considering how popular they are and how influential and unique their sound was back in the day. DJ Muggs is a GOAT producer and B-Real has one of the most distinctive voices in all of hip hop.

Elevators

Best band of the last 20 years, it's either them or Radiohead.

I really like Slump.

Killer Mike fucking sucks and isn't at all similar to outkast

I would agree that they aren't very sonically similar, but Killer Mike has been putting out quality southern hip-hop for over a decade.

That song is undeniably perfect

>Listens to "Reagan"
>Gets triggered
>Assumes all Killer Mike songs sound like this

Listen to his first album, Monster, that is pretty similar to Outkast.

I liked the sound out of memphis and houston in the 90s but most shit out of the south now is mostly garbage imo.
To add to the list of rappers I think are good from the south I would name Lil Boosie and Curren$y as well but not everyone is into them.

pic related is the best album out of the south recently imo, can't wait for his new album to drop supposedly this year. One of the only recent artists out of the south i give a fuck about. Already really like this track youtube.com/watch?v=b_NFVCgVBvM

GOODIE MOB
how tf has nobody mentioned FUCKING GOODIE MOB

LISTEN TO SOUL FOOD, first half is fantastic (at times better than ATLiens, though less consistent)

Geto Boys is the most influential southern hiphop group. They paved the way for other southern artists. Also they created the genre of horrorcore. Scarface of the group is one of the best MCs in the genre, a southern legend, the original paranoid gangsta, a motif 2pac and biggie were heavily influenced by. Also the first rapper to rap about gangsta shit in the first person.

100% correct

I thought I was losing my mind for a sec myself.

Fuck Andre and Big Boi are on it a ton, same with a lot of the Goodie crew being on SPCM.

Besides, you get some of the best Cee Lo you can get from Soul Food.

nelly is better

just one of the greatest songs out. saw big boi and 3k do it live and genuinely teared up

lol

swap ATLiens and Aquemini and that's my list

"Reagan" is topically spot-on desu, but I'm not totally into it as a song just because it's preachy

Because they're good. People don't talk about good music on Sup Forums. Why would they?

UGK ft. Outkast (prod by Three 6 Mafia)
Damn I never realized this

posting best triple 6 track

youtube.com/watch?v=Vt6zLDXnnok

do not dispute

The roots
Witchdoctor
Geto boys
Goodie mob
Three 6 mafia

wew

basically this

i love this dude

well this just isn't true

I've only heard R.A.P. Music and I thought it was genuinely awful and the worst El-P produced project I've ever heard. Reagan was fine, Mike just isn't interesting enough to warrant that kind of track IMO

Return of the G
