Any more of those Techno videos from 1990-2000? I know these exist, but might not be on youtube and/or easily searchable due to language barrier and so on.
The reason I am looking for this is the following. This was so much more real. Look at those EDM-Festivals like Tomorrowland or (I dont know if worse or not) Sensation white. People cares less these days.
The fact that a camera was there was strange. The fact that nobody opposed being filmed even more. Considering there were cameras but NO youtube or such, this makes more sense.
In a recent documentary on german radio station Deutschlandfunk (for the german people here) renowned DJ Westbam told about his 30 or so years of experience in this scene.
The Events of 9/11 were sort of a strange cesura. The unlimted freedom, wealth and peace of mind had come to a full stop - at least in germany.
I can just feel what happens today, and those videos give my a glance of what seems to have been crazy, free, open..
If you have any more Videos - share them!
I know the searchable ones on youtube like the one i posted.
Also: Happy for a discussion with you technopeople!
I don't know if you get what I mean. I know those boiler room sets (not all, but basically I do). They sure aren't bad and some people lose shit, no question.
But I feel like in the 90s it was harder. Munted people for the fucking sake of not giving any fuck.
These sets today are softer. They are do-nothing-wrong-sets. I feel like it's music for those lawyer's and doctor's sons who want to go "bonkers" one night and be full puppy again when it's monday 8 am.
What comes to my mind:
It's also the difference in camera perception.
90s - fuck you if you record, i don't give a fuck 2010s - take me into the spotlight and get me some followers
Love Parade 95. Rave was really a different thing than now. Everyone was invited to have a good time and they had. Now you can ahve a good time too, but only if you have $ for the tickets.

I dunno man it feels fake and forced compared to the freedom and peace of mind of the 90s

That's it. on spot. saved for tomorrow (ger). Scrolled through it. Is the footage the "actual one"? I've seen exactly this video with "Ansome -Tin" Seemed to fit.
This is an interesting aspect. I think you can charge the people sum. But I strongly agree that once the hosts notice they can make money off a party, they take whatever they can the next time.
Kevin Edwards
Thank you. fake and forced is exactly what it describes.

I know what you mean OP. there just seems to be so much anxiety in todays festivals. people that are oversensitive about everything
I know its cringey to say I was born in the wrong generation but I would sell my body to be able to go back to the 90s and experience those concerts

Iam organizing free/illegal parties in Berlin for quite a time now and I always felt, that money is an important factor to mental segregation. This is opposed to the feeling of unity during the 90s raves. So until we get this "real" Events back, there has to be a mental change. Party-People have to be less selfish again and organizers have to be less money-driven. But its pretty much the other way around rn.
Nathaniel Jenkins
"illegal parties". I've heard that so much. I never went to such an "illegal party", but in my Hometown (400 km from berlin) there was a quite good club. Which was better in every case.
It queues in there. My impression of those "illegal" parties is: bunch of kids who feel special for attending some clandestine event. Some people here did raves in the forest. Cool idea, not branded as illegal.

Its called illegal, because it is illegal. Thats actually the problem. Theres no one trying to be pretentious, or feeling special. Its just illega, because the cops smash it pretty much everytime.
