why do even care about the opinions of an out of touch pedophile
i really respect the dude gotta admit, right up there with lester bangs
Scaruffi has objective taste so nothing is "overrated" or "underrated" by him. His word is fact, objectively.
Alright but Vampire Rodents though? Springsteen?
Pet Sounds got a 7/10. How the fuck is that underrated? 7/10 for Scaruffi is like 9/10 in most people's scales
because i can relate to him, as in why are there age limits?
what is an album he has given a 10/10 to? is there anything?
>implying this man isn't a meme
Pretty much all of these are 7/10
But these ratings are right.
Trout Mask Replica was 10/10 but he moved it down to 9.5/10. Go check out his 9/10s. Some edgy choices but also some great ones. Honestly there's some incredible music on that list of his.
Vampire Rodents is top 5 of albums from his list.
does anyone have a source for him being a pedophile? i see this around a lot but never a source.
The only one that I am absolutely baffled by is "Good" by Morphine. All of the other ones I could see being construed as amazing because of historical context and innovation even if I don't personally like them.
Goat by the Jesus Lizard got an 8/10
Goat is one of my favorite albums, but his ratings don't make sense. It's like he scales them differently here and there
According to him Ultraviolence by Lana Del Rey is as good as Pet Sounds. Does that sound right to you?
It's a meme. He entertained child marriage as a hypothetical for the purpose of making a point. Accusations of him being a pedophile are slander.
literally who
im pretty sure he's rating ultraviolence on a relative scale to other recent pop albums, and if you asked him to compare them then he would laugh in your face
6.5 is the right score for ziggy stardust
bowie was amazing at everything except music
Why Abbey Road? I've never known what makes it the standout album.
he really wasn't that good at acting
Exactly my point, he doesn't rate things relative to eachother, so everything is skewed. I's the reason some things seem underrated, and some overrated.
I guess it's his scale and he can do what ever he wants, but this is the reason why people get confused
from Rubber Soul on basically all Beatles albums are standouts, many have different opinions on which they like best
meant for
It's fun to see how his ratings change.
Some of the most fun things happen in his top rated list, the one with pictures and liner notes.
Fun facts:
-VU/N Used to be #2 on his greatest of all time list.
-Instead of Fare Forward Voyagers, "America" by John Fahey was at the #9 spot.
-Flying Teapot by Gong was at #22, which would mean that it used to be a 9 for sure.
If you go back to 1999 using the internet archive:
-Nearly all of the ones he currently has have a different position
-Ummagumma is #9
-Neu 2 (!) and not Neu is at #17
-Thaw, and not Nail, is at #18
-Are You Experienced is #19
-Daydream Nation is #20
-Aoxomoxoa is #21
-#22 is actually Faust IV. Faust's debut didn't make the cut.
A bunch of other strange shit too.
I understand liking things past Revolver, but Rubber Soul and Revolver are two of the most average and non-noteworthy albums I've ever heard, especially Rubber Soul.
Shit taste or listen to them again
Can't blame him for changing his opinions after 17 years.
Rubber Soul is a great album! You Won't See Me, Nowhere Man, and In My Life are pop masterpieces.
