alright this was 60 years ago

Because they're perfectionists.
I honestly wish I understood Chinese films. They're riddled with Chinese religious memes and random epic bullshit as if the dumbest anime for the stupidest audience was magnified ten fold.
I bet the Chinese are aliens and the Koreans are aliens who try so hard at acting human, they almost succeed.
The Japanese were too isolated to really get too much influence from normal earth traditions.

The Japanese are seriously weird. Like, during their golden age of cinema they made some really phenomenal movies but all of the acting was really off putting. Kurosawa especially could not direct his actors to behave even remotely human.

I want to live in your world

Not for too long though

I'm sorry what?

Are you sure it's not a bunch of bowlcut plastic gook shit like all their pop culture is?

The Chinese and Japanese are the only ones who make good cinema. Everything else is trash.

Korea can't even compete

gooks will never make anything to top this

???

>t. Shĕnxí Ikuroshi

i don't get it
SK obviously have a knack making edgy grimdark movies, but somehow they're falls into oblivion compared to their extremely shitty romcom.

Prove me wrong.
And NO, Snowpiercer and Train to Busan don't count. Both of those are trash. I can accept if you say Oldboy, but that is one (1) film. Go ahead.

I remember when I tried to watch Battle Royale, cringed so much at that "acting"

From this year.

>Why are hong kongers the only ones in Asia who can act and make decent films?
fixed for u lad

song kang hoes can really act

most countries make decent films, I find french films to be really great and most asian films are fine too. Just because they don't have the Hollywood action or superficial feel, doesn't mean they're not decent. Generally for philosophical and emotional fidelity and exploration, you avoid western films strongly.

Japanese act the way they behave in real life. In the west we're used to actors being animated because it's a reflection of how we behave in everyday life, but traditionally that's not always the case in Japan, so their screen acting reflects their eastern social codes.
I mean, I don't know for sure, it's just a guess.

It's pretty amazing how wrong and completely backwards you have it.

French films have too much of an attachment to either nature or Paris for me to take seriously and their comedies are really awful.
Not that I don't like French films.

Watch any Japanese movie or television show. They are very "animated" but like a bad pro-wrestler or porn acting.

completely backwards?

>Most countries don't make decent films. I find french films to be really awful and most asian films are garbage. Exactly because they don't have the Hollywood action or superficial feel means they're not decent. Generally for philosophical and emotional fidelity and exploration, you go with western films at all cost.

Is that an accurate correction?

Just the last part.

>Disguised thread about asian cinema
>No asians

gotcha senpai

Awful taste my man.

thoughts on thai movies?

It's noon in Asia. They're probably out eating lunch or whatever.

Don't judge western filmaking based on dubbed hollywood garbage, those are made for chinese audiences now anyway.

I was more hung up on philosophical, emotional and explorative cinema being limited to the west, which is clearly not the case.

yeah it was a little unfair, polish cinema should be included as well

Japan > Taiwan / Hong Kong >>>>>> Korea > PRC.

Not a fan of Czechoslovak new wave?

Koreans can't even make a phone or elect a president who's not a shaman puppet, how the fuck can they make a good film? lmao

Are YOU?

It is stupid that you compare Japanese lowest movie to Korean highest movie.

Don't bring up me; we're talking about you!

Literally any film not from Hollywood bores me. I'm a huge scifi fan but most countries don't seem to have enough budget to make cg spess battle scenes.

>korean cinema is good
>this is what koreans actually believe

Well I admit they do have some above average stuff.

>scifi space
Is it because you're the descendant of an alien morpho race that came to earth because of high levels of CO2 on your home planet?

>Wong Kar-Wai

Mah nigga

literally asian polish

I'm serious, korean acting is the only one I can believe and relate to it's just so realistic and palpable, differently from childish jap acting and to be honest I haven't watched any chink movie

It might be a meme but old hong kong kung-fu movies are top tier.

Ong bak is god tier, forgot about this

I was just referring to Japanese acting. (Yasujiro?) Ozu is probably one of my favorite filmmakers of all time.

You should watch this.

You know those really shitty Hollywood summer comedies that the Jews make obviously just to make money?
That's what Chinese acting looks like.

I agree with your opinion.
But the Japanese acting of Shin-Godizlla is good.
It excludes childish acting.

It may be feeble trying to convince faggots here that gook movies are terrible (since this is a weeb board after all) but we must try.
Down with the gook entertainment!

Who else cried like a bitch after watching this?

>Shin-Godizlla
Shin-Godzilla

even korean movies triggers you fucks? seriously?

Chinese cinema is just another communist party mouth piece and Japanese cinema is a fucking joke

Korean movies are alright. Not the best in the region and slightly overrated though.

>Not the best in the region
what is

Yeah but I thought the side characters had more interesting performances than the lead guy and faux-misato. The lead guy felt especially weak, the old beauracrats were much more engaging.

Imo, Chinese movies, if we include all Chinese speaking areas.

I think Yutaka Takenouchi's face acting is better too.
Especially the situation he heard the message of nuclear attack is detailed emotion.

Ah yes, coming from the gypsies- such great and respected people with popular and well-crafted cinema! Of course, you have opened my mind! How could I be so wrong?!

>oldboy
your opinion is now irrelevant

Kekked hard

hong kong =! mainland china
>t. ping ling

In 30 years it will be.

>t. Peter Chow

My Way is better imo but this one is pretty good in my books too.

as far as I know.

everybody loves Japanese film more than Korean.

daily reminder. post war japanese cinema is top tier.

youtube.com/watch?v=PvR68ugbWA4

dis movie tho

hell no

Japanese movie's golden age-1950~1980
Korean movie's golden age-1990~2010
And now, all shit.

lies. Korea continues make great films to this day.

Any Korean sci-fi movies ? I love sci-fi.

Yeah. still better than japanese manga-original movies.

11.AM. I havent seen it tho
>In the not-so distant future, researchers at a deep-sea laboratory have finally invented a time machine. Head researcher Woo-seok is promised funding from a mega-corporation if he completes a test flight. He and Young-eun carry out the mission and travel to 11 A.M. the next day, only to find the base on the verge of collapse. All the researchers are gone and someone is out to kill them.

Hi Kim. I see you're enjoying life in Japan. Good.

Anyone seen Train To Busan? Anyway as much as I love kmovies I cannot understand the historical ones for shit. Recently I watched The Throne. It was stupid af

Yeah, I saw it, it was meeeeh, just another zombie movie.

I seen it also, but I kinda liked it and in general I hate zombie shit.

Kiddings me? Japanese make far better movies on a regular basis, though even then its usually the same bunch of directors.
Koreans also produce the most mindnumbing and boring movies out there aside from few gems here and there.

...

i dont know anything about korean films but before that you are normie as fuck. Sup Forums is literally full of idiotic prebs and you show all you know is literally some-boo internet nerdy shallow trash.

Are you perhaps a weeb?

...

>idiotic prebs

I liked that shit was getting down on a train, but hated the backstory and all characters, too cliché

Koreans make good crime movies, but their love stories, human drama, historical films are shit
Japanese are good all around, except for crime movies other than Kitano's

well it had some stupid scenes for sure, but my expectations were so low that I was kinda impressed by the plot. I also liked the fact the director basically finished everyone off, even the likable characters.

no matter you are a pleb or normie or newfag or edgelord or whatever most of you literally superficial and shallow, judge everything based on some cheesy trend of internet bandwagon, meme, hivemind. all you know is trashy anime and kshit crap. as shitty as leddit seriously, if not more so.

I found Korean movies to be excellent in all those genres except lI can't say much for romance movies. Although Oasis was fucking great although its not your typical romance movie

But not the kid and a pregnant woman, so it was still predictable AF
Also, I started watching it with really high expectations because it was recommended to me as the best recent zombie movie by multiple people, that's part of the problem, I guess

What are you even sperging about?

>romance movies
As I wrote above historical movies are no-go for me, but I get it that romance kmovies may be not so understandable for a westerner. You should watch Archtecture 101 and A Man and a Woman tho. They are quite good desu

but the main character was the father.I really thought that he was going to make it. Just like the fat guy. Anyway too high expectations may kill any movie for sure.

Watch Korean art house dramas. Specifically Kim ki-duk and Lee chang-dong.
