I admit, we don't have cartel wars everyday, we don't behead people, and when gypsies are running around armed with machetes, police actually can deal with them (our justice is Mexico-tier, though).

good banter desu senpai

are there any other Czech authors like Bohumil Hrabal? i really love his work. (i've read a little bit of Milan Kundera, but I didn't enjoy him anywhere near as much).

u are one sad cunt if you enjoy Hrabal.

is he not held in a very high regard? who would you recommend over him?

Very good beer. Good ice hockey. Somewhat decent football. I like them.

>cheap and quality beer, not the best though
>Nice looking women, but cheat their boyfriend's a lot and one particular obsession with sending their asses and tits through snapchat to practically everyone, they dont give a fuck
>Based Miloš Zeman
>Prague

not really

Prague is gorgeous.
Everything valuable was made by the Germans tho.

Same with the rest of "Central Europe"

well his writing is bit too depressing.. not that I dont like that, but its downright suicidal

or at least I believe the original (Czech) works to be

Kundera is pretty damn good if you can speak French or Czech (since both versions are written by the author himself).

Karel Čapek has real distinctive style and ideology behind his books.. And it kinda gets your history loving dick hard if you understand
the pretexts of his works.

You might like Vančura - Rozmarne Leto (look up how its called in english yourself), its very.. lazy reading book, you will get very nostalgic
feeling reading it

There is like 150 concepts. BTW upon desolution of Czechoslovakia it was agreed that nobody will keep the flag and treacherous pepiks kept it anyways. The blue triangle represents Slovakia so they are eternally cucked for their sin

kek

What did you read from him anyway? I might recommend based on that.

ah, you meant sad in the literal sense. yeah, i can see that. his writing is very melancholy in English, too; but that's the kind of literature i prefer.

i'll see if i can find some books from those other authors that you've listed; and maybe try some of Kundera's other books (i've only read The Unbearable Lightness of Being). cheers.

Too Loud a Solitude (Příliš hlučná samota)
Closely Watched Trains (Ostře sledované vlaky)
Harlequin's Millions (Harlekýnovy milióny)
Dancing Lessons for the Advanced in Age (Taneční hodiny pro starší a pokročilé)

those are ordered from most to least liked. the last one i didn't care too much for.

Too loud solitude and Kunderas - Unbearable Lightness of Being felt kind of similar to me tho. Dont know why would you avoid Kundera then.

If you are interested in WWI books but from Czech perspective instead of the well documented (Remarque, Junger) German side
you might read Dobry Vojak Svejk by Hasek, its very light hearted approach towards mass genocide of the Great war.
If you want a book that will tell you the most about Czechs their culture and all read that one.

The most Czech works would be these:
Hašek - Švejk
Němcová - Babička (i didnt like this one at all ://)
Čapek - War with the Newts/ R.U.R/ Mother and so on...
Ota Pavel - Smrt krásných srnců
Jan Neruda - Povídky Malostranské (very Prague centric book)

The most civilized, educated and successful Slavs

They like my American dick

Bunch of fucking cunts

it could very well have been a poor translation. but for me, it's little to do with the subject matter, style, or emotional tone, and more because i felt that Too loud a Solitude and Hrabal's other writings had a greater "poetic/artistic fire". i apologise if that's vague, but English doesn't have a word for this concept; it's the trait that separates say Homer from Virgil, or James Joyce from Charles Dickens--the trait that gives something its literary merits.

anyway, thanks for those recommendations. i'll read them soon. my University library stocks Capek's War of The Newts, R.U.R., Hordubal, Meteor, and an Ordinary Life. which of those would you say is his "best"?

Rur is his most important one dunno if best

smug bastards as a country

chill and based lads as ppl

War with the Newts and R.U.R
try to snatch the Čapek and Hašek as well if you get the chance.
More like the most applicable nowdays... which is pretty shit for us considering how on point he was with the War with the Newts and Nazis.

I don't know if a place known for porn and loose women should be smug

The country is OK.

But not the people.

Czechs are definition of smug and not giving fuck

It's really unfounded. Their glory ended when they got absorbed into the Hapsburg realms and let the Roman Cuckolic church destroy them

>implying any of that shit matters nowadays

Just saying they have nothing to be smug about

how to pronounce "czech"??

They have Prague and beer. You are out of touch with reality if you think Habsburgs or religious shenanigans in middle ages have any effect on people today. Shit that happened 100 years ago doesnt matter, and you bring up Hussite wars like really stop being so autistic

quite easy actually, Czech 'em

put in google translate and click the 'listen' button

>prague and beer

Over rated

And that helped shaped how they are today

You are hopeless socialize more or kys

Getting really defensive there for a non Czech

I actually wanted to move to Prague once after seeing photos of the architecture.

It looked so beautiful, we don't have any of that medieval architecture.

But I'm not a college fag with a degree so that dream ended pretty quickly.

Do you have a grandparent from an EU country?

Nope all 'murican

Víla Amálka

Sorry about your luck. You could still go there on holidays.

Also, pretty much every European country has Medieval architecture.

>Sorry about your luck. You could still go there on holidays.

Yeah I know, and thanks. Both sides have been here for over a hundred years so not even close.

>Also, pretty much every European country has Medieval architecture.

Yes I know, but Prague just sort of spoke to me. The sort of dark broodiness feeling it gave me was pretty unique.
