Are there any truly dead genres?

Are there any truly dead genres?

Vaudeville

Polka ...hopefully.

age related genre´s, for example 90´s rap is a dead genre since it´s 2016 and thus it can no longer be produced

bluegrass

No genre is truly dead.
You cannot kill a style of music.

That was never a ''genre'', it was just hip hop, made in the 90s

But you can stop playing it

Swing

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

kool herc... for now...

Big band?

For you

Ska-Punk
Truly a phenomenon of its time

nah there are still plenty of big band outfits making stuff. not of the same caliber/recognition, and some of them are gimmicky, but they're out there

american primitivism

some really obscure genre on rym that you have to dig through a few things for but the main genre it originates from has to be osbscure also

doo wop

See I'm a stupid Britfag and every time I read this I think you mean like the Specials, The Selecter, Madness etc. and get fucking triggered

There is plenty being made, it's just pretty niche and not as noteworthy as the stuff made by Fahey and his contemporaries. Also Leo Kottke is still alive and tours regularly.

*American Primitive Guitar

90's wasn't a genre

No genre truly dies, but swing/traditional pop is only really alive among throwback artists and live performers.

Breakcore

Jim O' Rourke?

I think OP means a genre that doesn't have much to give nowadays.
