The position of 'intermediary' isn't an elected position you bloody moron. It's also not even an official one. You can have secretary's of plenty of things who still use the connections and experience of advisers and unofficial go-betweens that know both sides.

If this were an official elected position I'd agree with you but it isn't. May could use anyone she wants, whoever she thinks is best for the job, because she was elected to make that decision. It's the parliamentary democracy the remainers keep crying about after they lost the referendum.
