Why do westerners hate rice?

>Why do westerners hate rice?

Why do you greentext?

Says who?

you

Western people always say "Rice has no taste."

because we are allergic to it

We don't, come to Valencia!

I hate rice to be honest because I eat them every single fucking day. I prefer bread or noodle any day.

>bland
>filling
>resembles maggots

starch was a mistake

It's bland that's why
And unlike pasta you can hardly add like olive oil and cheese and ham inside to make it less bland

Sure there's cantonese rice but 1. it's still quite bland 2. no idea how i'd go about doing cantonese rice

and you must know rice you think and rice westerner thinks are different

pretty much everyone i know eats rice on a regular basis

i do actually hear the rice has no taste complaint from time to time, but here is what i've found.

a lot of the people here who say that rice has no taste are eating rice from very low quality chinese restaurants that are very popular here because they don't know how to cook. the rice in these restaurants tastes terrible and most people throw out the white right that they get from here. these are usually the same people that eat american junk food on a consistent basis, they don't know very much about what "real food" is, they rarely eat rice that is prepared well so they think it tastes bad. but these people think everything that isn't mcdonalds, kfc, etc. tastes bad.

Because a westerner isn't eating rice historically. Because a westerner isn't doing production of rice and import.

I love rice and I eat it several times a week

Fucking fight me m8

I heard that Spanish people also eat squid and octopus like us.
Spanish food is awesome desu

why not just put more beans on the plate? beans are superior

You too

Rice is pointless

We prefer to make pudding out of it

I the shit out of rice

just rice my shit up any day senpai

We have Potatos

You don't understand the magic of rice and beans. There's an ideal rice to beans ratio, otherwise you'd be eating with a spoon.

Some like to eat beans on their own here, cooking it with a bunch of meat, but rice on its own is pretty good as well.

Are Korean rice and Japanese rice the same kind?

This. GOAT as fuck.

Fat rice sucks, long rice feels way better in you mouth.

>You don't understand the magic of rice and beans.
Is it possible to learn this power?

this is heresy

Why not just commit sudoku already?
Beans+rice is magic.

Same

wtf is cantonese rice
i eat it plain everyday

plebeian spotted

enjoy your dry as shit rice

I love rice but I can`t cook it properly.

kek, pls teach me tho

>eating polluted as FUCK rice

Isn't natto eaten lolol

>eating rice
>with spoon

filthy

>eating rice with a pair of sticks
utterly bizarre tbqh

>white rice

Whoops, almost forgot the milk.

why don't asians eat brown rice?
do they hate flavor?

It's improved rice with Chinese ingredients that may or may not be fresh like eggs meat and peas

It's time to buy a rice cooker!
A rice cooker can bake pancake too desu.

This makes Asians get butthurt

NOT THE MILK!

NOT the MIIIIIILK!!!!!

What model of rice cooker would you recommend? Having a Japanese poster approved cooker would be pretty based.

It literally looks like alien's food…

Why not try your next Japanese dish on top of pasta ?

Rice compliments Asian food better than European food.

How to make rice, you mean?
>fry up some garlic for a bit, stop before it becomes brownish
>add rice
>add salt
>add water
Water is the tricky part. Add too much and it becomes mushy, too little and it'd be a bit hard to chew on it. Beans are a bit harder because we use pressure cooker and those can blow up in your place if you're not paying attention

Well it is indeed Chinese

I love rice

Japanese rice with a bit of ginger and soya
Jamaican rice and peas
Risotto in all its forms
Arancini
Fried rice
Steamed rice with curry

Plain ass, white ass rice though? Not so much. Japanese rice has flavour - starchy and sweet. Minute rice is just a filler - a vehicle for other, better things.

I mean how do they taste good together? Why do you eat them at the same time?

Thanks for the cooking tips though. I'll get cooking once the sun rises.

why do Sup Forums hate 米国 (Rice country)?

How come that Potatos are simply superior to rice in any way?

We sometimes give the flavor, too.

Because they are
A L L
A M E R I C A N

Potatoes are superior to literally everything

because they make superior booze and fried food

Because it isn't made in China.

Grains and legumes have complementary proteins - eating both at the same time creates complete proteins.

Plus if you do the beans up in a sauce, you now have a sauce to help lubricate your rice and beans.

See also: bean burrito

Fried food, sure.

Have you ever actually had potato vodka though? Luksosawa isn't terrible... that's about it.

Had some mashed potatos with meat yesterday

Like 4 hours later I was already hungry again

Rice and beans is literally the GOAT food, tasty, filling, healthy and cheap

It's hard to describe desu, but it's pretty good

Potatoes are overrated, pic rel is much tastier

Sorry,I don't know.
My rice cooker is made by Mitsubishi.
I bought it for about $200.

They don't know how to cook it. To be fair, it's extremely difficult to cook perfect rice on the stove. People simply don't own rice cookers. If they knew the convenience they would never peel another potato...

>Rice and beans is literally the GOAT food, tasty, filling, healthy and cheap

could you be any poorer

The potato is good.

>peeling potatoes

Nothing bad about rice but nothing exciting about it either. Why is rice so popular in Asia?

>To be fair, it's extremely difficult to cook perfect rice on the stove.
What do you consider to be perfect rice?

Rice is calorie-dense and easy to mass produce, like potatoes in Europe.

>peeling a potato ever

We don't. Rice and beans have been part of our diet ever since the Portuguese showed up to rape and genocide the natives.

I've never really had a problem with good rice... dunno about perfect, but you boil it, you cover it, and you leave it.

r8 my 蛋炒飯
pls no bully ;_;

Oh, neat. Go figure.

>tfw rice is aquatic and you live in a dry climate

Out of all the times i ate rice including all those expensive restaurants surely one of them cooked it properly
It was still bland regardless

>Rice cookers

pretty heretical ngl

nice

rice cooker orthodox as fuck

>r8 my 蛋炒飯

they're great for when you want rice ready for you when you get home - plug it in, give it rice and water, set it and forget it

This.

Westerners don't know good Japanese rice.
Therefore we talk on different wavelengths always.

Our voices are also lower, so we literally speak on different wavelengths.

rice takes about 15 minutes to cook, though?

>Ask mom if she wants me to buy her a rice cooker because it's more practical
>she tells me to fuck outta her kitchen

Nippon bro, when you make rice in your country, it is loose or are the grains sticking into one another?

Here in Brazil making the stuff loose is a matter of pride for every mother/wife.

more like you speak tonal amirite?

different rice for different purpose

Korean Americans often times buy Japanese rice.

mate, look at looks pretty muchy to me

thank you 香港朋友
do you want some too mon ami?

Because we brought it to Europe.

How do you propose they eat loose rice with their dumb sticks lad

I don't understand the "rice is bland" meme
it has flavor, it certainly has flavor
it's just very subtle and reserved. I find it delicious

This is the superior rice meal.

We don't

>peeling potatoes
>ever

But you also make rice porridge, お粥
