I remember when I was on youtube in 2009 and a Greek video was popular claiming "Alexander is Greek". I looked up Wikipedia and it said the same. I thought it was all Greek propaganda.

not really, catholicism formed a lot after the western roman empire fell. It's more influenced by germanics than latins. The original roman christianity is the orthodox one. The Roman state didn't fall untill the 15th century in the east.

I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. Germanic peoples weren't even slightly relevant in the Italian peninsula for ages, let alone in the Vatican. The Roman Catholic church is influenced mostly by Italians, whereas Orthodoxy is influenced mostly by Greeks.
