In his forty-third year William Stoner learned what others, much younger, had learned before him: that the person one loves at first is not the person one loves at last, and that love is not an end but a process through which one person attempts to know another. Edition

the terrorist gangs kept the people in besieged eastern aleppo there against their will to use as human shields and so they can pander to the west when a russian bomb kills civilians
lad, the entire reason why america is intervening their is because they want influence and control. they are helping their saudi allies by combating iranian influence. saudi is a US ally and iran is a russian ally. that's literally what it comes down to.
the great powers (usa and russia) are playing a game and syria is their playing board.
it's always been like this. people have no idea how draconian the US is because russia is always painted as the bad guy by the west.
the cold war might have ended 25 years ago but tensions that ran for decades don't just evaporate overnight. the final goal of EVERY action the US and russia have taken in the middle east was to secure power and influence.
this crap about helping the "syrian people" is bullshit, it just boils down to a power struggle between the great powers. syria is just a proxy war between saudi arabia and iran, and to a larger extent, russia and the US.
why do you think the US sells weapons to the saudis to use in yemen and doesn't condemn their actions in yemen? because they don't want iranian influence in yemen via the houthi militias there. they couldnt give a fuck about the civilians of yemen or syria.
the difference is that while russia is obviously also involved to pursue their own interests, they happen to also be backing the side that will restore order to syria.
the US has a track record of intervening in countries for power.
the obvious example is iraq, but another less known example is panama.
in the 70's, panama had a leader called omar torrijos. he was a great leader and he successfully negotiated with the US to give the panama canal rights to panama (torrijos-carter treaty in '77).
the US obviously didn't like this

Pussied out of suicide at the end of uni and now I'm a more or less successful entrepreneur.
Mixed feelings about all this tbqh.

(2/2)
the US obviously didn't like this, so what did they do?
they instigated a coup in panama and eventually installed the dictator manuel noriega. he was a tyrannical dictator who was also involved in drug trafficking and was being paid off by the CIA.
when the US no longer had any use for him and when noriega was becoming more and more anti-US, they invaded panama in 1989 to remove him from power (while they were invading, noriega was STILL getting paid by the CIA). during the invasion they said they were "freeing the panamanian people from a tyrant dictator" when they had put him in power in the first place and were still paying him.
and they managed to kill over 2000 civilians in the process of the invasion.
similar thing happened in iraq under saddam but obviously on a much larger scale
point is, the US doesnt give a fuck about the syrian people or anyone there, its all about power.
>when an aussie replies to you
