what medieval music is this stuff inspired by?

The primary inspiration is the theory rather than any specific composers, as far as I know.

Here's a good DS intro chart.

is the first album from that video game? I'm going to give these a good listen to. the names of the bottom right three would be appreciated

Yes, the first album is Daggerfall vidya OST. I recommend listening to it in it's original MIDI format, preferably with WMP because it uses such a retro 90s soundfont.

Posting in two parts because Sup Forums hates my formatting.

Swords of Numenor - Of Times Forgotten
Lunar Womb - The Sleeping Green
Sequestered Keep - Might of an Ancient Tale

The Abandoned Places discography is really good if you like the more droney type of DS.

Why not post this in the nbbmn thread? It's death enough as is, we could use some Dungeon Synth.

I actually haven't listened to any dungeon synth this month for NBBMN. I thought I would have to to get a break, but nope, I've been 100% in. Kinda surprised myself desu.

Anyway, have some good shit

Last time I posted DS in /nbbmn/ it got buried under mountains of BM.

I think we deserve our own general.

Nothing But Dungeon Synth September

Why not?

Bump

dongeon synth dimanche you loon

I really, really want dungeon synth December honestly, or some sort of month. I feel like having two months in a row of the same music is kinda weird though. September would be ok I guess, but I'd rather have it in the winter or spring, to go with the vibe of the music, and also have some sort of a break between NBBMN. What do you guys think?

anyone here make their own dungeon synth? it seems like one of the easier types of genres to make with a DAW

dungeon synth is my guilty pleasure. So comfy playing rpg's/reading fantasy with it on in the background. Tb h I've kinda wanted to get into larping if I wasn't such a spastic

I have an old Casio I was planning on making DS with, but I need a new audio splitter.

Going to bed. Goodnight.

GOAT Dungeon Synth here. My first DS album really, and still my favorite. The mood it evokes is unlike anything else.

Possibly a bit too energetic and noisy to actually be /ds/ but i'll post it anyway.

Yes, let's make Dungeon Synth December a thing. It's the perfect time of year, and interest would be high off the back of nbbmn.

I really don't like making it back to back with black metal though, that's two straight months of listening to one genre. I think February would be bomb though.

While I'd love for month long Dungeon Synth threads, I don't think there is enough quality Dungeon Synth to really keep it fresh for an entire month.

February is the end of the winter though and everyone will be sick of it by then. December is prime time for comfy wintery music threads.

Hmm, well I think I could be down I guess. If someone makes it, I'll contribute for sure.

(not true, by the way)

How does one make dungeon synth? Is it just midi? I usually just use DAWs to to mix my music, not to actually make it. Is there any guitar based dungeon synth out there?

It falls more into the synthwave category. It has a darker vibe that most synthwave, but I don't think it quite fits the DS mold.

MIDI or cheap hardware synth are the cornerstone of most DS releases.

Due to dungeon synth's origins as an offshoot of black metal, inserting electric guitars as the primary instrument would basically just turn it back into BM. I have heard DS featuring acoustic guitars; not as the lead instrument however.

I thought we were waiting 'til December? Oh well, see you guys in just over a week...

I never said I would wait. As long as we have a thread, I'm posting in it.

i'm liking this a lot. anything else that's similar?

I don't know, I liked the 'The Darkened Empire's demos 1000x more than this one on the chart.

just listen to it whenever you want. it doesn't need a designated month

Any recs for more like Abandoned Places? Just came across them/dungeon synth recently and I'm really digging it.
