So will we ever get actually good super hero movies like this or the Watchmen? Or is it now all about movies being just "mindless fun" or good because "they don't treat themself seriously"? Now we'll be only getting things like Deadpool or Guardians of the Galaxy?

Drive was good capeshit movie too.

This guy's not wrong he just means the Mark Dacoscas one

I got a girlfriend a while back and when i started getting my penis sucked on, I stopped caring about crap the OP is saying.

You can't honestly compare Unbreakable and Watchmen. Unbreakable is so grounded and subtle. Watchmen is pretty typical gritty capeshit.

Subtle doesn't mean better, you can have a great work that's expressive and stylized.

>Unbreakable
>300
>Sin City
>Watchmen DC

The age of capeshit is long over.

The 00s were great for film.

Superheroes are an inherently childish story to tell. If you wanted something more than that you should try watching stuff that isn't capeshit.

I just find Snyder's style to be a tad overbearing. I'm not saying M. Night is generally more skilled of a filmmaker but I do like Unbreakable quite a bit more than Watchmen.

This guy knows whats up.
Everything I ever gave a shit about got sucked right out of my penis hole.

300 is what I like to call a fast forward movie, inbetween the action sequences you fast forward the shit out of it.... I use to say the same about the matrix, but it's alot easier to watch than 300

But add blade 2 to that list

>blade 2

No.

Im gonna assume you didnt see 300 in theatres.

Imo the main problem with modern capeshit is that it just looks silly. Maybe I am superficial but the characters have to fit the environment. If the movie takes place in the real world then the actors should look real. Either look completely like normal people or at least like in Nolan's Batman with realistic looking outfits. I mean just imagine the Joker dressed like in Burton's Batman in a modern, real world. It would look silly. Or Bane from Batman vs Robin instead of TDKR Bane. Burton and Schuhmacher made sure that the environments looked cartoony so it all fits.

But look at the Marvel movies. I just can't take it seriously.

Also if your superhero has over the top superpowers then they should also be properly done. But often it just makes the movie look like a fan production or a video game.

God I hate this new trend of hyper-realism.

The Dark Knight and Casino Royal have ruined cinema.

ITS NOT THE REAL WORLD, ITS A FUCKING MOVIE SET IN A WORLD WITH MAGIC AND ALIENS FOR FUCKS SAKE.

>ITS NOT THE REAL WORLD, ITS A FUCKING MOVIE SET IN A WORLD WITH MAGIC AND ALIENS FOR FUCKS SAKE.

Then it should look magical.

It does, or did you miss the part with the norse god?

We just got Batman v Superman though. That was amazing.

Funny how Shamyladingdong out of all people made one of the best capers

Where have you been for the last 60 years? Some of the best works in every medium have been made by trying to form ideas formed by pop culture into something much, much more.

>Watchmen
>good

Thor does, the rest of the setting doesn't.

That's why I think Snyder is at least on the right track with works like 300 or Watchmen, he tried to alter the visual design of the setting as well.

Sorry, I'm not an edgy contrarian.

What?
