Advanced space faring intergalactic race resorts to primal animal strength, claws, fangs...

>advanced space faring intergalactic race resorts to primal animal strength, claws, fangs, and a bunch of other vestigial appendages

>consumes other extraterrestial species it barely knows about raw

every time

I think the alien she was hiding from was some sort of a hound, not one of the invaders.

Also the movie was so hilariously open-ended that any speculation about the aliens and their tech is completely meaningless. The fact that they're space faring doesn't necessarily mean that they're more advanced than humans.

it really does.

even if they killed some species that came to their own planet with the tech, they have to be intelligent to understand how to use it.

Stop defending alien movie cliches. The designers make them that way for no reason other than to be scary.

Imagine in the year 3000 AD humans traveled to another planet and began terrorizing the local aliens by running around naked, flinging their own feces arouind, and biting their heads off. That's what's happening.

That's assuming just one possibly.

For all we know, the whole damn invasion force is just some advanced biomechanical expeditionary probe.

Or maybe a rogue aberration/degeneration from a previously more sophisticated entity or group of entities.

that would be neat, still shouldnt be defeated so easily imo.

>Alien can survive in the vacuum of space for extended periods of time due to its biology
>Alien has the strength to fly on a planet with strong gravity

These are the only prerequisites to invade any Earth-like planet. You don't need technology or literally anything else. The "ship" might have not been a ship at all, just a race of armor-clad space faring squids.

>humans
Case in point. You're applying the logic of tech needed to sustain humans in space to tech needed to sustain aliens in space.

It's possible they're irrational or maladaptive due to defective cybernetic programming, why else would they be trying to wipe out humanity in the first place instead of trying to establish themselves somewhere remote and learn more about the indigenous life?

Maybe they're desperate or being manipulated, maybe they're part of an experiment to test our responses to specific stimuli and scenarios.

Humanity was pushing them back in some areas, it's possible they either didn't plan their invasion very well or they were never really meant to win.

Would have been a good TV series, not a movie. Leave the ayy lmaos presence as the second episode cliffhanger

Sometimes it's nice to be reminded that however many issues a script may have, at least it wasn't written by the general populace. Thanks mate.

Oh shit it actually did really well

How does this tie in with Cloverfield?

This movie's ending is an excellent example of how Hollywood producers ruin amazing movies

Marketing

>Screenplay by Damien Chazelle

No wonder that shit was tight as fuck. Seeing as he wasn't the guy credited with the story, he must have been the script doctor for the film. Solid work.

Whoever the fuck said they're aliens?

The ship was organic with a mouth. It's an animal, just from a prehistoric era. Godzilla in the first movie was also "awoken from slumber" or some shit.

These are just cybernetic dinosaurs, born and bred on Earth, just with mutations that make them part cybernetic.

In the original script, Michelle escapes the shelter and is chased through the farmhouse by Howard, who still wants to “protect” her. She blinds him with bathroom cleaner, he tells her about his tragic life (dead wife, missing daughter, treacherous Nate, etc.), and then she shoots him in the kneecap and runs away. He ends the movie alive, entreating Michelle to “be careful.” Later, after traveling down empty roads and finding no one around to help her, she crests a hill and sees the Chicago skyline, smoldering and destroyed. No explanation is given. We don’t even know what she will do next, only that she now knows that Howard, for all his oddity, was correct. The final line in the script is, “She slowly pulls down the mask on the hazmat suit before taking a breath.”

That ending was changed by the studio. Audiences need action scenes with asshole face aliens and explosions.

its more than that, in my opinion. I think they added the shit ending when they added the "cloverfield" title.

they should have just ended it when she got on the car and saw the ship

Where the fuck did you get that from?

The lamprey thing would be like humans siccing cyborg dogs on civilians

This would have been a much better ending but seeing the aliens was pretty cool desu

That Otter should be eating biscuits on its tummeh

>implying they were aliens
Howard said the Russians were working on some weird shit.

>Also the movie was so hilariously open-ended
It wasn't.

She got rused, and the Aliens were rounding up all the people who could set up a resistance operation.

If you look closely, one of the last shots is a lightning bolt that illuminates a ship silhouetted against the clouds in the direction she turned.

>if you have medical experience or military training please come here
>dumb cunt with no medical experience, military training, or even weapons to contribute to the effort turns towards the city

you realize the point of the message was that they were fighting the aliens in that city? it makes sense that there would be aliens in that direction

Wouldve been way better. What the fuck were they thinking

She got cocky after destroying that ship.

It's a marten.

>there are people on Sup Forums RIGHT NOW who honestly believed that this movie was going to tie into the original cloverfield
>there are people on Sup Forums RIGHT NOW who refused to accept that this was a cash-in with "cloverfield" slapped onto the title to generate more interest

It doesn't

>an otter is a marten

>advanced space faring intelligent race resorts to using primal animal strength, claws, fangs, and a bunch of charcoal

>assuming it doesn't know about the extraterrestial species it's eating raw

That was a better ending.

Also, I don't know why everyone is talking about aliens so much when Howard was clearly the best part of the movie.

that woulda been a sick ending
but would anyone have gone to see the film had it not been absorbed by the cloverfield "franchise"?
