What's the point of watching old movies?

I have seen 7. I am safe and can continue to shitpost on Sup Forums another day

What's the point of watching new moives?

Loads of over-rated trash for nu-males to fawn over while saying things like, "The genius of x is..".

>no Batman v Superman

Make a new thread.

Seen The Godfather. It was overrated. I'm going to assume every other movie on that list is, too.

None of these are TDKR. Congrats on being accepted to a film school though.

everyones seen the godfather op, at least make it harder

No, not really. They're all good films at the least and masterpieces at best.

Your attitude is what makes your experience. Your mistake was expecting something amazing from it, if you had gone in with no expectations, you would probably have enjoyed it more. Also, try watching it again sometime in the future. When plot is out of the way, you can focus more and appreciate other elements of the film better.
Or it's just not your kind of film. That's okay too. But I doubt you'd be able to tell that after one viewing with blown-up expectations.

Refined list. Vertigo barely made it. Don't bother watching Citizen Kane, it's rotten cinema now.

>old movies

Why do you want me to watch boring movies. 2001 is full and makes very little sense.

If you want a cool film try mad max dirt road. You're welcome bro.

Citizen Kane (1941)
Raging Bull (1980)
Some Like It Hot (1959)
The Godfather (1972)
The Godfather Part II (1974)

Seen these and liked them any other watchable movies up there?

These anons are wasting their lives.

If you liked these watch every single other one on the list. They are all top tier masterpieces.

All these movies are shitty old craps .

I can assure you wont lost anything not watching listed crap.

You're a fucking retard. Thanks for listening.

Haven't seen the rest

>seen 19 of them
>two of my 5 favorite movies are on there
feels goid

Watch the full list and all of your 5 favorites will be from it.

Even my mom has seen at least one of the movies in that list (2001), and she hates movies.

How about a little effort next time?

I rented The Godfather once a few years ago. I fell asleep maybe 30 minutes in and woke up in time to see the ending. Did I miss anything important?

Okay. I'll watch them.

"If you haven't seen at least one film from this list" means that if your mom have seen 45 and haven't seen 2 she should watch these 2. If she have seen 1 than she should watch the other 46.

That is not what the OP means, or it's incredibly badly phrased.

wew, i've literally only seen 2001 on that list

if you haven't seen at least 10 of these films you've wasted your life

If you haven't seen Wild Strawberries you're a turbopleb and need to fuck off back to redbit

I am OP. If you HAVEN'T seen AT LEAST one you should do it. Means if you haven't seen 1 or 2 or 3 or 40 you should see them. If you have seen all and there is no even 1 you haven't seen, then you are fine.

>he's afraid of saying reddit

I should have said if there is at least 1 film you haven't seen... The point of my thread is misunderstanded almost by everyone.

No, that is not what it means. You only think it makes sense because you already knew the meaning, you just failed to communicate it properly. I'm sure pretty much everyone in this thread, including me, understood "If you haven't seen at least one film from this list" as.. well, as what it fucking says.
This is how you should've phrased it for clarity's sake: "If there's at least one film that you haven't seen.."
And please don't get upset, I'm not trying to be hostile. I'm guessing English is not your first language?

>no Saving Private Ryan
>no True Grit
>no Close Encounters
>no Big Lebowski
>no Drive

OP doesnt know shit

If you haven't seen the entire filmography of every director listed here and wrote a 200 pages essay on each one, you've wasted your life.

If Kubrick is entry-level, what should i watch next?

French New Wave, watch some Godard and Truffaut.

yea I already figured
and yea not the first language

9 & 1/2
Couldn't make it through Citizen Kane.
Nothing wrong with the movie itself but I'd seen everything that made is special done a hundred time. It did them first but I still felt like I was watching a bad Twilight Zone rip off.
And I knew the ending of course.

Not sure if bait until >Drive

i've not seen any of these but i really like psycho so i guess i'm okay..

Sorry?

Yeah, this is why I think it is no longer required watching for a cinephile, or anyone really, other than for historical purposes. It was very important in the advancement of cinema, but we've all already seen it hundreds of times.

...

...

...

No thanks, I don't watch meme movies.

You should, you're already living a meme life.

If you haven't watched all of those you shouldn't even bother discussing film

But they are all flicks.

Two of them are joints, three are films, six are movies, one is cinématographie and the rest are flicks. Try harder next time, friendo.

>mfw I've only seen the Godfather part II

But I've already played Persona 4. Why would I need to watch the movie?
