What if he DID have the makings of a varsity athlete?

What if he DID have the makings of a varsity athlete?
What if he DID become a coach?
Would you still watch The Sopranos because of Tony, or are you only interested in the mob?

Shit doesn't matter, Tony was always going to take the easy way. If he DID have the makings of a varsity athlete and if he DID become a coach he would have still found a way to have been miserable. His mother still would have been overbearing and impossible. He still would have had all sorts of conflicting emotions towards his sister. He still would have faced the panic attacks. He likely would have ended like Arty, an outsider looking in, wishing he'd taken that other path in life. I thought the Kevin Finnerty coma dream made that pretty clear?

And the selling point of the Sopranos was the mob stuff. It was the pleb bait that hooked everyone and reeled the viewers in. There would have been no show without the mob angle, because whose going to watch a show about a cripplingly depressed high school football coach? Actually that sounds kind of interesting.

Me too, did you like season 6's Vito and Johnnycakes subplot?

This so much. The fucker would have been deflating footballs and letting his assistant coach Silvio molest little boys in the shower

I know, but would you have watched a football coach go through all this, or is it more interesting because he's a guy who can get away with beating another guy up in public, he can pay goons to keep his hands clean, he can run executive card games. He's got some kind of power where people want to impress/listen to him that AREN'T kids on a team.
It'd still be just as well written, but it's a regular guy arguing with his wife about his adultery. His adultery isn't that fantastic though, it's a regular bar slut because he can't pay good looking ones.

I think you answered your own question there. What made the Sopranos so interesting was here was a mob boss, a modern day Michael Corleone, and he was suffering from the same problems as your average middle American at the time. He was an alluring figure, but he was extremely relate-able because his problems where our problems too (so to speak).

>implying Silvio would have followed Tony into the world of coaching

Silvio and Ralphie would have gone on to war with each other over control of the DiMeo family, while Artie and Tony shot the shit and had a few beers at Vesuvio after hours, reminiscing about their high school days when they used to run with Silvio and Ralph and wonder what could have been.

Probably one of the best scenes in the show of all time.

He did have the makings of a varsity athlete user. It's just that the kids at Seton Hall were 7 feet tall and he took an academic leave of absence.

Ive only watch 3 ep of sopranos but i like them

Bump for lack of The Sopranos threads lately.

Show is being forgotten dawg because it's not on no normie streaming platforms. Need to keep up the fanbase

would people watch a show about a coach
they already made that shit, faggot

when is it gonna be on netflix

Tony lettered in football. The varsity athlete thing was just junior being senile and riling up Tony's insecurities.

He did take the easy way out, dropping out of college for the mob.

Before I watch it all, how was it? Did he see a Dr. Melfi?

WHO ATE ALL THE FUGGING GABAGOO?!

It's an HBO original, so never.

Gabagool? Over heeeeere.

I remember reading a looong time ago they were going to make a prequel to the sopranos when tony was a kid but then nothing ever came of that

hey rebbit
are we doing the thing where we say a line that happened in the show and then we reply with the line that also happened in the show, but after the first quoted line?

This show made me want to dress like a gangster. Fancy dress shirts and leather jackets.

>being such a newfag he doesnt know gabagoo posting started on Sup Forums and reddit stole it from us

:D ha man like CARMELA PLEASE GET SOME PUUUUUULP i don't see that on reddit every day we sure are witty this discussion is da bomb can't wait for somebody to quote johnny sack as if we didn't see the series and know every line

anybody who thinks the mob setting is what made sopranos goat is an ultra pleb

Okay let's settle this once and for all. Which character is Sup Forums and which character is reddit. I feel like Tony is Sup Forums and Janice is reddit. Tony is just an all-round boss and general bad ass whereas Janice is annoying and whiny af. Similar to Sup Forums vs reddit. Could just be a coincidence but I've wondered if the writers did this on purpose. Either way, it makes for entertaining television. Would be interested to hear your theories on which character is Sup Forums and which character is reddit and why.

...

>Sopranos thread turning into a shitposting thread

All due respect, you are all faggots.

>le reddit boogeyman
Fuck off

And your mother is a hoo-uh

youtube.com/watch?v=4gLW5ICEnik

I really sympathize with Chris.

>Which character is Sup Forums and which character is reddit. I
Both are AJ, just different flavor of pathetic entitled numale manchildren.

Actually, AJ is reddit, somewhat adjusted.
Sup Forums is Vito Junior, the son of a big faggot -moot-, taking a shit in the shower and dressing like a puerto rican hooah.

Having to bump a Sopranos thread

You've been told once, Sup Forums

>Sup Forums is Vito Junior
that was so funny I swallowed a bug

That would have been stupid. Who wants to see that shit. They'd bring back the old actors and pretend they are young.

I laughed so hard I spat gummy bears all over my keyboard lol

Forget the Gabagool, I'm out all night and I come home and all I want is a little fucking smoked turkey!

>They'd bring back the old actors and pretend they are young.

Disgusting.

It looked bad enough with those scenes where they tried to make it look like 5-10 years ago.

what's it like being so angry

reddit
out
get out
now
get the FUCK OUT
GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY FUCKING BOARD OR ELSE

nice reddit discussion topic
i hope you enjoy it on reddit later today, because it ain't fucking happening here
nobody on Sup Forums is stupid enough to fall for your bare basic discussion tactics and ideas
think before you post

If he was a salesman like in his coma it'd be pretty boring d e s u.

lmao non-normie detected.

This is our site now bucko. So better buckle up and enjoy the ride princess, cause you're in the jungle now.

>it ain't me starts playing

You're asking a question that is basically answered by the show's existsence. How many "average joe has regular person problems" shows do you think have been pitched? How appealing do you really think that sounds? Now, would I watch something just because James Gandolfini is in it even if it looks unremarkable? I dunno. Maybe.

Yeah, Tony was a great character, but not great enough to make a suburban drama watchable for 6 seasons as a non-mob boss. Maybe half that.

We all agree that Tony died at the end, right?

Silvio would have been loyle to his capo no matter what.

>what is hbo now

i think something unspoken but always felt on the show was everyone's jealousy of Silvio's hair.

>Sup Forums is vito junior

>tfw that episode made me realize I'm bisexual
T-Thanks David Chase

Obviously, every scene throughout the episode was tonys face cut into what he sees. Just some episodes earlier he had a discussion with bobby how the victim doesnt even hear the gunshot, it's just suddenly over. Last scene is his face cut into sudden quiet darkness

I don't get how his problem was his small hands, he had enormous fucking hands

I wonder how long leotardo spent in the closet before vito arrived. Were his guys like "okay okay shush he's coming he's coming quick get in the closet pfffft" and he went there giggling like an idiot "dis gon be good"

I tried telling that to my brother and he was unconvinced, but it's because he doesn't want to believe it.

>Don't stop believing intensifies

Didn't Friday Night Lights go on forever?

Best girl coming through

there's another bit before where Christofurrr tells Tony to watch his 3 o'clock, referring to his right hand side

and popular theory is that the guy on the right in the final scene is the 'one'
